I have the exact same motor mine won't rev up idles good. it barely go's forward and backwards won't accelerate proper speed. Any one had this problem same motor 85hp force. Thanks
It could be plugged high speed jets in the carbs or even ignition problems with a bad Stator, Trigger or Switchbox. You need to check your resistances and voltage outputs on each to determine if it’s electrical or a fuel related issue.
I have 85 force 125 , on cold engine will only start with carb spray . Once it’s on , stays on , No issues after that. On warm engine starts right up , I’ve clean carbs , adjust screw mixture but I just can get to turn on on cold . Is that a fuel pump problem ?
0708el… it sounds more like a choke solenoid problem. Check to make sure the butterflies are closing when you push the key in while starting. If the choke solenoid is working properly and butterflies are closing completely then I believe your carbs idle circuits may still be clogged. It’s also possible your primer bulb is bad. Make sure the primer bulb gets hard after squeezing it several times before starting the motor.
Would you happen to know why my 85 does this?? when I go full throttle it will not get out the hole just slowly pick up speed then all of a sudden it goes full out fast sometimes it will just go slow the whole time I changed the fuel filter and spark plugs it ran good that day then the next it started doing the same thing
It could be many things including but not limited to a faulty fuel pump, dirty high speed jets in the carb, fuel lines or even a bad stator or trigger.
The valve was connected between the gas tank and the primer bulb. This valve was designed to allow constant pressure to the carbs from an un-vented gas tank. This is what was recommended by the owners Marina to be more environmentally friendly and not allow fumes to escape to the atmosphere. It caused fuel starvation to the fuel pump.
This is why I called you last week. You are the man.. And boy the engine is clean. Great honest job.
Thanks Gil that is very kind
I Rea ally enjoy this vid! Seeing this 85 run fast and alive and fixed.!!..good job!
Thanks for the positive response. I really appreciate you watching and commenting. She really ran great finally!

Hi. I did not see what valve was by-passed. Not sure if I missed that.

@@LivetofishOutboardRepair Thanks for the very clear explanation. And the great video of Lake Sinclair.
hey i just got one from the auction, how you mix the gas?
You should add 50:1 (50 parts fuel to 1 part oil). You can use any TC-W3 two-stroke oil. I recommend QuickSilver Mercury.
How did you vent the tank if you took out the valve?
Greg… we just left the fill cap off of the 6 gal tank.
Cool!
Good size boat for only 85 hp
Scott T… I really thought the same thing. It really moved
