@@calldragon seemed pretty clear to me. He is talking about how this was almost a commercial for the restaurant and how much Beard enjoyed a proper chicken fried steak. Most of the ones I've seen him eat have been poorly made.
The green beans are cooked in bacon fat, the steak is tenderized within an inch of its life, and the gravy is made with sausage. This is a truly southern meal with all the love and artery clogging good stuff we love to cook with. Great challenge!
Nobody adds sausage to Chicken Fry in Oklahoma. You are hallucinating lol. It's a cream and black pepper style, no sausage. I will bet you dollars to donuts at a dozen you have that part wrong. ;P
@@D71219ONE only for breakfast gravy never for chicken fry gravy. You may catch the occasional person putting onions in the oil and frying them before they make the pepper cream gravy out of it, but that's pretty rare too.
Yea, you are stretching it calling anything Oklahoma "truly southern". I mean, you are sitting on Texas and fingering New Mexico. Yuk. Anything west of the Mississippi Is probably contaminated by the unmentionable state. 🤮
He was so complimentary of the the food. Anything that still tastes good, even after you’ve consumed 8lbs of it, has to be sincerely delicious! If I ever get out that way, I’m going to be sure to try that place.
This is the difference from the previous greedy restaurant owners who cheated and gave him a lot more food than what is normally offered in their food challenge. This restaurant takes pride in what they do and it shows quite obviously. 😁👍🥰❤️ And even the t-shirts are in stock in multiple sizes. Huge props!
@@capomontoyab2160 I believe it's a fairly recent English breakfast challenge? They basically gave him a whole loaf of bread on the side that was no way part of the challenge...
@@capomontoyab2160 It was a recently posted challenge within the past month, I think. The challenge was allegedly overloaded with TONS of side meals. @@johnnyxmusic I don't disagree. I often get young thin green beans and saute them in garlic butter, then splash a little water and cover to steam, and serve them al dente. @@trainmanification Well aren't you a pleasant one. Mass shootings only happen when the media needs to distract from something and/or they want to pass a law, by the way. Isn't it strange how coincidental that is?
He's the only professional eater/food challenger I watch. Because, as well as being really good at what he does, he's just...kind, and friendly, and modest, and funny. It baffles me that so many professional eaters think it has to be a grandstanding 'look at me!!' performance. Surely what people want to see is Adam - somebody who you can relate to, and who's just having a good laugh.
The gravy is a Midwest tradition. It was very common in the depression to fry up anything "like chicken" and serve it with a milk based gravy usually with lard or bacon grease, flour, and milk. Milk was usually available when meat wasn't.
@ellisd3165 let's not get ahead of ourselves 😂 I've had great ones and I've had some take my order and go out the back door and get high and never come back😂😂
@@Beardmeatsfood a televised rematch. It's nice to see one of the world's strongest men ever but to see a mortal being going against a food challenge god go at is unique, viral and pays homage to the viewers.
I used to live down the road from Kendalls. It by far is my favorite restaurant in the state of Oklahoma. I ate here all the time. The people are amazing, the chicken fry is incredible, and those cinnamon rolls, my goodness! Great job Beardy Boy!
That food looks amazing. If a restaurant takes enough pride to make multiple homemade salad dressings then it's almost certainly gonna be a banger. It's not easy to find restaurants like that
John: And if I were 40ish years younger I could eat massive amounts of fried greasy food and be healthy. As it is, at least I get a bit of vicarious pleasure watching Adam destroy such a challenge, and only cheat "a little bit" on my own eating.
Sorry if someone has already said this but the reason chicken fried steak is so tender is because it's been stabbed by needles about a thousand times and left to marinate in buttermilk before being breaded and deep-fried. Hands down one of my favorite food! Normally it's a breakfast item for me with over easy eggs :D
It's something I almost never eat out here in California. But the minute you get somewhere really cold (like Oklahoma) you just crave this kind of stick-to-your-ribs type food.
I'm a native Oklahoman living in Germany and I am about to head back to Oklahoma and the US for the first time in 2 years! I've been making my food list of things I miss eating and chicken fried steak is at the top of that list. So, this video just made me immensely more hungry and excited to get back home to it! Funnily enough, never heard of Kendall's, but now this may be my destination to get my chicken fried steak fix 😅
This is definitely a contender for my favorite/last meal request. The "secret" to the green beans is they're slow-cooked with some type of smoked pork product such as ham hock, pork belly, or bacon. Also, that white gravy, when cooked with crumbled pork breakfast sausage, is what we put on biscuits for breakfast. I know you remember it from Cracker Barrel.
@@dnmessedupaaron8916 Absolutely correct. Likely, no regular restaurant cooks beans the traditional way. Some home cooks do though (including my wife).
I’ve only found your channel a month or so ago but I’ve watched a lot of them and enjoyed them very much. I also appreciate your courteous you are to the restaurant staff. Cheers!
It's been a good decade or so since I've gotten to have a good American style gravy (I'm also a Brit btw)... but I remember being weirded out at first that it was white when I first had it, but absolutely LOVING it! I really need to go back to Texas again.
Beard singing Oklahoma the musical to start off this video made my theatre loving heart so happy! This challenge looked incredible! That chicken fried steak, woooah!
You always have the best vibes. As an Oklahoman born and raised, that performance at the beginning was stellar. Much love and respect to you, my friend from across the pond.
Sitting here broke wishing I had this much food. It honestly makes me feel better when I'm smashing rice to fill my belly to see you eating more interesting things. I know that sounds weird but thanks for what you do.
