Interesting fact about El Asseradero, the log ride: When Walt Disney got wind of it, he made a special trip to Texas to try it out. He was impressed, which is why the Disney parks now have Splash Mountain.
Walt was impressed but that wasn't the reason we got Splash Mountain. Walt wanted a logflume for Disney World and Arrow made Walt Pirates and Small World. It was going to be a western boat ride and Minetrain in Disney world instead of Pirates. But everyone was so confused why Pirates wasn't in Disney World. So they scrapped the minetrain and Flume ride and put in a pirates. Thats why DW Pirates is so short.
Judge Roy Scream is in reference to
Judge Roy Bean - a tough hanging judge from the 1800s.
i might be going in 2 weeks so its really great to get this kind of information of whats in the park and really appreciate it In the Loop!
Some Fun Facts:
1) Six Flags Over Texas is still owned by the family that originally opened it; however, it is operated by the company they sold the Six Flags Name to.
2) The abandoned gas station was in operation up till recently, and also highly over priced.

Six Flags has not been owned by the original owners for a very long time. Six Flags and the Great Southwest Corporation (original managing company) was sold to a limited partnership in 1969.
We were in line for judge Roy scream, when a group of teenagers ran through the grass and jumped in line; it took like 10 minutes but security came and kicked them out of line and everyone cheered.
The theming of the park is based on the six flags that flew over Texas. (Texas, Spain, France, Mexico, US, Confederacy) All were separate countries. The name six flags kind of lost its original meaning when they started to expand out of Texas. The park is 55 years old which makes it just 5 years younger than Disneyland. Also the Yosemite Same Dark Ride use to be Spelunkers cave which had original characters and themes.
I died at the gun swings! I am a Texan and that observation is far too accurate. Thank you for making this video. It's nice to see what others see in your local hot spots.

This brings back a lot of memories. SFOT was one of my "home" parks when I lived in Texas, and still one of my all-time favorite parks. It's one of the only two things I miss about Texas (the other being SF Fiesta Texas).
Texas Giant trains are Cadillacs, not Corvettes. FYI. Specifically, 1961 Cadillac.
And yes, Matterhorn is the first tubular steel coaster. There used to be a longer spiel for the Runaway Mine Train that more specifically described it's place on the list of Firsts, but it's been shortened over the years to the point of being wrong now.
The mine train is the first tubular steel roller coaster of it's kind.... The Matterhorn is a bobsled type coaster... the Mine train has a complete train of cars.. that's the "first" thing here.
I would second your opinion on Freeze's efficient loading system. What an awesome piece of engineering that system is! So much so that Premier Rides got an IAAPA innovator award for it!
So basically come on a weekday to avoid long lines and crowds?
The Sunday wasn't bad at all, the Saturday was death crowds
In the Loop Well it is Texas... Sunday is holy day. Probably lots of people in church instead.

Great tour! I've never been to Six Flags Over Texas, so it was nice getting to know what kinds of rides the park has, the layout etc.
Nice video. I live in the Dallas area, so I've been to Six Flags numerous times. Best time to go is in mid to late May when all the kids are still in school. By 1 or 2 in the afternoon the park is virtually deserted and you can ride the rides without waiting.
Also at 19:27 at the Roaring Rapids ride, someone actually died on that ride back in 98 or 99 when the tube flipped over and the person couldn't get the safety belt to come undone.
Sorry to hear about the crowds during your visit! I'm there every weekend and have never seen it as crowded as it was! Hopefully you'll be able to come back soon for a more normal weekend! During the summer lines on weekends never exceed an hour and weekdays are typically walk on's!
Sunday was a very pleasant day when I was there.
As someone there all the time, what's your best advice for people visiting the park?
I would say start off your day in Gotham City/Goodtimes Square, especially once the new rides open! Batman is the only major coaster that opens on time every day plus it has the slowest operations of any of them, so I would start there. From there I'd go to Riddler and Catwoman (Once they open) then Skyscreamer, Mr. Freeze, and then New Texas Giant! Doing that can get you 3 of the 4 major coasters plus Skyscreamer done in the first hour or so! And during the summer, Tuesday's are the best for crowds! Even New Texas Giant and Superman are walk ons, often re-rideable as well! Typically weekdays aren't bad at all. Monday will most likely be all 10-30 minute waits! Tuesday's and Wednesday's are typically empty and the only line they ever have is for Riddler Revenge! I would start of the day with Riddler as that's usually the ride with the longest wait. But yeah, it shouldn't be too busy at all!
I remember when I was a kid they had the Sarajevo Bob sled at Magic Mountain. It was opened to be themed for the winter Olympics that same year.
Funny you say there are no forces on the Giovanola hypers when the reason why they do that hard stop on the midcourse is because of the forces in the helix. They started doing that because of the aneurysm death and complaints of grey outs in the helix of Goliath. On a hot day, you can still grey out in the helix.
I live 17 mins from SFOT (to get there I'd have to go left, go right, then go straight).
I'm excited I'm going this weekend I've been to the one in San Antonio tho about 4-5 years ago so I'm excited to experience something new

