MSI should need to give every person that purchased their money back for putting them through this, I like so many of your commenters have testified spent hours and hours trying to redownload the latest driver only to have it say cannot find the file, a refund and keep the board is what MSI should be made to pay, this like all the PC Shit storms of the last few years all but put me off building ever again but the pre built is worse. Thank you, you are the MAN.
DUDE! I spent literally hours looking for a fix to this issue. I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH! Worked first go-round. I was puzzled and at my wits end with this new computer. Getting a 13th gen CPU tomorrow and this worked for my MSI B660 Tomahawk Wifi DDR4. THANK YOU!!!!!!
@@mythmetaverse3461 Hi can this tutorial recover any bios update eror after getting the wrong bios download with out going on another computer i liked and subscribed to your video please reply me the answer would mean a lot to me
Thank you. For me it was having the two files as you did with the two versions. One for the current version and one with the updated version, and it finally read it. Also make sure to remove the gpt properties from the usb, format it to fat32 and plug it in to the flash bios port if you have one. I didn’t rename the file to msi.rom, as msi official tutorial mentioned. It worked just fine leaving the file name as it is. I struggled a lot because it didn’t detect the file before only showing the 3dot and nothing inside.
I had the same problem but this didn’t help, I had to put “cec” after and got another file if you still have problems do windows+r, msinfo32 and u can find motherboard full name
Mine doesn't take me to an options after I've clicked the file in bios. I click it, it's like it opens the next location which has 2 dots. All I can do is click the name or the dots forever. Never getting the update option
mine shows the file inside the usb but then i click on it and cant click on anything else after that, the only option is rebooting the computer... can the usb be anywhere in the computer or only the flashing bios port? Because now nothing is showing up even following these steps!
I dont think I've ever left a comment on a youtube video but i have to thank you for this video. Been wrecking my brain for hours feel like a moron but glad its something tiny.
I applied the update and now my motherboard sees my SSD as not supported, and wont allow me to boot it, any way to roll back a bios update? cant do anything but mess around in the bios now
In my case, the issue was that msinfo32 (aka windows System Information) was showing me the incorrect motherboard model. I checked for the motherboard model in BIOS and it was different. Everything worked just fine after that
this didnt work for me i have the msi mpg b550 gaming plus (ms-7c56) and when i go into bios the file is not there. idk if it is bc my bios version is too old. the bios version i have rn is E7C56AKB.1K3
Thanks - glad I feel like an idiot. But I also blame MSI a bit. Why are there 5 versions of a motherboard with the same model number. Isn’t that the point of the model number?!?
The important part of this video is that the BIOS was NOT found. I had to look for X299 Creator BIOS , vs X299 Creation (or vs ion). Going through the MSI website product page did not show the 'Creator' BIOS. And to make it even more fun, my MSI motherboard has the word 'Creation' stamped on it. idk what they're doing over there.

Lol, almost didn’t buy another MSI moon because quite a few reviews were whining about not being able to flash bios…. Glad I watched this video. You would think “type the full model name” would be a given……
tengo problema con msi b460m-a pro (ms-7c88) le pongo en fat 32 y no me lo reconoce aparece puntos suspensivos , ya intente con otras memorias usb y con otro formato, como ntfs y aparecen puntos suspensivos o la memoria vacia

Thank you very much! I spent too much time looking for this fix. I appreciate you taking the time to make and upload this video.
Thanks a lot! I don't think I would have figured this out. Damn MSI for such silly product identification confusion.
