There are two beneficial things about surface loot crates. 1. No white drops spawn 2. It seems as if you get way less structure blueprints if any at all.

I found that in the southwest surface zone, there are more red (level 80) loot drops. Also during the holiday event the loot was insanely good. Shame that is over now.
At 0:50, when u open the first few drops ie blue drop it gave u chilliest leggings and later a chitin helmet... on regular servers like official they give u blueprints and very rarely a premade armor, it is proven that the drops are boosted to where u get more premade prices of armor and better bps... same for other drops btw on any server u make or have contact with any admin on one they can boost drops do that u can get asc saddle sand flak from white drops. The surface drops are better by comparison underground and on normal server(official standards)
i noticed when i did this methoid that there are usually reapers at every drop and i cant seem to get the drop quick enough before the reaper starts attacking
I don’t know if they change drastically if you change settings or what but in my server loot wasn’t that crazy in a 3x loot drop in ragnarok, but in aberration its crazy, 500% damage and 500 durability weapons aren’t that rare, even blueprints that are crazy high enough that can’t be crafted

500% damage ? i played close to 5000 hours of ark-official servers and the highest i found on official was close to 250%? pretty sure your settings are way off from official rates. and just like nooblets, i have been mostly disappointed with surface loot... doing the island water caves or ragnarok golem for me so far is by far the most efficient way of getting ascendant shit.
Vasich lolcode changing loot and difficulty would make those 500% common, and on official I think you can have 300% or more weapons but you have to be farming a lot or just getting lucky, I could be wrong but I saw videos on official with those numbers
yes but its about official so coming in with a comment about 500% does not make sense i would say. i think 300% used to be possible but i remember them nerfing weapon %'s shortly after tek was released since it was to easy to kill bosses. i am however not sure what they did after, since i lost interest and do not play to compete or pvp anymore i stopped reading patchnotes.

as the other guys said, its luck, as during christmas event i did farm the said drop, and got shit tons of ascendant, (like a lot !), but even the if the event is gone, im still getting bit better loot than he got, because WOW you must be super unlucky to get so much shit loot (btw im on official so yeah ...) id suggest that nooblets check hes server settings, must be a bit too low for loot drops
I was getting at least one "useful" item per real world 24 hours. But that's playing all day and grabbing every single drop (official Xbox). It takes about 3-4 real world days to find a decent Drake saddle BP and about 5 real world days to see "good" pick BPs. I did this for weeks and found one 200 damage pick BP, one ascendant Drake saddle, and one mastercraft Drake saddle, along with basilisk saddles, ravaged saddles (and their BPs), and some Karkinos Saddles and BPs. It's a RNG roll of loot quality. Ringed drops have the best loot.
Gotten plenty of ascendant crafted items and blueprints on official server runs, and still getting them. Maybe the area of surface? I don't know, i just know we are getting plenty of Mastercraft and Ascendant loot.
I got journeymen longneck from a blue drop and a MC pick BP from a purple drop on the surface, they seem better compared to the drops on ragnarok or island.
I would like to add that drops with a red ring can spawn occasionally. Also I could be a complete idiot, but the top right hand spawn seems to give more consistent rock drake saddles, managed to get a 70.5 armor bp from one.

i think i already got most of what you can get up there as ascendent on official, if you farm it frequently enough you'll get there. Not saying its the best but given the result i've gotten while only playing on aberration, its not bad. Nice video tho
the ones in the caves specifically, i know aberration is one giant cave really but the drops i mean have no beam coming off them. they have all the best blueprints i've found so far.
There has been a misconception over the surface regions of aberration having radiation, this is not the case. You do not need to being any hazard suits to be able to go there safely, but you should bring charge light pets to deal with any reaper/nameless you can't get away from.

No sorry, the drops in the rest of the map are to much of a pain in the arse to get to and find. I built the surface base hoping I could farm the surface of loot drops because they are easy to see. But after testing the crap out of these surface zone, its not worth trying and was a total waste of my time sorry. Some people said they got asc gear on the surface, as you saw from my tests i got jack shit :P
I'm only about two-hundred fifty cementing paste from a cliff platform, and once I get there I'm building a base at the third drop location, I only ever play on single player so I'd be fine with any of that loot

Well I carried on farming on the end of that video and i'm still carrying on testing it right now, and all i'm going is a shit load of green and blue shit :P The purple is about the same amount and I have one yellow again. But still never got a single ascendant, so you must be luck as hell :P
So is it safe to assume you used default settings to test this? The loot seems similar to what i was able to get on official but i cant be sure without knowing your settings. So far i seem to average one or two mastercraft items every time i go up so it does build up quickly, only ascendant item i have found so far is a Rollrat saddle. So while not useful for ascendant gear if your on official and cant transfer items in than the surface drops are certainly worth it.
How long does it take to have the drops respawn? This video had to have been over hours long to make waiting for them to spawn? I assume theres not that many alllll over the surface