That intro is gonna be hard to beat beard! You’ve raised your bar, and your loyal viewers will expect that level of production and editing in ever single video from this day forward 😂
you may have been out west but that was DEFINITLEY southern cooking ! it was nice they included dessert so you didn't have to ask for it but honestly i do like the reactions you get WHEN you ask for a dessert menu . priceless the looks on their faces .
You notice the harder challenges are the ones that have a lot of meat. Our body has very specific satiation mechanisms for meat and animal fat. Basically, when you've had your fill, a door slams shut. Those mechanisms can be heavily obscured by carbs and sugar. He always asks for Root beer mid meal or after he finishes all the meat. Root beer is extremely sweet and has tons of sugar in it. He's using that insulin response to allow himself to be able eat more food.
The sugar also allows the stomach to empty into the small intestine. It may not open to the meat, but some of that liquid could get out and carry some of the other liquified food out.
Did the same when going to an "All chicken wings you can eat" - buffet. Cleaned house until I couldn't eat more, drank a bit of Coke Zero, burped like a bellowing alligator and magically could eat another plate.
My older brother and I did this challenge about 10 years ago as a pair. Took us about an hour. Still have the cup LOL. You genuinely looked so happy to be changing up the food...No joke EVERYTHING looked delicious even the salad.
@@Beardmeatsfood Yeah it was a valiant effort from two teenagers. I reckon if I went back I could probably do at least 2/3 of it. The cinnamon buns are my kryptonite...can't do sweets.
Dayum!! Now that’s my kind of meal, but smaller portions. 😋❤️🔥❤️🔥 Everything looked absolutely delicious!! The green beans: sauté yellow onions in a little butter with lots of ground black pepper and a cut up smoked ham hock. Let simmer until fat is rendered and onions are translucent. If using tinned beans now add bean juice and same amount of water. If using fresh beans add water and/or beef stock and Maldon’s salt to taste. Simmer covered until desired tenderness. 😋😋😋
My entire family is from Oklahoma, except me. I am born and raised in Texas and my favorite meal by far is a good chicken fried steak and cream gravy. I have watched you for a couple years now and I am proud your favorite challenge is my favorite meal. Good for you, Adam. For the record, my two favorite meals when I was stationed in the UK were gamon and eggs and a decent bangers and mash.
I have binged dozens of your videos and this is quite honestly the only one that made me legit hungry and slightly jealous of that meal. I'm off to find a chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes!
You are truly a treat to watch! I just started watching your videos a couple weeks ago. Now my boys and I have been trying to catch up on them all! You live life with such a positive personality. It's very refreshing, keep on eating! Cheers!
As an Oklahoman that lives in Dallas, EVERY time I cross the Red River to enter back into Oklahoma, I sing "Oklahoma." When my wife is in the car she tells me to shut up, but I continue, anyway. As an Oklahoman, I am also beaming with pride that your favorite-ever challenge is in Oklahoma! Also, it's not surprising that you found the waiter to be a good guy. A lot of friendly people in Oklahoma! Looking forward to seeing where you go next. I had never heard of Kendall's in Noble, OK (not my part of Oklahoma). May have to check it out soon!
I come back to this one every time Im having a bad day, There’s just such a feel good vibe to this one, the food makes you hungry no matter how full you are and the atmosphere is just so pleasant
Right on man. I’m from Texas, been eating chicken fried steak my whole life. I’ve never thought of the cream gravy as really being a peppery bechamel. I’m going to use that line the next time I order one. It’s nice to have a British bloke giving us a different angle to see things. Also, “did that announcer say aggressiveness….you mean aggression.” Even classying-up (not a word) college football! You Brits are alright!
Just as an aside to British people: we have brown gravy here too. The white gravy is a southern delicacy, and if you are ever in the southern US and have a chance to try biscuits and gravy, you don't want to pass it up. There will usually be crumbled sausage in it, and it's made with bacon grease and is so savory and delicious. You can get it in the north as well, but it's never quite as good.
When we were making bechamel in culinary school I put too much pepper in mine and chef goes "well good job, you just made country gravy." So when he said that I died laughing lol.
That was honestly my favorite challenge even just to watch. Seeing and hearing how excited and happy you were really brightened my night! Thanks for always being awesome and for making amazing content for us!!! ♥♥♥
What's up Beard! as an Oklahoman born and raised I liked watching you enjoy our food so much! I've grown up with chicken fried steak eaten a few times a month and it rocks!
So awesome when you honestly love the food. You enjoy most i would say but some like this. Is awesome to not only see you devour it, but enjoyment of food adds so much to us viewers, or at least me. Just going to keep hoing back to the begining. So amamzing. Good job as well this week on the giant canadian soup!! Great work as always
In America, that is called Country Gravy, but you are right, it is a peppery béchamel sauce.. We use it for breakfast mostly, and sometimes will make it with bacon or sausage. That one looked great though!
It's also usually cubed steak, isn't it? (For those that don't know, cubed steak means the steak has been perforated by a bunch of little holes to break up the meat fibers somewhat and make it more tender.)
@@zolo49noname45 Yup. It's not the cut of steak that you would grill up and enjoy medium rare/medium though but for this type of recipe it's amazing for.
I love how he eats like 5+ pounds of food and then decides he’s gonna have one of the complimentary cinnamon rolls just cause. My lord I felt like I was gonna explode just watching that. Southern comfort food is so filling even in a portion 20% that size
I had a feeling when he said that he was coming to Oklahoma, that Kendall's would be on the list. Btw, I still watch all of your videos even though I quit MCOC when they announced 7*s. Good luck in bedlam next week!

