I'm a Protestant. I've been searching for about 8 months, so I'm just at the beginning of my journey. I'm so grateful for your care for everyone's soul. I trust you to tell me the truth in love. You have said some hard things over the time I've been watching you, but I know that you're saying those things because you care. Please pray for me.
I’m a recent convert to Catholicism. In my 40s been searching spiritually since I was 17. From Buddhism to Islam. Reading everything I could. And always very critical of the Catholic Church. Then one day 2 years ago I was called to the Catholic Church and last Easter became Catholic. One of the best decisions in my life. God bless
I’m a convert from the poly-queer world and I stand with the traditional church’s teaching because it’s so beautiful it changed my whole life. what Holy Mother Church teaches about sexuality is exactly the freedom I was searching for in all those relationships. It doesn’t mean you’re a horrible rotten human for feeling lgbtq it just means we each get to make choices and we can choose to follow Christ. We can choose our destiney he has created for us instead of abandoning our purpose to follow feelings and desires.
Thank you for saying this. I feel that those that turn away from the sin we are seeing so prevalent right now have an unbelievable opportunity to change hearts & minds. I pray that Jesus heals your soul completely so that you can use your amazing testimony!!! God bless
I wholeheartedly agree! Hook up culture and feminism almost ruined my life. I didn’t realize until the trans agenda started to demean womanhood that feminism was a complete sham. I was born in 99 so it’s all I’ve known, liberal culture that is. My dad is a huge Bernie Sanders socialist. Luckily, the Blessed Mother showed me what true womanhood and femininity is. I think God for her as His gift to humanity.
I've lost most of my friends to the issues of disordered sexual temptations, some of which I consider my best friends (though we don't talk anymore, or they don't talk to me rather). I hope that one day the Holy Spirit will overwhelm them with grace so that they open their eyes to the madness of today's trends (nothing new or progressive in human's history).
Your lost friends are in your heart and your praying for them which actually means you’re best friend they all have (even though they’re not in your life, but I hope you know what I mean.). God is making massive room for new, Christ-lover friends. Stay courageous!
That is a good sign you are on the right path to holiness. My friends are also gone and my family remains distant. All that remains is Christ and heaven. It’s better to walk with Christ alone then with anyone else.
@@estebangonzalez8096 I feel for you and I admire your devotion to the Lord. I do think it’s possible to seek and find the fellowship of others who have arrived at a similar devotion in their own lives, though, and to derive sustenance and comfort from that fellowship. I have heard that members of the apostolate Courage*, after having embraced the Church’s teachings on chastity, often find themselves in great need of friendship and support from people who “get them”. It was for this reason that the group Encourage was founded. I’m going to contact Encourage to find out if there are opportunities to connect with people locally. I wonder if you’d have any interest in trying something like that? Just a thought. By the way, if anyone reading this has not seen the documentary “Desire of the Everlasting Hills” and the film “The Third Way: Homosexuality and the Catholic Church” (both on TH-cam still, I believe) I would reeeally encourage him or her to watch these as they are beautifully done and very moving. *Courage, Intl. is a Catholic apostolate for people who live with same-sex attraction but who endeavor to live chaste lives according to Christ’s teaching. It was because of the awesome witness of men and women in Courage that I finally opened my mind to the Church’s teaching on sexual morality after many years of rejecting it. Please pray for the members and leaders of Courage and try to help them in any way you can.
My parish priest preached about hell & the importance of repentance. It was really refreshing to hear & we need more of it. It really is about the salvation of souls. Put on the armour of God & get out there 🙏✝️🛡️🗡️
As a Protestant who is seriously considering Catholicism, what are faithful Catholics to do? If a Catholic is required to obey the Pope as authority as part of commitment to The Church, how can we make that profession and still be faithful to the Lord?
@@rdnugent1 you only have this problem IF you believe Francis is Pope. Read about the 1961-1965 Garabandal apparitions of Mary. The Garabandal Seer Conchita Gonzalez said in 1963 upon the Death of Pope John XX111 that Mother Mary told her there would only be 4 more Popes after Pope John. Francis is the 5th since that statement. Therefore Francis is not Pope and he can be safely ignored. "Dominus Vobiscum"
@@rdnugent1Go look up Michael Lofton at Reason & Theology, for a much more nuanced and charitable view on the current state of the Church. Obeying the Pope does not go against obeying Our Lord.
@@rdnugent1as a criddle catholic, if I have to choose between a man (pope) & God’s teachings, I choose God!!! I will keep following the true magisterium of the Catholic Church. I would not acknowledge, nor support whatever thing the new church leaders come up with that goes against what Jesus thought is which is all in the Bible 😉☺️😇
To answer Matt's question: I'm a 26 yo cradle catholic. I skipped Sunday mass probably less than 10 times in my whole life. I grew up in a rural part of France and until moving to a larger city, where I eventually found out about the TLM, I had never heard any homely about hell. Nor have I heared a priest speak about mortal sin and its consequences. Isn't it incredibly sad? I've been practicing my faith for a quarter of a century, and live in France, the eldest daughter of the Church. I owe my faith to my parents, especially my mum, who made sure we prayed every day, often saying a rosary. Nowadays, thanks to the internet, I do have access to some interesting Catholic content, which helps me learn more about our faith. At the moment, I live in Luxembourg, cardinal Hollerich's (the head of the synod) archdiocese. It's even WORSE than France. Even at the TLM parish in the capital city, less than 20 people attend Sunday mass. In ordinary parishes, churches here are less than 30% full on SUNDAYS. In France, in the TLM parish I went to before moving here, you had to be at church at least 15 min before mass started if you wanted to find a seat - otherwise it's too full. There's so much to be said about European bishops. Most of them are either liberals, or too scared to speak up against what's going on. Their policy is that no news from the Church is good news. The less you hear about Her, the better. The sex scandals have traumatised them, unfortunately. My previous bishop, God have mercy on him, forbade the priests from wearing a cassock, which he considered too visible...
