  • Today I'm full of beans, because we're attempting a food challenge which has been on my bucket list for years now...
We're at Kendall's in Noble, Oklahoma having a crack at their infamous, twenty year old, 'Chicken Fry Challenge'!
This thing costs $50 and consists of three huge chicken fried steaks, a double serving of mashed potatoes, double serving of green beans, a biscuit, side salad and two of their renowned cinnamon rolls. Finish inside one hour and it's yours on the house, plus you get a choice of winner's garment (they have a selection of long/short sleeved tops with a bunch of different designs on them).

All have done evil, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23) The penalty for sin is hell (Revelation 21:8). Because of Gods love for us Jesus Christ came down from heaven to take the punishment for our sin on the cross in which he was spat on, beaten, mocked and laughed at
Christ died for the sins of the world and The third day God raised him from the dead (Praise God). This was done so that those who believe on Christ will not perish (hell) but have life everlasting (heaven); be justified by Gods grace through redemption in Christ (John 3:16) (Romans 3:24)
The blood Jesus shed on the cross washes away our sin, if we Believe in The Son of God and his finished work (ordained by God) on the cross. When this happens the believer receives the righteousness of Christ in place of their own unrighteousness (all sins are forgiven) and this makes them saved (going heaven) and they are born again as a Christian. (Romans 3:25-26).

This is definitely a contender for my favorite/last meal request. The "secret" to the green beans is they're slow-cooked with some type of smoked pork product such as ham hock, pork belly, or bacon. Also, that white gravy, when cooked with crumbled pork breakfast sausage, is what we put on biscuits for breakfast. I know you remember it from Cracker Barrel.

You notice the harder challenges are the ones that have a lot of meat. Our body has very specific satiation mechanisms for meat and animal fat. Basically, when you've had your fill, a door slams shut. Those mechanisms can be heavily obscured by carbs and sugar. He always asks for Root beer mid meal or after he finishes all the meat. Root beer is extremely sweet and has tons of sugar in it. He's using that insulin response to allow himself to be able eat more food.

    • @TheMacroSlacker
      @TheMacroSlacker ปีที่แล้ว +10

The sugar also allows the stomach to empty into the small intestine. It may not open to the meat, but some of that liquid could get out and carry some of the other liquified food out.

I don't think so bud, they're kind of soul destroying...I don't think anyone wants to simply watch me eat...what makes these videos entertaining for me is the story of it all you know...that's why i've pretty much done restaurant stuff this year and I think I'll keep at that for a while

Now that, my friend, is a real Oklahoma meal! By the way, the Oklahoma secret to green beans is a tablespoon of bacon grease. :)

Dayum!! Now that’s my kind of meal, but smaller portions. 😋❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Everything looked absolutely delicious!!
The green beans: sauté yellow onions in a little butter with lots of ground black pepper and a cut up smoked ham hock. Let simmer until fat is rendered and onions are translucent. If using tinned beans now add bean juice and same amount of water. If using fresh beans add water and/or beef stock and Maldon’s salt to taste. Simmer covered until desired tenderness. 😋😋😋

In America, that is called Country Gravy, but you are right, it is a peppery béchamel sauce.. We use it for breakfast mostly, and sometimes will make it with bacon or sausage. That one looked great though!

Hello Beard from the middle of Minnesota,
Your videos are simply terrific as has become your Arnold Schwarzenegger impression - really the best I have heard - seriously! I am a happily married, straight 73 year old male but I honestly have to say I would gladly watch your channel just for your absolute charm, sense of humor, beard and style. Our senses of humor seem to match each other seamlessly.
I became a complete and hopeless Anglophile in 1964 when those Four Lads from Liverpool along with all of their fabulous contemporaries invaded the US. You just seem to allow me to enjoy my nearly life long addiction well into my "end of days".
Not that I am anywhere near that time (?) but you are simply one of those increasingly rare fellow Earthlings that Mother Earth and all of Her varied inhabitants actually need in order to function properly.
All the very best to you and all those you hold dear (of course including the always charming (perfect foil for you) and wonderful Mrs. Beard),
    Terry
PS: You two have a fabulous upcoming New Year!!
