#FunFact: Ken Aldin's "Tuning Up," the tune used as the theme from _The $10,000 Pyramid,_ was performed/recorded by the group Frank And The Top Ten, and is available on their 1971 LP _Meet The Gang_ (Golden Ring #A 30 006 RM).
Here's my question, as beloved as this theme is... WHY for the better part of 10 years when the internet was in it's infancy, was NO mention made of this theme being released on vinyl record in 1971 on any of the game show sites? It wasn't until the CD release in 2006, that we ever heard this in clear, wonderful stereo quality.
Keep your eyes on this spot. You are about to see one celebrity and one contestant attempt to reach the top of this pyramid in less than one minute. Ladies and gentlemen, this is The $10,000 Pyramid! Today’s special guests are Bill Cullen and Arlene Francis! And now, here is your host, Dick Clark!
That's simply not true. The bassist on this track is clearly using a pick, something that Jameson never did. In fact, he was lauded for the use of his right index finger, colloquially known as "The Hook". Beyond the use of a pick, listen to the tone of the instrument and the notes that are played. Sounds closer to Roger Glover doing a poor imitation of Jameson than the man himself. Furthermore, the writer of the tune, Ken Aldin, is actually an alias for German composer Jürgen Franke. Franke did most, if not all, of his work in Germany. Whereas Jameson did the bulk of his work in either Detroit or Los Angeles. Stop talking shit.
Um, as far as I'm aware, pretty much everything after June 1978 is still intact, so that should mean at least 400 episodes or better of the $20K run should exist. Both $25K and $50K should still be complete (albeit still in the vaults).
I dont know about the vaults, so I didn't know. I'm talking about what I've SEEN to exist. I wouldn't know where to look for those episodes, but thank you.
Here's how my intro would start. 0:00-0:10; this is the Winner's Circle where someone could win a fortune of cash in less than a minute as, 0:10, from television city in Hollywood this is the $100,000 Pyramid.
@@samturner64 but when those versions came on Dick Clark explained why they moved those versions to CBS bcuz ABC wanted to move all game shows to night time and Dick was upset about that and he suggested to Bob Stewart to move to CBS Daytime correct?
This version is so 70s!
Back in the 1970s, used to love watching this show whenever I was off sick from school. Even then I thought the theme song was pretty cool.

To be honest with everyone Bob Cobert composed the '80s version of Tuning Up for The $25,000 Pyramid & The $100,000 Pyramid.
happy 49th birthday to the best game ever
Dang, playing this in my new car with a good stereo, it sounds amazing! This was the best version of the theme....period.
Dick Clark was the Ryan Secrest of his day! He was into everything!
Or Steve Harvey
More like Seacrest trying to emulate Clark. Certainly not the other way around
The blessed AHHHHH!!! AHHHHH!!! (Shatner giving away the answer then having a meltdown)
happy 50th Pyramaid
This is GREAT !!!! NICE JOB SAM !!!
This jam is 🔥

Happy 50th anniversary!

Loved the pyramid! One of my favorite game shows. Dick Clark was the greatest
Game show music like this is included in the reasons I will always prefer instrumental music over music with vocals.
This was a jam!
The bass riff was played by legendary jazz bassist James Jamerson, who inspired the likes of Flea, Paul McCartney, and Geddy Lee.
NO WAY! Cool...always love being off from school to watch 10,000 Pyramid and hearing this song.
It's so cool learning *even more* about this *LEGENDARY* TV theme tune!!

He also played bass in the song Shotgun by Jr Walker and the All Stars.

I used to think the buzz guitar was bagpipes...that's what happens when your TV didn't have stereo speakers...
Just tune it to the right channel. _There's_ the theme! 😎
Ha Ha, I used to think it was bells.
I thought it was a cheesy synthesizer.
Mannn this sholl is FUNKY 🕺🏾
The $25 grand Pyramid theme was the game changer.
Pretty awesome tune 🤘🤘
Although this theme is lesser known than the Bob Colbert theme, this version is cooler, especially with the buzz guitar arrangement.
this is the epitome (to me) of "in the pocket" for the low brass -- they're lagging behind beat just oh so barely but it sounds 100% tight!!

That was done when John Davidson hosted the Pyramid. I really liked that intro. It added a touch more drama to an already intense game.
The pyramid game show theme
1:25 I was wondering if they switched from orange to blue colors before or after the pyramid doubled the top prize. Looks like it was after!
I remember the theme was a pitch higher.
R.I.P.: Dick Clark 😢😢😢😢
what about the CBS run of the $100,000 and the $25,000 in the early and late 80's like 1983-1988 I think I got that right am I correct on that?
Yeah, those dates are right. Those versions used a revamped version of Tuning Up. Whereas, these 4 used the same one.

Uh sure? I really do not know specific events like that, but it does sound reasonable.
@@samturner64 I liked the ABC Version better than the CBS
I prefer this version to the one from the $25k/$100k pyramid, it sounded almost Egyptian to me. Egypt, Pyramids. 🤷♂️
CASH THEME.