Wow. As bad as it is in America, which is bad, Europe is so much worse! I feel so heartbroken over Europe, over the whole West. How weak and pathetic we have all become! Jesus Have Mercy on us all!
Yes the sex scandal was bad but the church could have recovered by dealing with the perpetrators in a strict way. Instead, they " forgave" and moved them on to new parishes. Plus the assualts on nuns. I think what REALLY moved people away from the church was how these actions were handled. That is what people can't forgive. Yes everywhere there will be predators on the weak, but once they are found out, they should be made an example of so it does not happen again and puts the fear of God into any intending perpetrators. That never happened and it just gave a green light to them. Hence further abominations have crept into the church. God will deal with these bad shepherds very severely but he will not allow his church to fail.
Dr. Martin might be my favorite guest that Matt has had on the show. He just has a way of putting things that captures the gravity of the situation of the Church and the world, but in a very grounded and comforting way. I definitely think that something big is on the horizon for our Church, but Dr. Martin has greatly helped me realize the importance of still being joyful and Christ-centered despite the chaos. Thank you Matt for providing another great interview! ❤
I have to say that I love this channel and have learned so much! Don’t know where it was but where you said the more time you said with Jesus, the closer. My husband has Alzheimers and because we socialize almost nothing, I started going to daily mass and take my husband 3 days. We volunteered for Alzheimers together for 5 years but no longer can, obviously. Going to daily mass has made my faith grow so much and the depression I use to see in family members of Alzheimers people does not exist for me. Instead, I am growing in my faith. I love these podcast and continue to grow in my faith! Thank you!
This is such a beautiful comment and your passion and love for Jesus is changing everyone around you. And anyone reading your comment! Stay courageous and faithful!!
It feels good to hear that America is being singled out together with Africa and Poland! What great company... and Ralph and Matt... I'm so grateful for you and for TH-cam to be able to listen in, thank you, gentlemen!
If I had to label myself, I would say I am a Novus Ordo guy. I respect Tridentine and Byzantine 100%. And I love your suggestion at 54:54. There is a priest who celebrates the Novus at a parish in the Greater Boston area, and he has incorporated the Altar rail into the Liturgy and really does have a profound affect on the reverence of the Mass and Eucharist. Several priests in the Boston area also include a little bit of Latin Gregorian Chant during the Novus Ordo, and that is quite beautiful. as well. I appreciate the charity backed criticisms in this discussion with Ralph. He is careful with the way he expresses his concern and I find that to be very helpful. Keep up the good work PWA. God bless us all and keep us. ❤
@@eabm1984 I didn't know that and so I looked it up and it appears you are correct. I'll look into it some more, thank you for mentioning that. I will leave my original comment un-edited so that people may read yours and understand the context. God bless you and keep you!
I just want to point out what a great place Pints with Aquinas is for interviews, I appreciate the moments when the conversation lulls then it stops, but it isn't an uncomfortable silence but a thoughtful one then the conversation proceeds. Or the opposite when the conversation is nonstop and jumps from one place to the other. Great job guys! And Godbless you all that work to make such awesome content.
The number of people calling Pope Francis "Bergolio" and attacking and insulting anyone who fact checked Dr. Martin in this comment section is alarming.
This is just SOO good ! I keep listening to it over and over and get more information every time ! It gives so much peace and direction ! Thank you Dr Martin and especially PFA !
This interview with Ralph Martin was amazing. Matt, your show is the best. You are not afraid to talk about the difficult subjects, and you do so through the eyes of our Catholic faith. Thank you for your ministry here on “Pints with Aquinas”. God Bless.

This episode has by far had the most impact on me, both spiritually and education. Moments of the video resonated and answered so many questions that have lingered in my mind. Thank you Matt & Ralph ☘️🇮🇪
This is the first time that I’ve listened to your program, and I found it to be very enlightening and also encouraging! I particularly liked hearing about Dr. Martin’s morning prayer routine and hope to become more disciplined with that aspect of my daily “things to do“! It inspired me to make a change! I find Dr. Martin to be very honest, very loyal, and very humble in his remarks, and that is what helps me to know that he is speaking the Truth!! I will be listening again, and will definitely be sharing this program with my Rosary Group/Prrayer friends! Thank you and God bless you for all you are doing to clarify Truth, and draw souls closer to God, holy Catholic Faith!!
I think you may reconsider the 10-year mark for new priests. We're blessed here in Denver to have priests ordained up to 15 years ago that are right there with the guys that are being ordained now and within your 10-year parameter.
