Man I love this video. I rebuild boats for a living and do a lot of sanding. So much pleasure watching someone else do it! Even if you had external power with a vacuum your boat is going to be filthy. There is just no way around it.
Ahh glad you enjoyed it! Glad to hear there’s no way around it, hindsight it would’ve been nice to paint it before fitting the boat out but we were keen to get onboard and it wasn’t a massive priority
When you took off the dust mask, I thought you had changed to Wolverine! The resemblance is striking. And the battle against rust continues, it looks like you're winning ;-) AND YES! you found it! wondeful news.
Your doing amazing guy's. Adam is a hard worker and when he lost his ring my heart sank and your story of how you got them specialist made .Danni being a nurse is one of the hardest jobs there is i thank you for being wonderful. I have a lot to thank the NHS for 2.yrs ago i had covid and the brilliant ARW safed me thy saved me. Bless you both much love xx
So pleased that you found it. I lost my wedding ring three times in the first year and one of them was down a scrap yard, another time it came off in a work glove and it was not until a week later when I put the gloves back on that I found it, the third time I cannot remember how I lost it. Not wanting to push my luck any further since then it has sat on the shelf in the house. Feb next year we will have been married 25 years, the wife's ring is worn on the outside and the pattern is going smooth, my ring looks like it has just come out of the shop (lol).
Oh wow! 😂😂 only 3 months in so I’ve still got time to match your record. My Dad’s is the same as your wife’s and the pattern is completely smooth so he doesn’t wear it as it’s too thin and my mums arthritis in her fingers means she can’t take hers off if she wanted to 😂😂
What an absolute legend for coming out to help you, what a stroke of luck that it got stuck on the post. Bless him he was so determined as were you for actually getting in that water and not giving up. 💍I can only imagine how relieved you both are that you have it back where it belongs. So happy you both found it 🤗
Aw man, so relieved to see this comment, and those following, before watching video! 😍Ya know, it is interesting, I'll likely never actually meet Danni and Joe; they don't know me, just my name on occasional comments; I'm at least as old as their parents; but yet, because there is this virtual acquaintance with them and their experience of life, how Danni and Joe are doing does matter, & learning of the loss of that significant, and well traveled!, ring was quite distressing.
Talk about luck - searching through that silt and mud and you found it. Tell me, what does relief feel like. Well now that is over, back to work - can't wait for your continuing adventures. Watching you and Danni - never a dull moment.
After your paint has full cured, apply Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic Liquid wax, protects the paint, beads water, very long lasting up to a year, but I like to apply a second coat after about six months, very easy to apply.
Hi Joe,glad you found your wedding ring, the painting 🖌️ is on a treat.ps my wife asked can you lose the fur from under the chin because she said that you would look better without it. Regards from Hereford
Get a boat, they said. It will be fun, they said. I admire your grafting. I moved in to a new house in July and there is only one wall or ceiling that I haven't painted or wallpapered. I understand your pain. So pleased there was a good ending.
Congratulations, a great find! I was thinking about the bulkhead too, you might think about where you wish to have your tunnellight before you paint the bulkhead, in case you move it to the cover you might weld a part of metal on instead of the light. Just thinking loud. In an earlier film you were talking about having dogs on narrowboats, check with Emma "Narrowboat Girl" how to do it, they have had up to four dogs onboard.
Next week on the Joe and Adam show... Adam hunts for the forgotten Go-Pro whilst Joe shows us the hidden properties of canal silt when his tattoos start changing colour!
So pleased that you found it. I seem to think that something was said on the Q and A vlog about you both twiddling with your rings. Maybe you should both get them resized so the don't come off as easily?
OMG I cringe at the amount of graft you do building a love nest. Full of admiration and respect the boat is looking fantastic and is a real credit for all your labour. Well Joe you are some kind of guy. Danni must be delighted with finding it. Well done marriage safe!!! Tape it when your doing heavy work it will be safer. Have better week
After the 3rd day I found having a fan on pointing towards the door from inside stopped anything coming in (as I still needed to pop through that door at times so couldn’t tape up completely)

@@ItsOhJoe You have a problem if it was lead based as it is now dust all over the boat and pretty much all that is inside it. Best to test it now to find out if you need to do a full deep clean of everything otherwise it could be around for years. If there are no wires around and is safe to do so a blow lamp, gas or paraffin, would be better, or if you have the electric a hot air gun would be better still. You would still have some dust but would be in sticky lumps that would hold any lead and once cold enough could be bagged instead of brushed up. Paint stripper is the obvious best but would cost a fortune and take far more time. If it has a lead content Danni well knows the score on that one being NHS and at a good guess it is the doghouse for you. Don't forget to test the water tank if it has a vent fitted to it which I guess it has. I would suggest the bottom coats of paint are nothing but lead based myself, alright you wearing a mask but not that good to sleep in the dust or sweep it up without one as you now have a lead dust anywhere it has landed if it is lead based to add to your concerns.
I do hope you haven’t filled that beautifully decorated boat with dust Jo !! I noticed the door was open whilst you were sanding and grinding 😮. I lost my ring in Swanley Marina, just the same as you, shaking my hand. Plop, off it went. £600 gold ring. Still down there for some person like you to find! Replaced it on the insurance. The moral of the story is make sure the ring is a snug fit!
Ahhh no! It’s difficult as it fits nice (or so I think) but if my hands get wet or dusty then it comes off a little easy. I’m tempted to get a smaller ring to slip on the same finger to keep as a ‘lock’ ring or something.
Oh wow that was amazing, well done, I know you could have got another one but it isn't the same is it? I bet you take it off now when you are working. You did so much work as well, great job. Best wishes Christine x

😂 there is a reason - it’s about the only area we can prep whilst in the marina as not allowed to use the grinder on the outside of the boat! Oh the dust is crazy, can’t wait to see the state of the boat when we’re tackling the roof and sides!

