  • Imagine you receive a bent wire as imported geometry and need to determine its length before the bending was performed.
This video is a possible solution to this challenge:

Great technique. Solved a problem I had been trying to figure out. Thank you.

For those asking, I may have the solution to the tangent faces interrupting the face curve. If you model the tube or bar as a solid body it will show separate faces, but if you model it as a swept surface you there will be a check box to merge tangent faces. I have my project modelled as a swept boss/base, so ran into this problem. I'm going to reuse my 3D sketch from the sweep path, and create a swept surface, and check that box. Then I will save myself a lot of time hopefully.

Excellent video! I have a similar situation but my imported geometry has recognizable tangent faces. From my attempts to establish the Neutral Fiber/Center-line of my geometry, the Face Curves command only applies to one selected face. So this process has to be repeated for every individual surface along the geometry.
Is there another way to establish the Neutral Fiber of the entire imported geometry without having to use the Face Curve command multiple times? Thanks!

can you do the same with imported hollow pipe with cuts on the ends

Why face curve doesn't expand for the entire tube length...it stops after one

ya lo resolví, en esos casos debes de hacerlo pedazo por pedazo
