Arya was predestined to kill the night king since season 1. I think Syrio Forel is Jaqen H'ghar. Jaqen leave her go to Winterfell because Many-Faced God need to kill the night king because he took lives that dont correspond to him and he is destroying the natural cycle of life and death. Arya is the weapon of the Faceless Men. Now.. brown eyes.. blue eyes.. green eyes.. Cersei is the next... the Valonqar is coming for you bitch.
I always wondered if the Lord of Light kept Arya off the Night King’s radar, distracting him with Jon, Dani, Theon, even Jaime. They were the known candidates as the Three-eyed Raven’s champions. The Night King obviously had a plan to curtail each one. But Arya came, literally, out of nowhere. It was definitely Bran’s master plan all along. Melisandre was there to nudge her in the right direction. There was a hint that this would happen when Arya and Jon reunited in the Gods’ Wood. Jon asked how she could sneak up on him like that. He stood where the Night King would later stand.
The episode itself was great, but I think they did the Night King dirty. That was way too easy an end for a villain who was 10 years in the making.

Lyanna Mormont’s death was hard to watch.
I think they should have had Jon kill the night king...they seemed to be going in that direction anyway, and we saw Jon fight one of his henchmen. That was an incredible fight - I wanted another like that between Jon and the night king. That would have been epic.
I think that would have been far too predictable. Also remember the night king saw Jon kill one of his henchmen in 1-on-1 combat and there was a scene which made it clear that the night king saw what happened, that's most probably the reason the night king refused to fight Jon and instead rose the dead when Jon charged at him in this episode, whereas when Theon charged at him he had no problem dealing with him himself instead of having one of his henchmen or the dead step in
Jon would have been destroyed. None of them were going to stand a chance against the NK in a straight up fight. And if Jon did beat him everyone still would have complained that it was too easy or "bad writing." People should just get over themselves and say the truth - they just didn't get what they wanted so they're going to complain about it.

The showrunners said they decided to give Arya the killing blow about two seasons ago. So yeah, the dagger made sense. So while the eyes wasn't the original idea, it did fit nicely.
The Night King is not dead. It’s a time loop. The Knight King was trying to kill himself but Arya interrupted him.

When I was watching this episode I thought about your reaction to Jorah's death. I was absolutely gutted by him and Theon. Two episode 1 characters are gone, both part of this show since the very beginning. Jorah was by Dany's side before she found herself and became the person she is today. It's heartbreaking.
Remember that Sansa told Jon in 6/9 that noone can protect anyone? She was right.

I saw Ghost too! At this point the dragons and the dire wolfs are the deaths that would affect me the most. And maybe Arya since she was my favorite since day 1.

I hope people finally start giving Dany the respect she deserves after this episode. She had zero weapon training and still picked up a sword and fought to save her people and those she loves, maybe Sansa should take note that not knowing how to use one is no excuse. Daenerys is more then just her Dragons but a true warrior, “What kind of Queen am I if I’m not willing to risk my life to fight for them?"
Dany was great this episode...besides not sticking to the plan. But still she was great
@@Goomyx1492 Tbh what plan really? The plan wasn't really gonna work at all. Actually aside from theon taking care of bran everything else was no good and tbh nothing could be good cuz they were seriously in deep shit. Nk always knows where bran is so ofc if he'll kill the dragons at once when he gets there. He can't even be surprised. Even Jon and Dany together with their dragons couldn't stop Nk and viserion. If it weren't for Dany and Jon burning the walkers and saving time and fighting and stalling the Nk all of them would be dead in a matter of minutes. Jon and the armies would've been dead instantly then Dany, bran and everyone else. I guess All of them did the best they could in that bloody situation. All those last minute decisions were needed I guess.
@@SJlight-jp1uy Well I was only talking about the plan for Jon and Dany to fight the NK on their dragons. They were supposed to wait for him to show himself before they did anything but it didn't really matter anyway. I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill here.

The stress this caused me waiting to sunday and then the 1 1/2 hour battle literally gave me indigestion when it was finally over lol.

I thought Tormund, Brienne, and Greyworm were going to die, but they didn’t. I thought Theon and Beric would die, so that’s two I got right.
But overall, I feel like they’ve become spineless about losing characters. None of the real main characters died. I don’t think any of them will die in the next episodes either.

Baby badass Lyanna Mormont getting killed started the watering of my eyes. When Bran told Theon he was a good man and said thank you I started to cry. And then I just kept crying seeing him and jorah die. Arya has been my favourite since day 1 and my girl came through!!! MVP. I was freaking out with happiness when she killed the Night King
It was fun, and intense, but pretty underwhelming when all is said and done. "The Long Night" that lasted about 70 minutes, what a let down. 90% of the main characters are still alive and well even though they should have died like 5 times over, but hey, plot armour, that's what GoT is all about, right Ned? Right Robb and Cat? Winterfell should have fallen, with only 1 or 2 dragons full of characters left to flee the destruction. In the grand scheme of the show now, the Night King was a bitch that hardly did anything. He should have made it to King's Landing, forcing Cersei to enter the fight against him, just imagine if she was forced to level King's Landing with Wildfire, giving up everything she's worked for in order to save herself and the rest of Westeros. That would have been interesting. This was just weak, now Cersei is the big boring bad guy. What a waste of so many years of build up.
Also, what the hell was the point of episode 2 with all of the big "goodbye" moments and interactions with all of the main characters if they were just going to survive anyways even though they had no right to do so? So lame. Big CGI battles and Hollywood twists are not what this show is supposed to be about.

