Grand world Phu Quoc is owned by the Vingroup the largest company in Vietnam.
They seem to have boatloads of money to piss away on massive theme parks and EV cars .
These types of parks appeal to locals but they would normally go when there are holidays and during TET .
Not sure how sustainable these places will be without a constant flow of tourists from all over .
Sun World on the south is fun for one day to go on the cable car but it is over built and empty as well .
Phu Quoc is really just for finding a nice luxury resort on the beach that you can chill for a few days and then leave .
There really isn’t much else to do the town is a dump and I wouldn’t recommend going on any speed boat tours there as they can be dangerous.
Those dogs are actually only found on the island they are called Phu Quoc dogs and have that ridge of fur on their backs .
They are really nice dogs very docile and good natured

We go to Vietnam at least once every year and we came to Phu Quoc in 2023 on our only visit there. We stayed at the Crown Plaza near Grand World and loved the beach and pool at the hotel. Grand World felt like a ghost town and we found the restaurants and services there to be very expensive compared to the rest of Vietnam. Glad you kept a positive and happy attitude with the unfortunate things that happened!!!

Hi guys, shame that your plan didn't go as planned. But please keep in mind next time, do your homework before setting off. This time of the year is normally stormy & just towards the end of the rain season, so it's hit & miss. I agree Ong Lang beach is probably the best option for this time of the year but the hotels that have direct access to the beach might be more expensive. I would pay extra to have a bit of that luxury. I also agree that Phu Quoc is over built. The area you visited and the Sunset town in the south called Mediterranean are mainly for the local tourists who can't afford to go abroad. I would avoid those areas. I would suggest hiring a local tour guide taking you to the local authentic spots like national park or fishing villages. I'm going to Phu Quoc in December. Fingers crossed the weather will improve

Phu Quoc is one of those vacation destination, like Vung Tau beach town near Saigon where it's crowded during certain seasons and holidays and completely off when it's over, you get the whole city to yourselves, especially around noon.........When there's storms everything cut off, sea and air.....most Vietnamese from the southern tip come to Phu Quoc by sea, without them Phu Quoc is quiet enough, let alone airplanes....you guys really picked the wrong time, but if you're not in a rush this is one of those trip for contemplation. When you look back 10yrs from now all other trips are like mirages, and this is the most memorable one. Have a save trip.

I have not been to Phu Quoc, but have watched plenty of videos about overbuilt and underutilized resorts all around the island. The Grand World and the Sunset Town, the latter intended to be a copy of the Amalfi towns, are the typical areas meant for tourists. They look deserted this time of year, and I wonder how lively the areas are in the summer season. However, there are many more smaller subdivisions meant to be 2nd homes for the natives from mainland. They are left to run down, in fact many are abandoned, due to lack of buyers. Developers and real-estate investors in Vietnam are repeating the same mistakes made by their Chinese counterparts.
PS. Seems to me a bit south of where you stay is the Night Market. Some recent videos show more tourists and activities even at this time of off-season.