Good walkthrough. Sundays are generally very good days to come to SFOT. The parking lot was actually more full than it is most Sundays.

Very late on this but you were there the same day I was. I also went to mania and stopped by SFOT.
About the gas station...
Angus Wynn was an oil guy and there wasnt much around the park when built so hence the gas station. SFOG also had one in it's parking lot.
Even though acquired and not built by SF, Magic Mountain also had a gas station. The structure is still there as well.
+haiderodes Respectfully, Angus Wynne was a real estate developer, not an oil guy. The gas station in the parking lot did not exist until sometime in the 1980s, well after his passing in 1979.
No mention of the two historic 100+ year old fully functioning steam locomotives on the railroad. Sad.
I enjoyed the video I have lived in Dallas/Ft. Worth area all my life. Been to this park a lot of times Haven't had a chance to do Hall of justice ride looking forward to that. Saturday at Six Flags is the busiest day there I was not surprised were you had to park Sunday is usually better glad you went both days.

The new Catwoman's Whip ride is actually a Zamplera Endeavor. It is their variation of a Huss Enterprise.

It's odd how some of the VR coasters are extremely slow. Revolution is dispatching every 3 mins. Usually dispatched before the 2nd train comes back.
Well that's good news for me, I'll be out at Magic Mountain in less than two weeks

... ... ...I use too go too six flaggs over texas in the early 1970's then America Was A Buitifull Country!!! the runnaway mine train, and log ride and the outdated dark ride(were litterally so cool! and kool! the themeing of the different countries that ruled over texas, was so exciteting... ... ...where is a Dart Sub Station and rail line through the park!!! if only they would build super mega coasters, that would circle and go upwards through the park, also the food element, would be great(elevated!!! but again i remember the "shock wave", right after "the revolution", was built for the movie "rollercoaster",.1975? Irronicly, its new name is "the revolution(like that they kept "shock wave", but neing the first six flaggs park... ... ...the ownis should of been on making Six Flaggs Over Texas(BEYOUND DISNEY WORLD!!! not just sustaining it! ; this park should have , the worlds tallest, biggest, fastest, meanest,most buitifull, and most creative!!! In Flaggs and Rides(Countries and Thrills!
Again i have not been their since 1976, but this "dialougue" took me through the park, just fine at 55+ years of age... ... ...also a gondola ride, sky high, and one low, would work too american airlines stadium, for bonus parking and events ; lakes, rivers, waterfalls, streams, fountains, swimming... ... ...allways never enough water ; again...where is Dart Rail too DFW Airport, Dallas and Fort Worth ; "make it a ride"(share! Would it not be kool!!! too connect Fair Park and Six Flaggs with a "old style monorail", even better a huge "chattanooga cho cho train" with black smoke!!! it could wisk by the new 550 foot ferris wheel in downtown Dallas, and end in the Fort Worth Stock Yards!!! INSIGHT WITH CREATIVITY MAKES GREAT CITIES