@@angiedracul6562 I feel exactly the same. I actually feel so scared for her right now, she lost her most loyal friend and I feel like people will be targeting her now. Who's gonna protect her? 🙁 I was actually thinking earlier, at this point I wouldn't even mind if she goes on the dark side (which I hope doesn't happen). Imagine yourself, working hard for something that you believe is yours but suddenly all of that gets taken away, everything you've built for years just went poof! And on top of that people are ganging up on you. 😧

It was only ever going to be Arya or Jon, and Jon would have been too cheesy, and actually less likely, because Jon's only a good man with a good sword. Supernatural skills for taking down a supernatural foe. No-one else was going to get the drop on the Night King. I once thought Bran might be able to as the Three-Eyed Raven, but they made him just a mind on a chair, rather than the mightiest Warg in the world I thought it would mean.
It was just fan service George, after the episode D&D said they choos Arya to kill the Nk because Jon was always the hero and it seemed right for her too end the NK. The brown eyes , blues greens eyes are not in the books so this is all D&D fan service, Also the NK was scared of Jon it why he raised the dead instead of fighting him the old way one v one, instead he raised the dead and ran.

Alot of people are shitting on the season and I get it. But at the same time this episode was brilliantly done. They aren't giving fans what they wanted though the things the fans want in all honestly make more sense when you look at the series as a whole. I keep going back an forth on it but...the say the night King is the main enemy...I'm not so sure.
I think what Melisandre lighting the arakhs accomplished was allowing everyone else to see that they had been stopped so that they could prepare for their return as/with the wights?
Really hoping the final three episodes deliver. I didn't really care for this episode. Great directing and art, but not a fan of the script.

Melisandre was the fucking MVP for me. I lost my shit every time she was in a scene. It was so bitter sweet when she died.

Great war. Great roller-coaster of emotions. Great acting. Great music. Great scens. Theon death may seem silly to some but it was a heroic deed to save time for bran. So sad this character.
And Dany was awesome truly.
The heroes little brave Lyanna and Jorah. The brave mormonts that fought till the end for what they believed in.
Everything was just so fcking awesome.

@@boogabuga7657 I think the surprising thing was that many of the characters we thought would die didn't. And after 8 seasons of having the Big war alert Just one ep was too short for this. But the whole season is short. Only 6 eps.
It's kinda said no one can kill death and it actually happened. Even bran gave Arya last season for this and that whole dagger move with Arya was shown. So it was eventually gonna happen either way. I think they did their best in such short time. And it was great really.
It could've gone bad. Like Dany and Jon's romance which just went 100 out of nowhere all suddenly without giving it time and not a really good chemistry like some of the past couples tbh.

@@SJlight-jp1uy Hardly anyone died. There were countless fake outs with all of the main characters. Brienne got toppled by wights in the first minute of battle, she should have been dead right there. Apparently the characters that the audience really likes are invincible. There's too much plot armour, there are too many "gotchya" moments. This really doesn't feel like Game of Thrones anymore. Where are the consequences? 8 seasons of build up for the White Walkers, and all they want is to get Bran? Winterfell should be in ruins, only a few characters should have survived this battle. All logic was just thrown aside so they could get cool CGI moments. This isn't Marvel, it's GoT ffs.
@@boogabuga7657 I get what u mean bro. That Invincible, plot armor thingy for some characters that were seriously supposed to die there like Brienne was really far from Got style. But we had moments like this plot armor before in the show. Not many times but we did. Jon should've died quite a few times during the show and he didn't. He had stuff to do.
I think they've got something planned about this in next ep or sth. Apparently They've still got sth for these people to do on the show. They're kinda good at surprising the audience. At least many of the audience.
Nk and his army did severe damage. 90% of Armies are gone, Rheagal is fcked up. Winterfell is a mess. To think about it they're screwed.
It's just my opinion and mine alone but I think Nk's work is not finished yet and sth will happen by him. I wanna say I wanted more of him on the show cuz of all the time in other seasons but they decided to just end everything so quickly.
Even Martin said he really wanted and suggested that the show would go on more and they can make more seasons and make it still brilliant but well since they didn't there's nothing to do. I personally think they did a damn good job despite all the time limit and that massive amount of stuff that were yet to come.
@@SJlight-jp1uy I honestly believe D&D only cared about getting to the Red Wedding, they didn't care about the story after that part. They even said something along the lines of if they got the Red Wedding right then they did their job. The Hollywood elements began to appear in Season 4 and snowballed uncontrollably in Season 6 when they ran out of source material. I made peace with Jon's plot armour even though I knew it was dumb, but now the show completely relies on it. It's everywhere and it's just stupid. We will see what the last 3 episodes will bring but all of my hopes for this story have been crushed with this recent episode.
I was thinking about Melisandre's death. I think she would have hated to die in the icy cold, "Death by fire is the purest death". But I think it was kind of her penance, for her "mistakes", and she embraced it as such.
This was the most intense, stressful, nerve- shredding episode of GoT! I feel your pain! The piano music is beautiful. I was terrified when it began as I was sure Sansa and Tyrion were going to commit suicide!

The suspense & the damn beautiful music was too much! Was I alone in thinking Sansa & Tyrion were going to kill themselves to contradict his “we’re fighters” statement?? I jumped up when he kissed her hand!
When Ed died - I was like what the fuck, it came out of nowhere.

When Beric started getting stabbed and was making live wall from him - I started crying a little respecting that man.
When Beric died - I cried a little

When Theon died - I was crying already
When Night King got killed, looked for a closest thing that I could at wall out of joy - ended up being my tissue box.
And then I cried again when Jorah was dying the death he wanted.
