A note from Andy:
“The “Eat an Eraser” video is a result of a creative collaboration between brothers Peter, and Andy Yanowitz. An exploration into the use of new 3D digital performance capture technology. It started with a set of digital performance captures of band members Michael, Peter and Matt, created by Rob Ruffler and The Lightframe Co. Using Blender 3D, an open-source 3D graphics software toolset, Andy was able to place Michael and the band into an unlimited number of virtual performance spaces, and “shoot” video with virtual camera movements that would be nearly impossible using traditional video production techniques. Andy spent months experimenting with many different concepts and looks, and eventually worked with his brother Peter to craft a video that best fit the mood of the song, and the band’s creative vision. The head on fire concept was originally Michael’s idea, and the concept of the ball head with spewing particles felt very fitting in this time of social distancing, and personal space. And as for the butterflies, well, of course the video had to have butterflies, and Michael’s compelling performance seemed to fit nicely with that.”

I love when he sings in a low register. With that vibrato he sounds like a cross of David Bowie and Lou Reed....just epic!

Fantastic vocals, entertaining visuals - as Michael himself says about channeling David Bowie, "we have the same timbre," not an imitation, but from the heart . .. Michael has TALENT and had it long before collaborating with Bowie on Lazarus on the Black Star album and musical... watch his work in other Broadway musicals, Cabaret, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.... he's brilliant - gives a whole new perspective on Dexter!

this is perfect timing too, i wouldn't be surprised if this starts a retro trend. And a new or hybrid genre of music. I feel like Michael C. Hall is really in sync with himself, he has the ability of vast variety of characters, and voices in both music and screen. I just feell like he fits into whatever he does. From sixfeet under (not a fan, but he did his part good) to dexter shows completely different roles. and then this album compared to his other music and performances on broadway etc.. shows another great variety and his ability to make himself "fit" into all of these roles is in my opinon very impressive. He is certainly a hard-working talented and dedicated individual.
You might want to check out avant garde as a music genre, Michael C Hall didn't create it but I will say his music is definitely talented.

Indeed it is sad that there's no marketing muscle behind any of this and only the people who really enjoy it will find it and buy it. On the other hand maybe it's better that way.

When I look up bands by actors I never expect it to be all that great. But this is excellent!!
what is the most striking and cool is that despite being a well known star, music is an equalizer for the weight of Michael's presence in this medium. he very much stands on his own and meshes well with his band mates, who are pro musicians. very cool to see and hear the raw art they are creating and sharing! keep it up guys. i hope to see you live someday!