Problem is how do you craft it when Smitty only has 75 slots & material required supersede available spaces? Yes I know taking BP to another map where you can use a Beaver or bring in a Beaver to Aberration are options, but I like to play the game with set characters starting from scratch on each map.
I might be wrong but i dont think the colors of the drop has anything to say about whats in there. I get as much good loot from blue drops as i get crap from yellow and red. It also seems like the beacons are handeled more like dungeon/cave loot instead of your normal airdrop.
the Red ones have a higher chance of a better quality item in them, at least on Island and Scorched, but i have yet to prove it on Aberration. One fact that is true is, that you need around 10-20 more level to access the beacons compared to Island.

Nolan Satak the day/night cycle is a little tricky on aberration. You get 45 minutes of night during days that end in 7,8, and 9. Those are the days to do surface drops.

I know what I am about to say has nothing to do with the video but....I’ll say it still. People may find weird my métal farming method, i use this method because I am alone on a PVE server so i can’t do the ankylo and quetzal metal farming method. So what I did to get loads of metal was to tame 11 argentavis, one that I ride and 10 that follow me. I’ve upgraded mostly their weight and stamina, mine has more balanced stats but still has more weight and stamina. So I go farm metal at the volcano or the mountain in the middle of the red wood. Then i mount about 600 metal per argie which makes me 6000+200 metal on my Argie and since I’m alone it is more than enough because I am at mid game now. I like my strategy, but I don’t know if there is any better method for metal when your by yourself. It be awesome if I could know.
just got back from my first surface trip and got a pump shotgun, a flag gauntlet, a chitin chest, stego saddle, chitin helm, longneck blueprint, megalosaurus saddle blueprint, spino saddle, lance, raptor saddle, climbing pick, and a simple pistol all at ascendant quality.
How exactly are they hard to get? I got some blue and purple drops all the way in the fertile area (The Edge 4, Upper Mushroom Forest, Fertile Lake) and just wondered if there are more.
I was lucky enough to get an ascendant drake saddle on my first short trip out there on a ravager. Takes 2.5k red gems to craft one and almost 4k ingots.

Nolan Satak just don’t go up there on days that end in 4,5, and 6. Those are short nights. 0,1,2 and 3 are normal 50/50

Could you show where exactly to find cave drops and maybe what you get from them?

nooblets.com no, I mean the drops inside the caves where the artifacts are. I saw a video of somebody going there, only been in the red biome cave once - didnt find drops
What is your loot quality set to? I'm planning on doing this on official but idk if it's gonna be worth losing my items over easier access underground crates
As soon as you collect a drop a new one will spawn in for the area you are in. So you can go in circles if you want.

I know what I am about to say has nothing to do with the video but....I’ll say it still. People may find weird my métal farming method, i use this method because I am alone on a PVE server so i can’t do the ankylo and quetzal metal farming method. So what I did to get loads of metal was to tame 11 argentavis, one that I ride and 10 that follow me. I’ve upgraded mostly their weight and stamina, mine has more balanced stats but still has more weight and stamina. So I go farm metal at the volcano or the mountain in the middle of the red wood. Then i mount about 600 metal per argie which makes me 6000+200 metal on my Argie and since I’m alone it is more than enough because I am at mid game now. I like my strategy, but I don’t know if there is any better method for metal when your by yourself. It be awesome if I could know.

it wasnt even on the surface, it was near the crystal lake up on a ledge hidden by some rocks
i havent even gone to the surface yet. will be soon once it turns night again
just got back from my first surface trip and got a pump shotgun, a flag gauntlet, a chitin chest, stego saddle, chitin helm, longneck blueprint, megalosaurus saddle blueprint, spino saddle, lance, raptor saddle, climbing pick, and a simple pistol all at ascendant quality.
did u tested also how good items u get at 10% night and how good at 90% night? :)

no sorry, they are to hard to find and get to, I wanted to farm the surface but its pants, at least I know now :P
How exactly are they hard to get? I got some blue and purple drops all the way in the fertile area (The Edge 4, Upper Mushroom Forest, Fertile Lake) and just wondered if there are more.

Th drops are definitely different you dont get snipers in red drops
You need that full set of asc cloth BP's you survive all the raids lol
I was lucky enough to get an ascendant drake saddle on my first short trip out there on a ravager. Takes 2.5k red gems to craft one and almost 4k ingots.