Our Lady for hundreds of years has said this would happen. Chastisement is coming with fire. Stay close to the Bible, the Church Fathers and the Saints. That is what I’ve decided to do. Trust in Jesus.
I love the Church and have been concerned about the output from Rome recently. As a 23 year old who only started practicing about 5 years ago Pope Francis is all I’ve ever known. Confusion is all I’ve ever known. Would be nice to have a JP2/Ratzinger type back in the Vatican. There also seems to be an argument between the Michael Lofton types (derogatorily called “popesplainers”) and I suppose the “rad Trads”. I’ve watched a lot of Lofton lately, but I also have exposure to many voices who are more critical of the pope. I think Erik Ybarra, Ralph Martin, and to an extent Matt Fradd fall under that “more critical” category to varying degrees (Martin seems to be the most critical out of the three I mentioned). Personally I just can’t fully buy what Lofton is selling. He not only defends the pope against heresy (which I wholeheartedly agree with, he has not spouted heresy up to this point as many “rad trad” types have said) but he actually praises the pope and cardinal Fernandez for their clarity. I just don’t see that. I read the latest Dubia, I get that they didn’t change doctrine (Lofton has helped me see that), but it just seems like everything Pope Francis does is him trying extra hard to toe the line and push Catholicism to it’s progressive limits without actually changing doctrine. This is just not the correct mindset to have in this day and age. We need to be rooted firmly in Christ, not trying to push the limits of orthodoxy. The reality is, that though the Pope is not leading the Church into heresy, he is leading it into ambiguity. He is “making a mess” as he said himself.
I listen to Lofton as well, but I don't see the Pope as pushing the church into a progressive church. I see him trying to open the church up to sinners like LGBT+ so that they may be transformed. And a lot of these Rad Trads and such are more like the Pharisees who are calling out Jesus for eating with sinners, adulterers and tax collectors. But when I read Pope Francis, it sounds like to me he truly believes the sacraments will help heal these broken people who are the LGBT group. And it has helped heal me as well. In the other side he is also battling the progressives as well. So we have schismatics with the Rad Trads and the Progressives. But like Jesus we need to "desire mercy not sacrifice." It's a difficult spot to be in. And remember that the Pope is just a man. He is not perfect. And he is not Jesus. But he was put into place by the Holy Spirit in the place of Christ. I think prayer instead of dissension is best. The Rad Trads and the Progressives are taking the route of Martin Luther. And I would say that there are plenty of Protestant churches.
Check out dr. Taylor Marshall too. He’s on the “rad trad” side. The older I get and the more children I have the more I see clearly what the world is and how our children need to be protected from it with a firm strong faith not some wishy washy theories.
I read the dubia too and honestly I came to the conclusion that Pope Francis has been pretty clear, and keep getting hit with “rare case” questions that he tried to answer tactfully. Granted the Pope isn’t perfect, but he is really far more direct and straightforward than people give him any credit for. He’s also a pretty conservative pontiff who has spoken out more directly and even graphically against things like abortion, same sex “marriage,” and transgenderism than any of his predecessors. So in short, it really seems like Lofton’s views are accurate. I’ve come around to understanding and agreeing hi as a sensible middle ground voice of reason, rather than as a member of a polarized “side” pushing an agenda.
We are so grateful for the diocese of Arlington, VA. We've been members of two different parishes here and at both locations have heard numerous homilies on hell, the reality of the devil and demons, and how we must choose our faith over the world.
I’m in the Baltimore diocese but spend many weekends with my mom in Purcelleville, VA. Going to the parish there (St. Francis de Sales) is like going to heaven for the time I’m there.
I agree. My small parish has 3 seminarians, and the diocese as a whole is doing well, especially considering how close it is to others which are not. May God Bless Bishop Burbidge, and give us many good bishops and priests.
This is just so refreshing thank you to you both for this episode. Mr Ralph, you are a fantastic evangelist and I’m praying for you for continued strength and courage. Many blessing to you Matt and Ralph!
Let's keep our eyes on Jesus, not on the strong winds or turbulent waves. Keep walking toward him lest we sink. Stay faithful to his Church and his teachings, and dont mind all the noise and mess various theologians are making. Things will sort themselves out. Let us keep leading good lives of prayer, service and sacraments. That's what matters.
Thank you so so much for this. So clear. So insightful. So respectful of those in error. Irelands bishops are not standing up. But there are some strong laity here. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth.
Archbishop Fulton Sheen noted that the hope of the Church is sustained by the faithful laity. The faithful laity must challenge the priests and bishops to feed them with the authentic Word of God emphasizing the necessity of saying "Yes" to Jesus who calls us to "Reform your life. Repent and believe in the Gospel."
