Superior Piloting Skills, this guy is good! Enjoy watching excellent landings on short runways & prop reversal just before wheels touch down...VERY impressive !!!
Airport is IFR approved, it has a localizer near 08 threshold (It is facing almost perpendicular to the runway), and an NDB on the opposite side. It even has PLASI lights. It's a high tech airport.
After watching a view of these Dash 8 videos and wondering why the pilot monitoring has to guard the power levers on short final, I think I've figured out why. It's because of the design of the reverse thrust activation. Rather than a distinct lever like on a 747 for example, the pilot on a Dash 8 simply pulls the power lever back past idle. The pilot monitoring has to guard them on approach so that the pilot flying doesn't accidentally engage the reverse thrust while the plane is still airborne. Am I right? Can anyone confirm?
turbofan450 To engage disc (beta) or reverse on the dash 8s you have to pull up on a toggle right under the power lever handles. You slide your fingers forward and under to grab them. You can sort of see the metal tabs in the last frame of this video. As for guarding them, it may be in case a go around is initiated. The pilot flying would initially advance the power levers and then the pilot monitoring would set a specific power setting (100% torque for example).
this is one hell of an approach!
Indeed!
You should try it under snowstorms
5:33 gotta love that sound
I LOVE THE DASH 8 and this massive Propsound !!!!! :))
We hear it everyday, such a unique sound to it
4:23 this is always me in flight simulator
Very nice video of the approach and landing!
Beautiful countryside, beautiful approach!

So much for Stabilized approaches at 500agl..Blimey. Love the Qs. The 200s and 100s rock.
one of the greatest landing i've seen
Amazing
Nice and cool landing💪🏻
Wow. Respect. What a creepy approach. Was that an In-Op sticker? If so, was that your other radio or what?
Hi Kenneth,
I presume that at this airport there are no ILS approaches, so, what kind off antennas are these, near 08 Threshold?

Va final'n sin det.. 😘
perfect landing
I believe he did catch the third wire.
I normally known the plane by the cockpit. This time I have no clue. What bird is that??
Dash 8
The bird is called LN-WIF and it's a Bombardier Dash8-100. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardier_Dash_8
Definitely sure it's an Antonov AN-225.

That playing with prop-pitch
Time between landing and making a U turn was just few seconds........................
Nice views! However, it is not a good idea to following each movement of the pilots with the camera.
Boeing 747 perhaps?
lol
Pretty sure that's an A380.
No, that's a lancaster bomber. I've been in one of those.

I bet the FO can push those buttons with closed eyes! He was fast, haha!
Take me with you captain
The INOP tape on the Nav2 makes me laugh lol
