- Imagine you receive a bent I-Beam bar as imported geometry and need to determine its length before the bending was performed.
This video is a possible solution to this challenge:

After the video was posted, Tom Helsley pointed out that the exact length can be obtain using a composite curve, instead of a fit spline. Thank you, Tom!

thanks for the video. it contains not just the concept but much more advance tips
Thanks for the kind words, Eyal. Which advanced tips have you noticed?
Using the mid surface, which I totally forgotten about. the way to let SOLIDWORKS find pairs. also dividing the screen for picking both sides is brilliant
Thanks for pointing that out, Eyal.
Thank you very much for the video.
this tutorial is very inspiring. I am wandering what if there are holes or other features made on the bent beam. How can I unbend the beam with the features unchanged.
can you please help me with this? i cannot unbend the beam with the features unchanged.
Amazing!
Would like to combine sketch bending with simulation (one object moving another in a dynamic fashion). Through mechanical and advanced mating, I have managed to move things, but her there is force that bends then unbends metal or plastic. Can we set up some time, get a quote for helping me work through this problem?
Greetings, thank you for sharing this technique. I was wandering is there a way to get the bends locations on the straightened beam in order for a bend press to produce it accurately. It would be nice to see with a weldment beam also
Hello, thank You for technique. I'd like to ask you how to unbend an imported (step) file, this technique is OK, but my profile ends with no 90° , and i want to find out the angle and dimension of the profile before its bending. Is it possible? thx
thats wizardry