Re " get over the shame of the Gospel" : evangelicals are decades ahead on this issue. It seems to me that most of the serious and seasoned evangelical "foot soldiers" has already struggled with this and answered that question for themselves. Flirting with the world doesn't work. Disclosure: I am a new Eastern Orthodox with decades history of Evangelical church going. Converted to Jesus from atheism just reading the Gospel, and spent years of just reading the Word before He brought me to the Church. I would not deny any bit of my journey with Christ, and am grateful for the patience with which He introduced the moral argument to me persistently, over time. When I finally heard Him there was no more cutting me any slacks, no more baby formula. It was terrifying, painful, but liberating. Now it grieves me to hear of the painful confusion in The Catholic Church, I so love your beautiful tradition and all the faithful. Praying. Please pray for us as well, all The Body of Christ is facing trials. ❤ Love
100% agree with you Matt about bringing back Altar rails and Ad Orientem. It reminds you who you are kneeling before and brings humility when you attend Mass or weekly Adoration of our King and Lord. And yes, we have heard sermons on hell , both by Archbishop Fisher in Sydney a couple of years ago during lockdown and also at our traditional parish.
Thank you thank you thank you this has been so good so informative and grew my faith in the one true church that much more in times of unease I am so grateful thank you and thank God for this
Thank you for this conversation! God bless Ralph for being such a mouthpiece for the Truth! Also, 1000% agree with Matt regarding receiving Holy Communion on the tongue Kneeling and priests facing Ad Orientem! Eucharistic revival will not take place until we bring back the Sacred Worship of Christ in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass with silence, chant, beautiful sacred hymns, incense, dressing appropriately etc….🙏🙏
Awesome interview. Ralph Martin is a smart guy who pulls no punches. His channel, Renewal Ministries, is great. He's right about staying with the Church. I'm currently part of a small group and we talked about this very subject the other night. I said it then and I'll say it again, I wandered around on my own way too long to let the Pope or anyone else run me off. I'm back home and I thank Mother Mary for helping guide me there and for her Son and our Savior for keeping the light on for an old sinner like me. Like the Prodigal Son come back to life, I'm never leaving home again. Keep your eye on the prize and give your heart to God. Christ said the gates of Hell could not overcome His church. Trust in Him.
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit was revolutionary for my spiritual life back in the ‘70s. Been on passion for the Lord ever since. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity and is the gasoline that makes the car run with power.
I have heard preaching so many times about hell. Always in Opus Dei spiritual retreats: one meditation for hell, one for purgatory and one for heaven (at every single Opus Dei spiritual retreat I have attended). And I’m so grateful for those preachings.
It's frustrating for sure. But ....before I had an encounter with Jesus I would've been a worldly Catholic. Going in at behaviour won't attract people. Going in with identity, belonging etc leads to conversion/ encounter/receiving the Holy Spirit and then formation leads towards behaviour. I haven't met anyone that truly received the Holy Spirit that believes certain things are ok that we know are not. Some leaders in the church need to be led to a true encounter ❤ Much prayer and surrender needed. Lord have mercy on us all 🙏
Love your comment. Leaders (everyone for that matter) need a true encounter. I have a clear memory from high school, during a Sunday homily, the priest said that being a Catholic means believing in everything that the church teaches and not simply picking the things we like and ignoring the things we don’t like. I couldn’t wrap my head around this. It seemed almost impossible to me back then that anyone would actually believe wholeheartedly in the Catechism. As a teen, I bought the whole leftist ideals. Fast forward about 10-15 years, Jesus has revealed himself to me, and I absolutely agree with you… anyone who has a true encounter with the Holy Spirit would see the truth in the Catholic Church and behaviour would form accordingly. Thank God that He straightened my path. Praying that everyone has the same encounter.
There is so much truth in your comment. With him sin is so clear and failing Him is just painful. You can’t bare being around things that are wrong to Him. I think, how can it be with “leaders”, it must be lack of Holy Spirit. Your comment spoke to me!❤
We had a good priest regularly preach on hell, being ready for martyrdom, good, evil, etc. and he articulated it really well. Boy, did the complaints pour in.
Watching this, sitting in the Calgary airport. Had to stop. You were preempted by the Sisters of Divine Mercy. We had an impromptu, beautiful community rosary right there on the concourse. As per usual, I had tears in my eyes. We need to witness our love of Christ in the way we live our day. That is the single most thing we can do to bring our fellow souls back to Christ. Pray like you mean it. Pray as if it were the last breath you had. Remember He to whom you pray. That will help you focus. You will have no choice but to fall hopelessly in love.
Thank you for this talk. I am living in Luxembourg and Cardinal Hollerich comments and apparent stance are very troubling. For myself personally it's not confusing but I know for whom it is practicing and new Catholics. Rocking the beard Matt. Cool look.
Living in Germany I did once hear a sermon about being ready to die but from an African priest who'd been rejected by his former German parish fir his outspokenness.
This interview was extremely helpful. Pints has played a MAJOR role in my conversion to Christianity. Still trying to discern between becoming Catholic vs becoming Eastern Orthodox. It’s been really hard feeling stuck between the two faiths and two communities. Orthodoxy definitely does a better job of sticking to the traditional teachings in a unified way. But it also feels rigid and insular. For now I will keep praying and keep showing up in both communities
If you're feeling that way regarding Eastern Orthodoxy, may I suggest you watch the playlist "Recovering from Radical Traditionalism" here on TH-cam. It shows how actually Catholicism does a much better job of sticking to the traditional teachings, even under Pope Francis.
