Beat making on the MPC Live II - Using vinyl records from a local thrift shop! Such a great time, such a rewarding process :D
I had to chop this sample into smaller pieces and use a bit of delay on some parts to make it work in my track and I'm really happy with the end result. A sample, some drums, a deep sub bass and a little filler melody did the trick! The new instruments in the MPC Live 2 made all the difference here!
Hopefully this inspires you to make music this week. I'm spending too much time consuming short form video content and this process made me snap out of that and actually create something. The Live 2 needed some love and I think it got what it deserved in this session.

I really like the way you work. I am new to this. Right now I’m getting my samples from Native Instruments Expansion kits. They’re great, but your way of doing things is so much more organic and interesting. Maybe one day I’ll ill get a cheap turntable and go explore vinyls at local shops… looks like so much more fun.

My biggest regret so far in my 14 year music experience is a couple years ago when I traded a sample pad and the strange one piece acoustic to digital kit ALL TO GET $200 off of a $650 guitar when I’m not actually getting into beat making and have 1,000+ vinyls that could’ve given me some amazing live drumming samples. But… now I have to sell the guitar for half price and spend $400 more on a sample pad…
Definitely hate my friend for pushing me to make that deal x.x great video though! When my laptop is in I will be transferring tons of strange vinyls from the 70s-90’s

Have you considered doing tutorial videos? I love seeing your process and you're one of my favorite mpc producers. With today's video I think we more get to see you think, but don't get to see how you work, if that makes sense.
If not, maybe consider taking paid calls over zoom to help people one on one. ( Producer DDS does this, or at least he did). Just an idea. All the best brother.
Yes, I’ve thought about it a lot and I will get into making more tutorial type content some day.
I’ve done some one-on-one sessions before and even though I love giving back like that, it takes a lot of time and doesn’t really make sense financially in the long run.
Tutorials are happening somehow though :)
@@AccurateBeats I hear you brother. Gotta weigh the value with the effort. Maybe think about something that makes some passive income for you. I know you do spots for skillshare, but if you were to put up your own beatmaking course on Teachable or Kajabi (more control, better split your way) you could put the effort in once, then let it do its thing.
How about a no-commitment check with your community? Make a poll in your community tab and ask who would be interested in buying a course from you. Then ask what they want you to cover.

My favorite vinyl I’ve bought for samples under $10 is a VERY STRANGE record from the 70’s with synthesizers playing while a couple makes love in the background. Super weird find. It’s called “Seriously SINthesized”. Top 3 of my weirdest vinyls. Wish it was cheap enough to record vinyl now vs being them. One is a test press from Canada of guitars humming while the band members use a Ouija board and chant. Got it for $2 on eBay along with a glow in the dark mudvayne vinyl for $3(randomly) that I sold for $75 x.x

Acc..great tune bro, grooving. I really like your video editing skills, trying to get into it more myself. Did you just "trial and error" your learning, or did you follow a video editing tutorial? I'm assuming your using Final Cut Pro? Also, you have several different angles..do you have that many cameras?? Or are you using editing tricks?

My video editing process has just developed over time, I guess. The software has a lot in common with a DAW so some of my skills just transferred over. Trial and error, a lot of patience and a lot of hours just made me learn what I need to know to make these videos :)
Yeah, Final Cut is my editing software of choice.
In terms of angles; I use two cameras for everything and I move them around a lot to get different angles of things, just to keep it fun.

Just a question i dont find answer around the net: akai mpc one i own, if connected to a pair of monitor (jbl 104bt) sounds lower volume comparing to the volume came out from headphone…and if i increase master volume by the knob to listen at the right volume from audio monitor, headphone became unusable…there is a solution? Thanks

@accurate beats. Is a MAC the best for music? I got a Maschine + and can't get no sound out of it because my PC doesn't match the system requirements.
Im new to this and just ordered this mpc. Can I record samples into the MPC live 2 by connecting a digital voice recorder to it and recording from it into the live 2 using just an aux cable?
Yeah man! You’ll need a converter or another cable though. There’s no mini aux input on the MPC but use a aux- stereo line cable and that’ll work wondery!
