The relay has an no and nc terminal. It's either or but not both at the same time. When relay energised, the no contact will be supplied with power. When it is not the nc will be powered
a switch would essentially do the same thing. Except it would be manual, where as the relay is 'automatic' because itll switch on/off depending on if the car is on or off.
I did not as I figured since the aux fuse box had fuses for each accessory already, should be fine. Is it good practice to have another fuse running inline from the battery to the aux fuse box?
@HazardGarage yes, as a spike in the system with a fuse would prevent any further damage. I have had it once when someone did this and it burnt the loom out.. just giving you a heads up..

Could I just use a cigarette plug instead of relay?
technically....yes. But this is just a clean way of running multiple accessories off the 12V accessory/cig plug.
