The fries and soup at South Point Coronado Cafe are usually no good. Opt for the baked potato and salad instead. My experience with the onion rings with this are the same, they are usually old. Steak is either hit or miss but when you have a steak that thin it is hard for the whole thing to be medium rare. Usually no seasoning.
I always sit at that small bar area. Tip - you can skip the line at midnight for the graveyard specials. I asked the host and she said no need to wait, sit yourself at the bar. Do it every time now. Don't tell anyone.
Hi Danny please try Fat Choy in the eureka casino it’s close to downtown they have a breakfast streak for $6 on Thursdays thru Sunday they have a great hamburger for $14 when u include cheese and bacon
DTM: “I didn’t wash my hands after playing slots….I know.” Drops the cracker and smiles. That wrecked me for some reason! Thanks Danny, I needed that today.
Monday they have 1/2 price points in their restaurants if you are not getting a comp from a Host. That is the next best thing. Been staying there for 15 years, and the cafe has improved over the years. Their steakhouse is excellent. The oyster bar is fine. I agree with the thick soup. When I come into town I usually go for the special of the day once or twice. Priced about $11-$12 and so much food, comfort food.
Porter House for $19.95, thanks Jeff and Jane for the donation 👍 soup included. Tap water. Yes, looks like medium well FF and toast. Close to none does look better medium rare. Not bad score 8 to 8.5 overall. Keep the videos coming, DTM.
Cheers Danny! Coronado Cafe is a favourite, great backup plan. Also handy to have that recommendation for Jackson's Bar & Grill 🥩 A pleasure to sponsor the vid! 👍
I had both their Porterhouse steak and the Prime Rib from Coronado Cafe and I prefer the Prime Rib over the Porterhouse steak. I've been Jackson's Bar and Grille once for their rib eye steak and that was really good. I would so go back there again.
Good video, thanks! For those confused between tbone or porterhouse. Neither actual thickness nor length are the usda guidelines but the inches ( 1.25 for porterhouse) of the tenderloin from bone to outside edge at the top ( or widest point). They are usually thicker and longer but that doesn't make any difference to the rule. They are slso measured raw not cooked as with all steak measurements.
Yeah, I agree too Danny ...a 1/2 inch is not enough. That's what she said. That steak is way too thin. It would be good as a breakfast steak w/ eggs, but not as a dinner steak. Very poor example of a steak dinner. I have a suggestion, do yourself a favor and review "Pops" cheesesteaks and you can thank me later. Ohh, and when you go, don't forget to use your military discount 30% off. Pretty awesome
For a double-sawbuck, that looks like a helluva deal. The steak was better than decent, the other standard Coronado fare along with it is more than adequate. I just read an article that said that SP loses over $1m/month on the restaurant operations there - and they're happy to do it because they know it brings people in to gamble.
😅😅😅I am a fan of Jackson's rib eye for $20 I will try both the 1 pound porterhouse and the prime rib for $19.95 each. Great video of a great place. Love me some Southpoint
For $19.95 in 2024, that steak was a really nice size and it was a complete meal. I went to a burger place and paid more than that for a burger meal and I didn't even get thick soup!
Steak looks pretty good, but yes, that soup was awfully thick. I really want to go to Jackson's Bar n Grill for the rib eye. Saw they have fish and chips too. Maybe you can drive to the Codfather for their fish and chips?
Hi Danny. I'm at home with Covid watching your videos and noticed the guy next to you sure looked like I did with body aches. I'd advise you get checked right away just to be sure. Love your videos.
Danny... from what you videoed of your steak one of your commenters might be correct! @albertlee2220 said "That's a T-Bone, not a Porterhouse." The measurements are close but tittering in the side of a T-Bone. The technical: T-bone and Porterhouse steaks are both cut from the short loin of a cow and feature a T-shaped bone that separates a strip steak from a tenderloin. The main difference between the two is the size of the tenderloin portion: T-bone. The tenderloin is less than 1.24 inches long and the steak is cut from the narrower front part of the short loin. T-bones are often 16-24 ounces and can serve 1-2 people. Danny: you are correct that a Porterhouse should be 24 ounce (or more). This may have been misrepresented on the menu as a Porterhouse but really a T-Bone... restaurants have been caught before on these things... fudging amounts for the sake of not fair advertising. Just saying. Take care always.
Looks like you were sitting at a counter? Too bad you could not get a table as it was distracting with your counter buddies. Looks like a good steak dinner for $19.95. Looking forward to your comparison video at Jackson's.
19.99 for porterhouse..great price but steak definitely not Prime Cut. Fries were the frozen variety..fresh or not they were never going to be great. onion rings looked greasy...would I try it...Yes-i would get different sides than their fries/rings or anything 'fried'. Is this place open 24hrs?
Don't like the looks of the fries. I like mine well done and crispy. Those look like the bag fries that you throw in the oven and they just don't come out looking good.
Porterhouse for $19.99? That’s a deal you can’t pass up!