Honestly I feel you but I think these attacks are intentional and meant to make it seem unapproachable from the outside just like the abuse scandals my studies led me her it reminds me of when Jesus said you must eat of my flesh and drink of my blood or you have no life within you the listeners all left, he asked the apostles will you leave too and they said to whom else shall we go Scripture tells me satan won’t prevail against Jesus’ church but it doesn’t say it won’t be attacked honestly I want to be street preaching bringing people in because the times were in but it seems almost impossible to point towards the Church with so many things scandalizing it I kinda don’t think that’s an accident anyways stand strong for Christ he never said following him would be easy
@@darkstorm207 Thanks! is that from the reason and theology podcast? It says there are over 300 videos on this playlist. could you, perhaps, suggest your top three?
@@dentellierYes, it is from the Reason and Theology podcast. I can recommend three videos that I recently watched and found quite informative: 1. 57:07 I'm a parish point person for the Eucharistic Revival in my archdiocese. We had a presentation where the presenter, from Notte Dame and wrote a lot of the copy for the kickoff videos, talked about reverence. The definition became reverence is however and whatever you want it to be. I spoke out out against that and said no. The director of evangelization basically chewed me out for calling out this prestigious doctor who gave up his time to talk to us. I was flabbergasted. Reverence isn't how you feel it's how you're to worship. Man, I was neverso taken aback.
Have I heard a homily on, "Save yourself from this wicked generation." No. Have I preached about it? I'm not sure, but I did write something about it once. When I was in seminary we had so many talks about priests talking across generations and getting along. This amounted to how do we get the young cassock wearing priests to get with the program. (This was all still in the Pope Benedict days). I wrote an essay about real unity in the priesthood comes from God the Holy Spirit, not from endless meetings, barbecues or even saying the same words. If we had real unity in the Holy Spirit then priests (and laity for that matter) could disagree strongly and still share their faith in God. I wrote in my essay that to seek unity apart from God is to preach another gospel. I could not have imagined then how much 'preaching another gospel' in favor of 'unity', and 'journeying' would return. I think I need to lookup my essay and rewrite it for today.
I think there are a bunch of unfounded accusations here. For example if you need to repent of your sins to get baptized normally then. "...under they same conditions as other believers..." already covers that. Also Fernandez has been abundantly clear that we can't bless a homosexual union but we can bless persons that are in such a union because we can bless anyone. A bunch of things like that... I'm glad Matt keeps asking the right questions.
Yes. Dr. Martin made several statements that need to be walked back. Matt started the interview with a far better take than Dr. Martin provided. I hope he had the good sense to ignore the falsehoods.
Ralph, you have been instrumental in my Faith for years and years … and I am asking God to greatly bless you in this life and in the next. I owe you so much. +++
He is just a man, and a very fallible one at that. You don’t owe Ralph anything. Christ alone saves through his death and resurrection, and his grace through the sacraments.
@@Justaguy5678 - I believe that is up to me - and not you - to decide if I owe Ralph a huge debt of gratitude or not. Please don’t lecture me on where my salvation comes from … I know. I have known my whole life. I also know that many people in my life have helped me in my Faith; helped me to discern, prayed for me, taught me and gave me spiritual guidance … and Ralph was one of those people. As are the many saints I ask to pray for me daily. Are you not a Catholic? Because you don’t sound like one.
Wonderful wonderful dialogue! I do think the laity are called to speak out because we can’t be cancelled. I was in religious life for 7 years and that was a legitimate fear when Pope Francis was elected. He could have easily shut down the religious order. That being said, this is Christ’s church and he steers the ship amidst the storms. Be holy! That’s the takeaway in all this confusion.
I agree with Ralph about using "normal" language when describing advanced concepts. I am a math professor, and I use regular English along with jargon to help students understand what I am trying to teach.
Matt, I just feel you are having a difficult time to not popeslain in your head. I think many of us have been there, but then it’s time to face the hard evidence.
Thanks for having this holy wise man on your program. Ralph Martin cares deeply about Holy Mother Church. Ambiguity is the whole purpose and foundational to what this pontificate is trying to do…create an entirely new ape of the church.
@@hopefulforhumanity5625 See my large comment in the main thread. Dr. Martin is leaving out information that literally refutes what he is saying. I’m not saying that he is intentionally doing this but there are many times where this happens in this conversation. I love Dr. Martin. I remember him from FIRE rallies in the 80’s, I think that these errors need to be pointed out though. Matt Fradd is actually more correct on some of the issues that were brought up than Dr. Martin. I’ve personally never seen him this sloppy in his research. It’s pretty disappointing.
Watching this video everything that Ralph Martin says sounds spot on, especially about the confusion coming from Rome. That said, there are other TH-camrs out there that would have me believe that everything is just one gigantic misunderstanding, and that these bishops, cardinals, and priests who criticize Rome are just misinformed and simply misunderstand Pope Francis. They also parse every word he says, and show how technically nothing is being changed. My heart tells me that something has changed, but why doesn't anyone address the arguments being made by these who profess to be conservative Catholics and still defend what is coming from Rome? That would be very helpful. For instance, I just heard an apologist say that it is not true that baptism of trans individuals doesn't require repentance. So, who is right about this?
