Just a couple of tips to other fellow skaters out there. A couple of key points that should have been made are: 1) keep your knees in - after you jump on to the ledge you want to absorb the jump by bending your knees together 2) keep feet about shoulders wide - if they are too close you might slip out, same goes if they are too wide apart. 3) skates tilted about 45 degrees - it will prevent you from slipping to the sides your legs should look like this: | | / \
Cheers dude, I have a dodgy knee since my acl injury so trying to learn a royale after the frontside is tricky but crucial. I’ve realized that it helps greatly hearing different people’s tips/perspectives. I can do a royale now but had to ‘cheat’ and change my skates and frame combo to reduce the angle and pressure on my knee haha. There’s so much us beginners don’t think about
I really dig the way you explain things, it makes me think of and analyze the way i do certain tricks now and how i could improve on/develop them. I came for the stretches and workouts but you've got me hooked man! Awesome vids, keep em coming!
I started yesterday. The frontside grind is the first grind I landed. It doesn't look as good as yours so far but I have hope that I'll be able to make it look way more decent after this tutorial
Awesome to hear! Great work, don't compare yourself to others. You're experience and journey on the blades will always be uniquely "yours" We Inspire one another for sure but to me, I point to a way, its up to you to find it and make it yours. Best of Luck my friend.
@@acostablades8138 thank you for all these tutorials. They're so great and well detailed, with also some nice tips on how to overcome fear and mental barriers. They will for sure help me build a solid foundation before I go on my own Thank you so much !
I've put together some of these pieces on my own learning but I'm glad I found this! You're really not lying about the can't step up a front side, everytime I tried my foot slipped out and my hip met concrete.
Such an informative and good video for teaching one of the most basic, yet fundamental grinds in blading, it's silly but so true that learning this trick both ways helps tremendously for learning switch and normal tricks respectively and properly. Much love my dudes ❤
Been watching your videos for 2 months now. Got the stalls and almost getting those fakies in. I didn’t even know you were from Hawaii! I’m in California now but Much love from Kalihi.
Glad I could help. I plan to be out in Cali around June. Do you have IG? if so follow us there and ill shoot you a message when i plan to fly out. Gonna link up with as much Blade Fam as possible while traveling.
1 month later I still can't really do it... But I'm getting really close. Been skating with some other guys from TNR a bunch and I'm figuring it out. Starting to ufo a bit to prevent slipping out. Good news, I don't slip out as often as I used to!
Damn I finally got it, still need to work on the switch but holy moly I finally did it on a rail too. I was really scared to jump on a free rail unlike the side ledge. 10x a lot man, I hope we see more videos.
I really need to learn about this spot. Why is there a random skate ledge blended into a normal suburban park? Did someone add the coping homemade themselves, or is that town super cool and decided to put in small skate spots in parks? Good breakdown of the trick for the youngins. Most people forget to teach bending out UFO, and that causes real problems for people riding flat, or have small H-blocks.
I've been blading for the past one month i have learned the makio and mizou and now i want to learn the frontside and the first person i looked up was you💪💪 really informative THANK YOU
I learned the frontside grind by accident thinking I was doing a really bad royale 😅 glad its still a trick but taking notes from the royale video to learn
I hate this grind too, just started a few months ago and this is my 5th trick to learn after the soul, pornstar, sweatstance, and acid 😂 the grooves only tricks just feel so sketch 💀 surprisingly I never had issues with stepping up to my grinds, likely because my husband blades well and is teaching me like you do with babe n blades. Love the tips shared here, my main issues still is staying on the grind, for some reason it's hard for me to balance the entire rail, I can only stay on it for like 3 seconds.
Wow you got quite a vocab going! Keep at it, sounds like you have a good teacher and supportive husband, That's Awesome! The trick to riding out a frontside is to get completely on top of the obstacle and find that balance point between going to far over and too far back. Keep those arms out and look to the end of the obstacle. Surf that slide! Best of Luck!!!
@@acostablades8138 thank you so much for taking the time to reply, shows the dedication you have to your fans and the channel. I've just recently started getting the royale so I'm going to use your advice for that as well, groove tricks are just so different with finding your balance on. I watched your tips on the alley oop soul or maybe it was inspin soul but I'm currently trying to get the AO soul and for some reason I keep sinking one foot and not the other and my non soul foot keeps getting wheel bite on it. I can stall easily but for some reason even after more than 30 attempts I can't quite nail it
I'm newly back to aggressive inline after almost 20 years and this grind still scares the piss out of me. I've made every excuse not to do it. only thing that i've found that helps is to jump onto the same surface in sneakers a ton of times first. Learn to land onto it with both feet, (with the edge or rail mid foot) in sneakers repeatedly until it feels natural. (seems dumb but we don't naturally do this)
OK I started blading when I was 13. Bladed every day till I was 21. Then I got married and stop. Know I'm 35 and I recently got divorced. And I started blading again. Any tips or suggestions. I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you for your time.
I'm currently trying to learn frontside. I can stall and sometimes grind a bit but it is not smooth. I noticed whenever I see pics or videos of frontside grinds, the feet are usually angled out, so grinding on the inside of the frame rather than the bottom of the frame. Does this help with sliding? I have been trying to grind with my feet in a neutral position, so grinding on the flat bottom of the frames.
What would people recommend as a first grind to learn? I’ve been doing freestyle/fitness skating for a few months now but waiting for my first pair of aggressive skates to arrive in the post. Thanks!
I know it's been a while so hopefully you've already started you're blading journey, but it depends. Normally peoples first grind is front side or a soul. For me it was souls, I'm super confident with those and still wary with frontsides. I find it so easy to slip out on 'em still. ✌️
@@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 Hm, i have Aeons 80mm so i am a bit afraid to do frontsides because of the small landing area... working on Makios atm but these arent that easy :-D I generally wonder how people develop the precision to jump on a tiny rail at high speed^^
