Having listened to Dev since Synchestra, I never heard Ocean Machine until this year. Now, hearing this intro already makes me tear up despite not having any nostalgia for it. Powerful stuff.
Running away, running away Running away forever It was her only chance of finding home Running away, running away Running away together... With only thoughts of finding home I'll wait for the ocean to rise up And meet me as it rose up before (I'll know the time) I'll wait for the ocean to rise up And greet me as it rose up before (I'll know the year) Because you're never alone ...Even when you're alone You're never alone... Watch the seventh wave Running away, running away Running into the weather With only thoughts of finding home Running away, running away Running away forever I realize I'm on my own On my way pass it on On my way pass it on I'll wait for the ocean to rise up And meet me as it rose up before (I'll know the time) I'll wait for the ocean to rise up And greet me as it rose up before We're never alone Even when you're alone We're never alone... watch the ocean
Aw man. Awesome to hear some Ocean Machine songs. This is my first time watching this concert. I did not spoil it for myself by looking up the track listing.
Great track! I've always loved this tune, I love how much goes into the production/mix of there live shows! hats off to you Dev for being an audio file monster! you put in the work and effort and we get to enjoy the wicked quality, thank you good sir 👊
@Nukem Dukem Apperantly after he left SYL, he consulted a voice therapist of sorts who told him that his singing would destroy his voice if he kept doing it. It seems he's just some sort of anomaly in the sense that his voice doesn't wear out at all. It's all the more impressive that he's never had ANY sort of vocal training. He claims that every thing that he does vocally is done through "sheer force of will." Unbelievable.
@@jordankowalski4628 when he did the steve vai album in '93 he was sent to a vocal coach named Roger Love who told him that. Hes never seen a vocal coach since that one visit. He just naturally has good vocal habits.
one of my all time favorites. ocean machine, wow, that was such a powerful album. sucks that his crowds don't really get into it though. saw him live in philly a few years back and it was like the crowd was just watching someone at a coffee shop. i couldn't believe it. guess we need gene hoglan to mix it up =)
It's my favorite Dev album. My wife sat down with me the other night and listened to the whole thing and all she could say was "That was amazing " The Death Of Music kinda fucked her up a little.
I've just discovered him & the material from this album is what's really grabbed & held onto me. I've read some about & listened to him and was so impressed I wanted to find more like that album to love. I'm still trying. I thought most people felt the same way but being a newb maybe I've misunderstood.
I'm only knowing a few albums of him. But for me it's no question that Ocean Machine is just an absolute masterpiece. Somehow very satisfying to hear this gigantic wall of sound, the Industrial Metal guitars and his voice. "Terria" is also a masterpiece and I'm pretty sure some of his other albums are as well. But Ocean Machine is something special.
Nah, they finished this year afaik. Devin said he may get them back together at some point though. And he's coming out with new solo stuff too (an album called Empath)
At what song did they take the Orchestra off? Just noticed they aren't playing in this song and on the album its a bit later in the show way after Deadhead
If I recall correctly, the orchestra was only on during the first half of the set, which was a by-request thing. During the break, they re-arranged the whole stage and the second half of the set was just Ocean Machine, of which this is the first song, and the orchestra was not there anymore.
This is John 'Squid' Harder, the original bass player on Ocean Machine. He also played on Dev's Punky Brüster album. He’s in a chair because he’s got advanced MS. Beav was sitting on the left side, watching the show.

Followed Devy from the very beginning. Truly one of a kind. He is unmatched. Period.
Man, this band is tight. Perfect timing, music, pitching almost thoughout.
Better live IMO. And that. Is no mean feat.

Because you're never alone
...Even when you're alone
You're never alone...
Watch the seventh wave
Running away, running away
Running into the weather
With only thoughts of finding home
Running away, running away
Running away forever
I realize I'm on my own
On my way pass it on
On my way pass it on
I'll wait for the ocean to rise up
And meet me as it rose up before

Love this song. It gets better every time you hear it.

Is this recent? If so, I literally cannot believe how good Devy sounds! His voice just seems to defy aging! °○°
its for like 5/6 month ago top

he's vegetarian now... care about voice
Devin is just incredible
the mix on this is incredible,RVP's drums sound so fuckin choice!
I'd have liked a little more in the overheads, not much, a couple of DBs, but the rest was bang on. :)
@@gavinbuck8130 he doesnt get enough credit for all the depth he adds to the sound, IMHO, but all of them are perfection
What I would give for this whole album live in a single go. This may be my favorite album, if not it's definitely WAY up there.
Lee rV. That’s what the Live at Plovdiv album is. He did the entirety of the album live
@@ghostbeliever9842 I started catching on a little after I made that comment. That is awesome!
I hope you were able to catch the Ocean Machine livestream! ❤️
FUCKIN EPIC MAN !!! i love it
he is soooooo good that this sounded exactly like, the album one.
I like the song I listened to on Earth the most since I heard this song for the first time to this day.
One of my very favorite songs!! Love it! Seventh Wave...soooo good.
thanks. going to see dev at Oriental Theatre in Denver. this music has been with me for 20 years.
We will be there too!
Amazing! Not a single dislike and this has been up for almost a year.

This si wonderful ❤️
That one fella in the crowd at the start knows what the fuck's up!
great drums
I’ve only recently got into this incredible artist, but I can’t believe how infrequently he plays this song live! Is there a reason for this?
It's an older song, and he's got a larger catalogue to play from nowadays.
(i love you)
even when you're alone.
you're never alone.
As good as the original.
Even sounds better, much better :o

QuesoCFH maybe they were just mesmerized by the performance perhaps? I hope
Probably to busy recording there memories to a phone instead of living the moment.

KILLER....!!!!!!
Is the D.T.P. still together? I saw them in Dec. 2017 open up for Clutch. Awesome live! Great sound.

Yep Empath is great.. Different but Dev.
Muito foda essa música.
Corona comes with a second wave? Devin: Pah, hold my seventh wave.
This comment didn't age well (and I expect mine won't either), since we are almost facing the fourth wave...
@@andrecarvalho2833We're prob on 7th wave of this B.S. nowadays
This is the original ocean machine bass player. Why is he sitting down?
he has MS

The only way this could be any cooler is if DT toured with a couple of monks.
😎
Any one know who the drummer is???
The google does.