God bless you for all the work you do. I was very saddened by the dismissal from his post of Bishop Strickland. It is so upsetting that clergy involved in paedophilia are just moved around and outspoken priest that want to follow the Word of Christ are taken away from us. It just show the stat the church is in . Very disheartening
Thank you Dr. Martin for your witness through all these years. One does get easily discouraged but we know God is in charge. Please continue to speak out. Pray for us in Canada as we pray for our Pope and leaders. Come Lord Jesus. P.S. Latest update Nov. 30, Pope cancelled trip due to ill health - unable to attend the Climate Change conference!
Not that Matt will read this, but why not have Fr James Martin on? I don’t agree with his stances, but I think it would be nice to get out of the left-right divide every now and then.
Thank you for speaking the truth and I agree with Ralph. I see the ambiguity as intentional, but I’m not at all charitable because I believe it is part duplicitous and part cowardice. I want to fight for the church. I’m not leaving. Jesus is the bridegroom and the church His bride. You both are human heroes for me. Praying for you.
So you can judge what's in the heart of the pope, regard him with evil suspicion (a sin), and admit to willfully disregarding the virtue of charity? That's a really bad start to fighting for the Church. It's worse on a channel named after St. Thomas Aquinas since he specifically warns against that: "In these words (Matthew 7:1) our Lord forbids rash judgment which is about the inward intention, or other uncertain things, as Augustine states… Or again according to Chrysostom, He forbids the judgment which proceeds not from benevolence but from bitterness of heart. (Summa Theologiae II-II.60.2)"
@@benecliptus but, we are obligated to discern right vs wrong. When we listen to corporate leaders, politicians, and even parents and they appear to be saying one thing, and doing another, we must take a harder look at the person’s direction. If we make a decision to stop judging right vs wrong, then in fact we are unable to love properly. Because the foundation of love is to will, work for and promote the good of another. Additionally, I could take exception to your judgment of me as if my concern is from bitterness of heart. The Lord said the road to perdition is wide and many will follow it. I pray no one is vulnerable to the half truths of the devil that rejoices when we step on that road.
@@susanburnett You shifted wildly from the original point. We're not talking about secular affairs, we're talking about the Church and the respect due to the Supreme Pontiff. Let's recap: You called the pope and by extension, the magisterium, duplicitous and cowardly, impugned his motives and said that you do not practice charity in your discernment. You're even implying that the Pope is engaging in demonic half-truths, imperiling souls. If you're going to take exception with anyone, take it with yourself, because you characterized you that way, not me. Regardless, you're out of line in judging the pope.
@@benecliptusJesus said You are Peter and on this Rock I will build my Church … and the gates of Hades shall not overcome it. The Synod didn’t change nor has authority to change. This podcast is published, Dr. Martin expresses his concerns (rightfully so as he is passionate about our faith) and early this morning, Pope Francis in a very rare move- removes Bishop Strickland from the great state of Texas. I’m praying several rosaries today to contain my emotions because it’s the only thing I can do. Dr. Martin is right about what the Pope thinks of America. Of all the bishops and he “picks” Bishop Strickland to be removed. Incredible. Pray pray pray 🙏🏼
I agree with pretty much everything ralph is saying honestly. I especially agree with what you are saying about the need to focus on repentance and expecially reparation . MAJORLY reparation. Because we are not going to see the graces of conversion and repentance till we mend the wounds in christs majorly neglected and abused heart.
I think Dr. Martin's presentation of the Dubia response is leading, the documents clearly state that people of these sexual disorders must be baptized 'in the same way as other believers' part of the confession before baptism is the Renunciation of Satan and all his evil ways, there is no way that is possible to actually know someone's intention, and the Baptism itself is administered by the Holy Spirit, through the priest acting 'in personam Christi' if we seriously believe the Holy Spirit is so weak, as to not be able to stop someone who may not be 100% fully committed to the ideals of the Church, then I might as well go back to Atheism, as I was suffering Scrupulousity and self-hatred before and after my baptism. 'Even if [the Pope an incarnate devil], we ought not to raise up our heads against him, but calmly lie down to rest on his bosom... He who rebels against our Father is condemned to death, for that which we do to him we do to Christ: we honor Christ if we honor the Pope; we dishonor Christ if we dishonor the Pope. I know very well that many defend themselves by boasting: 'They are so corrupt, and work all manner of evil!' But God has commanded that, even if the priests, the pastors, and Christ-on-earth were incarnate devils, we be obedient and subject to them, not for their sakes, but for the sake of God, and out of obedience to Him' -St. Catherine of Siena, Doctor of the Church, who lived through the AVIGNON PAPACY, definitely a far worse time than now.
Wise words my friend. The first sentence of that paragraph was not read out, Why? So this has mislead viewers. Michael Lofton’s video has pointed out the errors in this interview . A well worth watch! God bless🙏
@christinemcguiness9356 I've followed Michael for a while now, truly the voice of Reason among all the hype and media lies. God Bless and keep you, friend.
What the Pope’s document sounds like is something I experienced in the 90’s called “consensus decision making.” It was billed as a “bottom up” process that made everyone feel heard, at least until they realized that someone’s value system and assumptions had been predetermined . And that value system was pre-chosen. Eventually people realized that the results, too, had been pre-chosen, and the whole process was an empty exercise.