So after a few oil changes the gearbox started working again (touch wood), we’ve got a spare with us now just incase, not sure what was up with if to be honest!
Joe let me tell you something cos I know my business I did try to tell you when you painted inside your boat but you didn't listen and come this winter you will see your mistake. You need to understand that rust forms because of oxygen and temperature below zero rust cannot form but above it will do the cheapest and best primer is knotting it's shellac, after you can put on top of it any paint you wish but again I recommend masonry paint, forget these paints you have mentioned I'm am very much in the know.
As always we appreciate the advice but we get around 100 comments per video, each with conflicting information (not necessarily wrong info just peoples opinions) - if we took everyone’s advice it would be a nightmare! Where are you buying your knotting from as it seems to be around £10-12 per 250ml

I watch alot of refurbishing of boats on Utube and always believed.one of cost should be budgeted for is sand blasting inside and out and painting before starting. You can grinder but it will never do as good a job really.
Oh definitely in an ideal situation. Our boat had already been spray foamed when we bought it so the inside was out of the question. We’re trying a tool that is supposed to replicate sandblasting it’s called Tercoo Rotary Blaster. We’ll see how we get on!
Ospho Part #OSPHOGOspho Metal Treatment GallonOspho Metal Treatment Gl When applied to rusted surfaces, it resists/retards rust in chemical change on drying to a tough, hard surface ready for priming. Paint jobs will last longer after an application of OSPHO because subsequent paint coating securely attaches itself so that moisture and oxygen normally do not attack the metal. Water-thin, covers a larger area than paint and goes on easily. Equally effective for exterior or interior. Available in Case Quantity only.Attributes:Description: Metal TreatmentSize: This stuff from Amazon will save you time Joe. Maybe your health too! Your beating your self up with all that work. There are other good rust inhibitors also. Good luck it’s looking good.
That sounds quite similar to Vactan/Fertan etc. I’ve always read it’s better to clear the rust completely rather than relying on an inhibitor but it definitely saves time you’re not wrong. I’m hoping to get back to bare metal on the roof and sides and stick with the zinc primer.
Quick comment about swimming in marinas - don't. I am a sailor, and marinas frequently suffer from electrical currents in the water from bad wiring. There have been multiple cases of people drowning because they get paralyzed by the current, then go under. Thankfully you had somebody with you, but I would not recommend going into the water at any marina if possible.
Your nickname is now Golom cus you'll go to any trouble to get your precious back, now even I believe in miracles, don't know about being in the water thinking now you could walk on it
Have you learnt your lesson yet, wedding rings and work places do not go together, wear your wedding ring when you are out socializing, take it off when you are working.
@@ItsOhJoe Yes and now you have a good memory to remind you not to wear it while working, but I would say it obviously needs resizing, a ring should slip off your finger that easily.
Bloody great job Adam for coming over to help out. Top bloke in my book 👌👌👌👌👌👌

Available in Case Quantity only.Attributes:Description: Metal TreatmentSize:
This stuff from Amazon will save you time Joe.
I crushed mine on my finger had to cut it off
Ouch! How did you manage that? My worst fear with the ring other than losing it is getting it stuck in some sort of machinery and skinning my finger 😫
@@ItsOhJoe Dremel tool with a cutting wheel. Smashed between cement blocks
@@williamrandall1415 good shout on the dremel!
What a shit job all that grinding well done mate,s glad you got your ring back, a marriage saved 👍
Thank you! Yes hell of a job & got the rest of the boat to do 😂
@@ItsOhJoe I don’t envy you 🤪
Quick comment about swimming in marinas - don't. I am a sailor, and marinas frequently suffer from electrical currents in the water from bad wiring. There have been multiple cases of people drowning because they get paralyzed by the current, then go under. Thankfully you had somebody with you, but I would not recommend going into the water at any marina if possible.
Wow didn’t even consider that. Just as well as would’ve thought twice about getting in!
Didn't realise you were married in this episode
🙌
Is she talking to you yet....?
😂😂 she was over the moon when we found it!
Your nickname is now Golom cus you'll go to any trouble to get your precious back, now even I believe in miracles, don't know about being in the water thinking now you could walk on it
😂😂😂
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
So relieved! 😂
🥰🥰 🥰🥰 🥰🥰 💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Have you learnt your lesson yet, wedding rings and work places do not go together, wear your wedding ring when you are out socializing, take it off when you are working.
Very easy to get carried away working on the boat and not realising you’re wearing it though!
@@ItsOhJoe Yes and now you have a good memory to remind you not to wear it while working, but I would say it obviously needs resizing, a ring should slip off your finger that easily.
Please stop talking about paint...
It’s a relatively important subject when painting a boat unfortunately
brilliant mate ,so happy for you both ;)
Thank you!
