They really push themselves when it comes to BD inspired "angry time", so much so that they'll play on "Hey, not too rough", and in some rare cases they won't even use god-mode.

None of my mods feature in this vid so I can safely give an unbiased opinion: All of these mods are amazing in their own ways and the mapsets are gorgeous (some more than others), excellent job on the vid, it's a good showcase of the doom community's overflowing creativity which will never cease to amaze me :D and the fact that you provided all the links to the mods and sourceports and stuff is so thoughtful :) I hope everyone who watches this will come away with at least one new favorite doom mod
Sadly I didnt have the opportunty to play most of your stuff, I did like what I tried of Nun with a Gun however, for a game about killing demons there aren't many mods that let you play as people of the church. The bolter was certainly a nice touch. It kinda got lost in the shuffle along with other cool stuff like gunslinger and bullet-eye, Im certainly making up for that in a future video.
Doom is the ultimate gift for anyone of all ages since there are so many differnt versions of it. It's like lego except you can play it till your 110 and on.

This is by far the best showcase/guide video for doom mods on this whole damn site. I come back to it at least once every two months to gawk at it, this really needs an updated ver soon b/c some banger hits like Treasure Tech or Lt Typhon need to be on this list.
One thing that will never cease to amaze me is just how hard and comprehensively people have modded ID Tech 1 to make the craziest shit. John Carmack was and remains a fucking wizard.
Real talk: If you wanna play brutal doom, download Project Brutality 3. It's everything brutal doom offers, with so many more bells and whistles. An additional bonus, pretty much all the assets in it are not stolen or acquired under questionable pretenses! So it's guilt free!
Great video with great recommendations. That Babel mod is really something, and I love the sounds in Dead Marine, recommended in the video about add-ons.
A really great combo is "Doom 2 Maps of Chaos" (The original Doom 2 maps altered slightly for better looks and more monsters) and Babel (gameplay mod shown in this video, alters monster behaviour and weapons while keeping the core gameplay intact). It's basically the vanilla experience, but with a couple tweaks that will make the game feel like new again. Big recommendation from me!
This video is fantastic. Such a great introduction to the modding community. If I had to be nitpicky however, I'd add Hedon to the list as you put Rekkr in it as well.
i love how some wads are just pure power fantasy busted horde slayers. like heart of demons revenant. lets you play as the animated power armor mounted demonic energy infused skeleton bone boy with shoulder mounted guns and two free hands for guns or knuckle sandwiches

Still a great video for starters, though I'd argue a few developments have arisen in the past five years: GZDoom is still king for modern mods. Woof/Nugget Doom is basically the best of both worlds from Crispy Doom and PrBoom+ and is extremely well-optimized, best sourceport for normal wads. DSDA-Doom is a cool fork of PrBoom+ for speedrunners and stuff, good option for people who don't like the "crispy" look of Woof or Nugget Doom. DoomRunner is the best modern launcher, would recommend over ZDL these days. Other than that all this video's info is still very relevant.
I can feel the hate toward brutaldoom. It is not the most original but it is still the best modernized doom mod out there. Played with extermination day map pack and you get one hell of a doom experience. But let's not forget _QCDE for multiplayer and its quake and half-life pve monster set. _Project brutality for its over the fun content. _Blade of agony for its well made wolfenstein total conversion for doom. _total chaos for being the most beautiful doom mod ever. (And a good survival horror mod for doom) _alien ultimate doom for recreating the alien movie in doom.(love the radar mechanism) _hxrtc for providing one big weapon and monster pack with some RPG mechanism. _doomreal for its high quality recreation of unreal weapons, ui and inventory items. And many more. At this point you should do a list of doom mods per type. _vanilla style. _total conversion. _modernized gameplay. _chaotic/op. _etc..
not sure why the video cut out when Brutal Doom was mentioned... solid mod, I mostly play it because I love how it makes barrels explode into huge explosions 🤣🤣🤣addictive 🤣 Brutal Doom also put care into restoring a few original characteristics of Doom from the original DOS games, small details such as making poison pits or lava pools to glow in the dark, illuminating the room, it's beautiful to see
on that website I just mentioned, there are lots of people that love Brutal Doom and don't have to fear being censored or banned from crappy forums that force you to create accounts and leak your IP address
GZDoom also has the option of using a very advanced software render that still has many features that are in the GL renderer like 24-bit colour, dynamic lighting, and even 3D polygonal models.
Pretty neat, I would also include Terrorists and Psychic into the formula, as well as Deus Vult II and Sacrament, but mostly because those are some of my favorites...
fun fact: My grandpa is 60 years old atm and he is doing well (im 13) he knows doom since he played it in his 30s and im inheriting that love for the game

The reason cacos blind you was mostly so that they serve as the meatbags they often are (particularly in Doom1 mapsets) that debuff you rather than as a glorified Fat Flying Imp. If anything, I'd be more keen on removing the slight homing of imp fireballs for both silliness reasons and for performance reasons.
I clicked the video with some skepticism, but much to my surprise, the mod's suggested in there are some very good ones. And I say it as a doom modder myself, the mod's showcased in there are very cool and their coding is quite polished =P
If you want to play more weird standalone doom fangames: SRB2 and SRB2K are Sonic in doom and Sonic in doom but racing, god they are great. MM8BDM is megaman deathmatch in doom, with a huge amount of fun
Problem for me is,doom just won't work on me because my driver doesn't have opengl,and opengl won't install because my driver is too old,and my driver got discontinued long ago,so there's no updates for it anymore
For those who seeks more vanilla expirience, but with gore: SgMarkIV (ya, this guy who made Brutal Doom and VietDoom) made a mod, calling Bolognese Doom Gore Mod. and there is more, this one compatible with ALMOST EVERY other mod)
I have released modified version of Brutal Doom versions 21 and 20B with the extra custom monsters disabled, only the weapons and decorative effects remain. (a few bug fixes too such as Auto Mouse Aim restored, making it easier for laptops players like me...) The main reason for me to modify it was to allow for network Multiplayer using maps that could not be used with BrutalDoom before.
Gud vid! I will say that I personally think Project Brutality should’ve been the pick instead of a mod that was only really made to exist as Sgt. Mark’s expense. PB better fills the “Saxton Hale zDoomGuy” niche people look for when looking for mods like Brutal Doom.