The people in Oklahoma have been exceptionally nice in all of your videos from there. What a great look at that state, thanks for posting!
Don't tell anyone but it is one of the nicest places in America!
That's where I'm from. It really can be a good place.
@@boofert.washington2499everything Ive heard about Oklahoma's climate makes me realise that's why Brits like it haha
The gravy is a Midwest tradition. It was very common in the depression to fry up anything "like chicken" and serve it with a milk based gravy usually with lard or bacon grease, flour, and milk. Milk was usually available when meat wasn't.
This is by far the best food eating channel.
Appreciate you brother.
Keep it simple and humble.
Being served extra gravy without having to ask for it = respect
Servers know their shit a lot more than they get credit for
I think he maybe did ask for it, although that moment didn't make it to the final cut. If you listen from 7:25 you'll see what I mean.
@@this_is_a_tiny_town yep i see

I’m an Oklahomie! I tried this and failed miserably, I’m so glad you enjoyed our food!
time for a rematch mate ;)
@@Beardmeatsfood a televised rematch. It's nice to see one of the world's strongest men ever but to see a mortal being going against a food challenge god go at is unique, viral and pays homage to the viewers.
Mmmmmm chlorinated chicken 🤤🤤
It looked amazing food!
What town is this in? It looks amazing. Chicken fried steak is my favourite meal.
It's not easy to find restaurants like that
It is because it has a full contrast, crispy, fried, juicy, creamy, peppery, crunchy, then salad to pull you out, and dessert, perfect.
Yeesss I love it for breakfast with eggs. Soooo good
Never heard of this, making it tonight, thanks for the info! Drooling already lol
@@fodz9246 let us know how long it took you to poke the steaks 1000 times
And that it is called chicken fried because it is breaded and fried in the same manner as frued chicken.
It's something I almost never eat out here in California. But the minute you get somewhere really cold (like Oklahoma) you just crave this kind of stick-to-your-ribs type food.
Now that, my friend, is a real Oklahoma meal! By the way, the Oklahoma secret to green beans is a tablespoon of bacon grease. :)
Growing up my dad always said, "You could fry a sock in bacon grease and it would taste good."
I suspected bacon had to be involved when Beard said the green beans were good.
I have family out in Oklahoma, so now I want to see if they’ve been, and if not, when I go visit, take everyone there
I am being sarcastic being an Okie myself... but you have no idea what you are talking about. It is called CHICKEN FRY according to comments made.
"Funnily"...damn Passport Two, I think you just coined a word...LOL
CFS is an Americanized version of Schnitzel, so you could get pretty close in Germany.
Germany is king of breaded meats and fried
This one, I think, is my favorite food video you've done Adam. Just something so enjoyable about seeing you truly enjoy a meal as meal
I know you remember it from Cracker Barrel.
pig juice is the key....got it hahaha
I know the answer itis 42
@@dnmessedupaaron8916 Absolutely correct. Likely, no regular restaurant cooks beans the traditional way. Some home cooks do though (including my wife).
@@Beardmeatsfood That sounded more than a little bit gay 😂
@@dnmessedupaaron8916 u can still cook canned green beans that way. Won’t be as good but still good