On “save yourself from this wicked generation”. Knowing the tactics of the enemy, specific to ourselves, and too, knowing how we have cooperated with the enemy in the lies, is important to the spiritual life in Jesus. The ministry of Unbound through Heart of the Father Ministries has helped many to know how to “save ourselves” through the power of our Baptism in Christ, in the name of Jesus. Peter Herbeck at Renewal Ministries speaks well on this.
For those who have doubts keep in mind that it’s not quite fair to compare any other form of Christianity to the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is basically mainstream Christianity and home to around 55% of Christendom spread across the world touching many cultures through the Latin Church. Let’s compare that with the Orthodox churches who are home to around 10% of Christendom most of which live in Russia and Eastern Europe. Catholics in the US number around ~60,000,000…compared to the the varieties of Orthodox in the US who all together only number around ~700,000. You could say Catholicism is in a crisis because it has made such an impact and is so involved with our changing world. The experimental project triggered by V2 is a project of progressives in the Latin Church to rebrand our Latin Church into an ex-Tridentine de-Latinized “World Church” open to promoting programmatic inculturation and accommodation - with Protestants, non-western nations, and “modern man”. This has not been as success. Progressives think this is what needs to be done, and we should trust the process… “Trads” are basically just Catholics of the Latin Church (98% of Catholics) who want to caution against the experimental overhaul and restore our Latin patrimony (Ratzinger). This kind of battle between trads and progressives is an unresolved identity crisis in the Latin Church. And the papacy of Francis has kind of instigated this old disagreement and re-empowered the dying progressive voice in the church.. so for Trads it can feel like a hard fight, and an uphill battle these days… but it’s a battle worth fighting. Catholics who become disenchanted and look to “the East” are presented with a seeming “oasis” but they should keep in mind that “the East” doesn’t have our struggle because they are not our size and haven’t walked in our shoes. Eastern Christianity is a small hipster niche brand of Christianity… a bubble of religious escapism. The Latin Church has had many problems in the past but she will also have greater glory in the future. But we cannot flee just because we want to escape the tensions leaking in from clown world. This is our problem, our responsibility, and God will turn this ship around. The survival of Christian civilization depends on the fight at the center of the Catholic Church.
It’s a very hard moment for me what’s happening in the Catholic Church today! I have the certainty that God the Father, the Son and the HOLY SPIRIT will protect the Church against all evil! This is a painful episode we are going through. I will remain in the Holy Catholic Church receiving the Sacraments and praying. Lord have mercy!
*CHRIST SPEAKS REGARDING BAD POPES* Mt. 24:43 But know this, that if the goodman *of THE HOUSE* had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and *would not have suffered HIS HOUSE to be BROKEN UP.* 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. 45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, *whom his lord hath made RULER over HIS HOUSEHOLD* to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him *RULER over all his goods.* 48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49 *And shall begin to smite his fellowservants,* and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The *lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,* 51 *And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.*
The Holy Father really is ambitious on a lot of points, BUT the American culture wars has infected all other western countries, and tbh the "culture war" mind set is not good for thinking clearly and calmly.
@@giulianobrugellis1614 Political conservatives have a tendency to idolize people who say things they agree with. In my opinion, I've noticed political conservatives become more aggressive, worrisome, and afraid whenever elections don't go their way or whenever a non-conservative is President. Sadly, American obsession with politics infiltrates the life of the Church.
Ralph Martin is my favorite guest on your show. Always informative, always great questions asked/ answered, and always thankful. Great conversation! 😊 52:52
Matt and Thursday. Please bring Michael Lofton back on your show and have a discussion. I think it is worth challenging him and all of us Catholics as well.
Seconding this. Some points raised during this interview are straight up confusing especially to new converts. Lofton is much more forgiving of the holy father and has the receipts to back it up.
Absolutely second this. And even though Pints has had Loften on the show before, that should not have any weight whatsoever. Ralph Martin has been on multiple times.
Why doesn't Dr. Martin read aloud the part of the vatican document, where it says, specifically, that transexuals can be baptized "under the same conditions as other believers" just, why did he leave that part out? It's a very, very important part to have left out. Why did he cut that part off?
But don’t you see the problem? Transexuals, coming as they are, are de facto not coming under “the same conditions.” Why not just reaffirm that transexuals are living in grave sin and need to repent. Only then should they present themselves for baptism.
“You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruit that befits repentance, and do not presume to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire." Matthew 3.7-10
I'll be praying for you! May God be with you through your journey!
Prayers for you. The Catholic Church is the True Church. Please come home to it.
I’m a Protestant and converting to RC. I feel my faith now is complete.
God bless
Come home to The Crucifixion. ✝️
Welcome home! I was a nonbinary/ demi and a witch before converting so I totally get what you mean. The TLM is so wonderful 💖💖
Thank you for saying this. I feel that those that turn away from the sin we are seeing so prevalent right now have an unbelievable opportunity to change hearts & minds. I pray that Jesus heals your soul completely so that you can use your amazing testimony!!! God bless
Thank you 🙏🏼 I love learning more about these subjects. ❤️✝️🙏🏼 #TLM ❤️
God bless you. You are so spot on. It takes true humility to deny yourself to accept Jesus’ teachings. I love hearing your story.
