You should spend 10 minutes looking at Mediterranean Cruises that include a stop there or near there. Monaco is closer and more affordable to visit than you might expect. I was fortunate enough to stay several weeks in the region and returned via Cruise ship a few years later. If this is your dream. Do it.

Our monarchies reflect our countries. Monaco has a more relaxed, warm nature, I suppose because it is on the Mediterranean. In northern Europe we are more formal and our monarchy reflects that. Even further north and the Danish people are very relaxed and their monarchy again reflects that.

I have always watched Prince Albert. I like his mother's dimple that peeks out when he smiles. I think he is so chilled because of his American roots. He and his sisters hung out with and still do, with American cousins and grandparents.

By following the dialogue, it is self evident that this was filmed in 2012, while being released in 2016. I actually have more respect for princely families that actually RUN their countries. I know Monaco is small, but it's like running a business and Albert has to be both smart and business-savvy to succeed. A nice documentary and a window on the life of Prince Albert. I admire Princess Charlene very much. It cannot be easy to fall in love with a man and find you have married not just the man but a country - however small or large - as well.

I have always watched Prince Albert. I like his mother's dimple that peeks out when he smiles. I think he is so chilled because of his American roots. He and his sisters hung out with and still do, with American cousins and grandparents.

Visiting Monaco you get to experience a real life Magic Kingdom. It is more beautiful, inviting and accessible than you might expect. While it is a concrete jungle of sorts it is a gilded one and has an aura or vibe you don't get anywhere else.
Only if all Princes were like Albert. Such a humble Prince with a heart full of love for his people.

Albert sounds so American that it is easy to forget he is the ruling prince of Monaco. Of course, having an American mother and her relatives, plus frequent trips to Philadelphia, and going to college in the U.S. helped "Americanize" him, but he seems like a really down-to-earth American guy.
And it is said he went to summer camp as a child in New Hampshire I believe

I watched their wedding and only saw a very touching emotional young lady who truly loves her Prince. So many emotions run thru our hearts when we get married. It is a great undertaking. Prince Albert seems extremely down to earth and personable and funny. I don't get the impression because of his incredible wealth, privilege and title that he thinks he's better than other people. What a breath of fresh air. I could not see the UK monarchy doing anything like this. Showing they're regular people despite their pedigree and titles. This is certainly among the very best of all documentaries that I have seen yet, although I might add one small critical comment. By following the dialogue, it is self evident that this was filmed in 2012, while being released in 2016. It would be helpful to simply add dates into the subtitles, or anything similar, in order to place time in reference, with statements such as "...He has ruled for seven years...", etc.

risa.wolf To all the royal haters...there are very pertinent reasons why the the people love their prince. If the royals die out, Monaco becomes part of France. Among other un-pleasant things that will occur, if this should happen are the people will have to pay income tax and they will no longer receive their yearly "bonuses: " Wouldn't you "love" your prince who protects you pocket book simply by existing?
I actually have more respect for princely families that actually RUN their countries. I know Monaco is small, but it's like running a business and Albert has to be both smart and business-savvy to succeed. The British and Scandinavian royals are great, but I think compared to the work that Prince Albert has to do, it seems very minimal. I honestly had no idea he had to like work WORK in his job. I thought he just shook hands and cut ribbons like the rest of them.
So in this case, the role of a prince seems really important and necessary. You wouldn't think that can still be said in the current century.