Danny, the rib-eye at Jackson's looks much better to me for the same price. Look how thick the rib-eye was.
I always sit at that small bar area. Tip - you can skip the line at midnight for the graveyard specials. I asked the host and she said no need to wait, sit yourself at the bar. Do it every time now. Don't tell anyone.
Danny the Medic, barley is a natural thickener for soups. Danny you are supposed to throw the excess salt over your shoulder for good luck!
that may be true, but ALL their soups I had were much thicker than any other place I had.

A bit thin, but looks quite tasty !
Maybe not the best steak in the world yet certainly a really great steak meal for the price!
Porterhouse at Southpoint looks good, I wish I lived closer. Skip the $47 Porterhouse at the Peppermill, steak/mushrooms were garbage for $47.
lol
I like salt as well
Don’t let the haters tell you it’s bad for you
At one point in history it was used as currency
Yeah truth
😊
The guy sitting to Danny’s left needs a chiropractor 😆
He needs something 😂
What area of Las Vegas do you live...do you ever go to the big place es on the strip?

Beef barley soup is suppose to be thick
may be, but this is very thick

Congrats on passing 30K DTM Huzzah🎉
Okay looking porterhouse for the price, a 1-inch-thick cut, the average cut at market prices are 1.5 inches. thx for sharing your experience video.

Always a great video honest review
😅😅😅I am a fan
of Jackson's rib eye for $20
I will try both the 1 pound porterhouse and the prime rib for $19.95 each. Great video of a great place. Love me some Southpoint
I get that steak every time I'm at South Point. The complete meal can't be beaten at that price point.
Hey Danny you don't use any A-1 or BBQ sauce on your steak?
no
For $19.95 in 2024, that steak was a really nice size and it was a complete meal. I went to a burger place and paid more than that for a burger meal and I didn't even get thick soup!

DTM… Steve says…”Eat your veggies” 😮
Great video for the majority of us low ball gamblers. You are doing a great service.
6:03 I bet you know the payouts for casino games
Can you give your mate on your left a bit of a back massage. He’s obviously in pain.
I prefer their steak and eggs special. I remember it was 2.95. Now it’s 5.95.
Hi Danny. I'm at home with Covid watching your videos and noticed the guy next to you sure looked like I did with body aches. I'd advise you get checked right away just to be sure. Love your videos.
Oh, I hope you feel better soon, I myself am not concerned over such matter, never was.
Looks great! I cannot come to Vegas at this time. I will sponsor, in the future. Great video DTM.
Coronado at the South Point is one of my favorite places to eat out there.
The water sucks at Smokeypoint....the beer is delicious though

"The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires that a porterhouse be at least 1.25 inches thick, while a T-bone is thinner than that"
Do you have a backup hat?
yes, several
Mom always said closer the bone sweeter the meat !😉
Way under priced. What's up with that? Cost me thirty for 4Lb chuck in store. The porterhouse is almost thirty a lb.
congrats on 30,000!!!!
Deĺious steak! I couln't sit that close to strangers & enjoy my meal !😮
Congrats on hitting 30k! 🎉❤
Hi Danny can you please try the Primarily prime rib upstairs…Promise i wont skip ads 👍
that is just a tbone steak.
Soup at 6.7, does it get more precise like 6.72?
Are you still going to put out a Vegas bus video?
when it is winter
Play with the right choice
Looks like you were sitting at a counter? Too bad you could not get a table as it was distracting with your counter buddies. Looks like a good steak dinner for $19.95. Looking forward to your comparison video at Jackson's.
the counter seats were available, the table seats were about an hour wait. after midnight, the place goes nuts!
Nice looking porterhouse steak.

24/7 i believe

Filet minion doesn’t have the flavor usually

You didn't wash your hands after playing slots. I think you were looking at me and the camera knowing that I was going to say something about that LOL

Not when leaving 3/4 any way
Barley soaks up a lot of juice.
I don't see any juice or blood on your plate. Over cooked
Too noisy and look how close the people sitting next to you are; quite crowded.
Meow 😻 meow 😻 Meal . Porterhouse Steak Rocks. 😅 Wish 🤞 I Could Eat As Good 👍 Outstanding Video. Thanks 😅❤😂
30k! Awesome!
Its medium rare! Not medium well!! Put your glasses on! Second thought: you need glasses!
🤙
It looked like a lot of meat for the price point
Don't like the looks of the fries. I like mine well done and crispy.
Those look like the bag fries that you throw in the oven and they just don't come out looking good.
when you dumped the salt on, watch carefully as a feather or hair falls into your food
I eat at Big Sur Oyster bar and get the pan roast and it is excellent. Just don't ad the lobster.
Add Raju to it are brown gravy
Salad 🚫