That last extra cinnamon roll was the icing on the cake! 😀
First time in a while my mouth was watering from watching a challenge. Now I need to get some chicken fried steak.😋
It's pretty easy to make, but can be messy. Just make sure to get a good tenderized steak, or do it yourself. Also, season your batter!
I was asking for hot sauce out loud!!!
Same here
You and me both.
Looks nasty and those green beans look old and musty as fk
I'm always so stoked when Beard loves the food!
What timing as soon as he countdowns the whistle from the tv/game make its official.
Your awesome Beard
I’ve only found your channel a month or so ago but I’ve watched a lot of them and enjoyed them very much. I also appreciate your courteous you are to the restaurant staff. Cheers!
It's been a good decade or so since I've gotten to have a good American style gravy (I'm also a Brit btw)... but I remember being weirded out at first that it was white when I first had it, but absolutely LOVING it!
I really need to go back to Texas again.
Beard singing Oklahoma the musical to start off this video made my theatre loving heart so happy! This challenge looked incredible! That chicken fried steak, woooah!

you may have been out west but that was DEFINITLEY southern cooking !
it was nice they included dessert so you didn't have to ask for it but honestly i do like the reactions you get WHEN you ask for a dessert menu . priceless the looks on their faces .
What I like about your channel , is that there is no adverts mid challenge
I always wondered why he asked for sweet fizzy drinks, Those always fill me up and make the meal heavier to me.
Did the same when going to an "All chicken wings you can eat" - buffet. Cleaned house until I couldn't eat more, drank a bit of Coke Zero, burped like a bellowing alligator and magically could eat another plate.
i bet these guys have the most epic bowel movements.
@@an3582 Supposedly, carbonation aids digestion, but it is mostly for the sweet taste and insulin spike.
My older brother and I did this challenge about 10 years ago as a pair. Took us about an hour. Still have the cup LOL.
You genuinely looked so happy to be changing up the food...No joke EVERYTHING looked delicious even the salad.
you got the cup? that means you lost no? shameful...

Hull in England?
It’s so amazing to watch how he gobble and finished that amount of food everytime
Your favorite meal wasn't the national dish of the UK, tikka masala? 😂
Cheers!
Not sure why Adam but " it's yummy" gets me everytime. Well done on the challenge btw.

There's a simple joy that comes from knowing you're about to really annoy your wife hahaha

I come back to this one every time Im having a bad day, There’s just such a feel good vibe to this one, the food makes you hungry no matter how full you are and the atmosphere is just so pleasant
This place is one of my favorites and right down the road. Great food and great service! Well done Beard!!
Gotta lie to the british to get them to try it. Fluffy buttery scones topped in a peppery bechamel sauce instead of biscuits and gravy
Yeah we love Texas in the UK all the same..
I've travelled in the States a bit. Now I'm back in Wales, I had to make biscuits and gravy at home as I've experienced Southern Food Withdrawal.
That was honestly my favorite challenge even just to watch. Seeing and hearing how excited and happy you were really brightened my night! Thanks for always being awesome and for making amazing content for us!!! ♥♥♥
Thanks for watching mate ❤
A peppery beschamel is actually a really good description for people that haven't had it. I have never thought of describing it like that
you can also tell people that it's made with a bacon and flour roux
sheesh, that sounds kinda aweful... I hoped it would be more of a sauce tartare or sour cream flavour/base

Just going to keep hoing back to the begining. So amamzing. Good job as well this week on the giant canadian soup!! Great work as always
I’ve never seen you so effusive with your praise. Usually the British understated “it’s not bad” food looked awesome, as are all your videos!
In America, that is called Country Gravy, but you are right, it is a peppery béchamel sauce.. We use it for breakfast mostly, and sometimes will make it with bacon or sausage. That one looked great though!
You always pound out the steak before battering and frying, that is why its tender and easy to eat! :)
It's also usually cubed steak, isn't it? (For those that don't know, cubed steak means the steak has been perforated by a bunch of little holes to break up the meat fibers somewhat and make it more tender.)
@@zolo49noname45 you are correct, another example of a cheap cut being turned into something beautiful and delicious 😋
@@zolo49noname45 Yup. It's not the cut of steak that you would grill up and enjoy medium rare/medium though but for this type of recipe it's amazing for.
