Competitive Metal Gear speedrunner and general Metal Gear enthusiast.
Konami won't add keyboard support to MGS, so I did.
To the dismay of Steam users, Konami refuses to add keyboard and mouse support to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, so I did it for them. But should I have?

Great playthrough, but where did you get the SVD? You didn't get it during the End fight, and not in the Ponizovje swamp warehouse.
The SVD is added to your inventory when you regain your gear behind the waterfall. If it wasn't, it would be possible to softlock if you never grabbed the SVD in the 2 relatively hidden locations it appears in.

Great run! How do you keep first person view when reloading the rpg? My view always flashes to the bike real quick.
Just hold R1 while you quick reload. The same can be done while fighting The Fury and The Boss with the Mosin.

It took like 30 tries but I finally beat The End the same way as you. My problem was getting The End stunned for those ~10 seconds. The key seems to be the overhand throw and throwing the Stun Grenades in rapid sequence. Overhand is tricky because it requires holding square for a bit longer but if you hold it for too long, you aren't throwing it in rapid sequence (which will result in The End laying down and shooting instead of being stunned). Not sure if getting a better controller (e.g., PS5 one) would help with the overhand throw because I was using some cheap PS-type controller.
That was insanely fast 😎,I’ve completed this game several times growing up my best speed time yesterday was 2 hours 10 mins the only exploit I knew was the fears exploit I do it with the knife but I’m going to try another speedrun tomorrow (I’m rusty haven’t played this game in over 7 years ) this will help me get my speedrun a lot faster than 2 hours thank for the tips I subscribed 😁

Yeah, it works. The only thing I recommend changing is that you need to take a step forward after reviving during The Fear, since The Fear always walks up behind you on PC.

Well, having tested the MGS3 Master Collection version, the mouse part was pretty well done, except for the sensitivity, maybe. Unfortunately, the keyboard part quite was horrendous (and it could have been good without really changing the game or camera), which wouldn't be a problem if they put some rebind options (WTF?). And, if they implemented first person mouse aiming in MGS3, why not in MGS2?
Why is he looking up when fighting the shagohod?
It's to reduce slowdown. MGS3 doesn't support frame skipping, so when the game's framerate drops, the game slows down to wait for the next frame to be drawn. This means that you take more time to make the same amount of progress. By looking up, I get a higher FPS, so less slowdown, so I go faster. Looking up is unnecessary on Xbox One/Series, PS5, and PC.

Guards just can't see through that gap between the tree in the wall, regardless of your camo index.
What is the advantage that gives you using the box so often
The box makes you walk up hills and stairs faster, as well as allows you to do box headshots, which is a fast way of taking out a guard. It also puts out fire if Snake is on fire.

@@zejpm5950 Yeah, the Master Collection version doesn't have any slowdown unless you have a slow PC, or maybe on Switch.

Do you do anything that manipulates the Pain fight or is it just down to pure speed? I am getting the hang of tactical reload headshots on him, but sometimes it feels like he just says "nah its time for you to be covered in bees" while I'm in the middle of shooting him (the annoying one where the bees fly around and sting you every second)
Not really. I don't recommend going for headshots, it's too easy to miss. Just open with 4 body shots, throw a stun to get him out of his shield, them spam body shots to end phase 1. Open phase 2 with a stun to get him out of his shield, then spam body shots for all of phase 2.

Also. I did these runs back in the day on very easy, best time I got was around 1:19:00. I'm very impressed :)

@@sneakysquirrel1990 The barrel was environmental damage, so it didn't count as a kill. Volgin doesn't count as a kill because he doesn't die, whether I use a lethal weapon or not. Same as Ocelot, but it just happens to be faster to non-lethal Ocelot.
Im genuinely upset ive done no alert runs and had so much trouble this not only does it 4 times faster but it makes it look easy

@@angelustt His run is multi-segment, whereas mine is single-segment. This means that his run was done in many smaller segments, and mine was done in one single attempt. This allows him to do strats that are impossible in single-segment, such as at 18:45 in his run, when he exits Granin's area with a caution, then saves and reloads to remove it. These runs are separated in different categories on the boards and all runners consider them to be substantially different.