🙏🏼
Your lost friends are in your heart and your praying for them which actually means you’re best friend they all have (even though they’re not in your life, but I hope you know what I mean.).
God is making massive room for new, Christ-lover friends. Stay courageous!
Stay strong, Brother 💪Truth is a great form of charity

Praying for your for continued faith and courage. May Jesus and his Holy Mama always be with you
Hoping some of my faith rubs off on my kids. Was your TLM parish in France FSSP or Diocesan? Blessings for your continued faith.
You see this often in many churches in the United States
My daily mantra, “this isn’t Pope Francis’s Church. This is Christ’s Church.”
Matt, your sobering account of staying in the church helped us convert to Catholicism.
Whoop whoop Jesus! ❤
Catholic gentleman thank you and onward for God. Thank you for the scripture. Ave Maria
Praying for you and your husband!

Excellent discussion. You've distilled the essence of the problem and the extent of genuine concerns, and covered all the bases.
He didn't actually. He's not being honest, he's gaslighting the situation. He's cherry picking the facts
Well put!
You summarized exactly how I feel! We are being pushed and pulled from multiple extreme views.

Ralph Martin is such a rock in the crazy sea of “Catholic theologians.” Thank God for him .
altar rails and kneeling are huge i agree
this is my favorite show and I have shared it to three people
Thank you so so much for this.
I have been fascinated to watch Matt fearlessly & publicly change his views on his perceptions of Francis over the years. "good-on-yamate"
We say the Saint Michael prayer at the end of every Mass.
Same with our parish.♥️
Brilliant. Pope Leo XIII should be canonised.

You guys are awesome, keep up the good work!
I have heard preaching so many times about hell. Always in Opus Dei spiritual retreats: one meditation for hell, one for purgatory and one for heaven (at every single Opus Dei spiritual retreat I have attended). And I’m so grateful for those preachings.
You can’t buy a Eucharistic revival-WOW! Totally agree- there is a cost but it’s to the one who converts by changing
Some leaders in the church need to be led to a true encounter ❤
Much prayer and surrender needed. Lord have mercy on us all 🙏
Love your comment. Leaders (everyone for that matter)
need a true encounter.
@@justforrfunnn Thanks for that confirmation.
God bless you 🙏 ❤️
There is so much truth in your comment.
Did they send him back to Africa?

Michael Lofton from Reason and Theology may be able to help you.

They are the same as the scribes and Pharisees condemned by Our Lord in the Gospel. Never stop calling them out.

Ralph Martin's book, "The Fulfillment of All Desire: A Guidebook for the Journey to God Based on the Wisdom of the Saints" is fantastic!
Matt, I’m a patron to both PWA and Reason and Theology. It would be great if you had Michael Lofton on again.
Specifically speaking on this.
Yes. Dr. Martin made several statements that need to be walked back. Matt started the interview with a far better take than Dr. Martin provided. I hope he had the good sense to ignore the falsehoods.
Michael cannot ban people who disagree with him from other youtube channels. He's not God.
Ralph, you have been instrumental in my Faith for years and years … and I am asking God to greatly bless you in this life and in the next. I owe you so much. +++

AMEN!! Bring back the alter rails, have the priest FACE Jesus!!! This will speak VOLUMES, I believe!!
Matt, I just feel you are having a difficult time to not popeslain in your head. I think many of us have been there, but then it’s time to face the hard evidence.
What does "popeslain" mean?
Thanks guys! I love the long form!
Thanks for having this holy wise man on your program. Ralph Martin cares deeply about Holy Mother Church. Ambiguity is the whole purpose and foundational to what this pontificate is trying to do…create an entirely new ape of the church.
I love that Matt pushed back because it enabled Ralph Martin to be more specific.
He was more specifically erroneous in his responses though. 🤷🏻♀️
@@tm1830 Explain please
@@hopefulforhumanity5625 See my large comment in the main thread. Dr. Martin is leaving out information that literally refutes what he is saying. I’m not saying that he is intentionally doing this but there are many times where this happens in this conversation. I love Dr. Martin. I remember him from FIRE rallies in the 80’s, I think that these errors need to be pointed out though. Matt Fradd is actually more correct on some of the issues that were brought up than Dr. Martin. I’ve personally never seen him this sloppy in his research. It’s pretty disappointing.
Matt tends to do this as a good and clever technique to get more information from the guest.

Thomas Aquinas since he specifically warns against that:
"In these words (Matthew 7:1) our Lord forbids rash judgment which is about the inward intention, or other uncertain things, as Augustine states… Or again according to Chrysostom, He forbids the judgment which proceeds not from benevolence but from bitterness of heart. (Summa Theologiae II-II.60.2)"
@@benecliptus but, we are obligated to discern right vs wrong. When we listen to corporate leaders, politicians, and even parents and they appear to be saying one thing, and doing another, we must take a harder look at the person’s direction. Additionally, I could take exception to your judgment of me as if my concern is from bitterness of heart. The Lord said the road to perdition is wide and many will follow it. I just purchased the audio version of The Fulfillment of All Desire.
