  • Today, in both my 6th-grade and 7th-grade ELA classes, the students participated in Investigation Trails as an interactive and challenging way to check their comprehension of the first two chapters of "Boy: Tales of Childhood" by Roald Dahl (6th) and the first chapter of "Red Scarf Girl" by Ji Li Jiang (7th). Each trail included 10 multiple-choice questions, and depending on which choice they made, it sent them to various locations to answer more questions. The really cool part about these Investigation Trails is that they each had a built in self-check! If students answered a question (or more) incorrectly, they discovered that their trail didn't make sense because they were directed to questions they already answered! This allowed students to go back and check their answers for accuracy. Once every team completed the trail, we went over the questions and answers as a class.
