  • Another section completed this time we jumped ahead on the train to Llandovery so that we could make another two-day section from the trail. The weather was stunning, views were outstanding as ever. Mid -Wales gave my legs another good workout with its forever 'rolling hills'!
We camped on Y Carn Goch, an Iron Age Hillfort and watched the sun set over the miles of countryside that we've already walked. What a great way to end the day!
Followed by a 4:30am start to beat the hot day and get a cooked brekki in Llandeilo before catching the 10:20am train back to the cars.
A big shout-out to the infamous 'Dave Outdoors' for the exceptional drone footage. That with the Male voice choir was a great contribution to the video.

I'm with you there, I like my duvet at home and its the closest to it, these 'youngsters' seem to like camping in winter so I had to get myself 'tooled up' ready! UGQ is the dogs bananas..

Ha Ha!1 my little rouse nearly worked!!! We'll go back and 'fill in' some gaps but to be honest we've been plugging away at this thing for two years now and we want to say we've finished! Just a bit of careful editing will put that right!!! Thanks for watching. all the best, GJ XX

I paid UPS £79 import duty on top but strangely they’ve refunded me £11?? I think it’s not a bad exchange rate at the moment to buy US goods so still happy with what I paid 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi pal. Loved the video. I woukd be very interested in some more info about your sleep system. I have been struggling lately and been looking at quilts... What is the old and the new one you used and yiur sleep mat looks epic aswell. Cheers.

Morning, could be a long answer, maybe have a FaceTime chat or even get Dave Outdoors to do a 'live-chat' and we can get you on or something. basically, I tried a RAB sleeping bag and it drove me mad and then someone mentioned the Iceflame quilt, for £90 it was worth a punt and it worked. You do need a good thermal efficient sleeping mat for them to work as with a quilt there is no insulation on the bottom. The best one out there is the Thermarest Xtherm (r-value of 6.9). so I took the plunge and bought that. The Iceflame is only rated down to 5 degrees (although Ive woken up with a frost and been perfectly warm) so I wanted something for the upcoming winter. I decided to get one made for me by UGQ, I ticked all the boxes and had it 'over stuffed', the XL version, chose a wider cut, longer cut etc etc. there are off the shelf models but for not much more you can specify exactly what you want so I thought 'sod it' lets just do it properly once and for all. The exchange rate id decent just now so a $500 quilt cost me about £330. then you get shipping and import duties so all in all, it cost me £400. Here's a link to the site so play around with designing one and then just get google to translate the amount into GBP to see what you've spent! ugqoutdoor.com/top-quilts/xl-bandit/?ref=7501. As for the pillows, I like to sleep on my side so I jack up the end of the mat with a pillow, I then have two more (all sightly deflated) on the top, The Trekology pillows have straps to stop them from slipping off. Hope that helps, if you could do with more, as above, I'll ask Dave to do a live where we can talk about it and perhaps get you on as a guest so you can ask questions? Cheers, GJ

@@ashropshirelad that's great, thanks for the response and yes it does make sense I will certainly be looking at your suggestions and I have already found the trekology pillows and wondered how they where... Cheers for the advice and I will continue to watch your videos for more tips etc. Thanks again
