I don't think Niles career is ruined completely, I think it is heavily damaged but if he rebrands, changes his name, comes back in a couple years he might have a second shot, but dont count on a third shot. It is definitely ridiculous how badly teams like GG can damage a players prospects though.

Rogue and MAD proved that you can actually tell within a year if they're gonna be anything. If you play like GG does now, they're not suddenly gonna be different next year just because this year was "developmental"
Hmm I think there's a difference between development and young roster. Teams that have young talent out of the gate that are ready now. Is GGS really a development team? Not sure how long Iconic/Newbie have played. Idk what the community thinks of Ablaze. Maybe Niles is a good idea but needs time. For what it's worth, they are probably unable to get exactly who they want due to financial restraints.

I'm done being a 100T fan, after this team ran Ryoma for multiple weeks in a row I realize now that Papa prefers nepotism to success, why should I reward that with fan support. Add in these drafts where they just went Olaf/Renekton every single game for 9 weeks and I just can't do it, man. I was a DIG fan from Season 2 until they dissolved initially, and I never felt so betrayed by a team than I do with 100T now. Every season with DIG sucked as we drop from 8-0 to 9-11, but at least the team had a soul and purpose. Even as they slumped, they were trying to adapt and doing new champion picks to gain momentum back. Not just braindead drafting the same shit every time. The only thing I feel when watching 100T play is anger from wasting Ssumday's career and apathy towards their lack of any sort of development.
I was rooting for 100t as well even tho they werent doing as good but as soon as perkz talked about how damonte wasnt as good they switched to ryooma. Didnt even have damontes back and caved to outward pressure smh....

I think that one of the reason they managed to get Newbie for league minimum is that even tho his org is in the Mexican league technically, it's a South American org in origin. He must've not been making enough for it to be worth staying in the League even tho he was making minimum. The new orgs in LLA are making bank compared to teh ones coming from the old leagues.

Why does no one eer talk about the weird fact that WEstern leagues only have like 10 teams when LPL and LCK have 17 I think and makes for a much more diverse league and better competition. I wish the LCS had 18 teams like in Football.
LCK only has 10 teams. The LPL does have 17. I don’t know how much more teams will help with competition b/c you end up diluting the talent into more teams. Even in the lpl there’s a bunch of teams that don’t really win that often. A bigger issue might be that they play more games in LPL and LCK due to the fact that it’s best of 3. Whereas in the west it’s best of 1. I think corejj brought this up in an interview.
Yes. In LEC you might argue for 12 teams but at a certain point there is just not enough competitive player material. A bo3 could possibly be more useful BUT it would hurt the western viewership. Like who wants to see a full bo3 between AST vs VIT or in LCS GGS vs CLG. Thats why the west isnt doing bo3 anymore.

There is a difference between mechanics and macro. Mechanics worsen as you age and if you don't practice consistently. Do you think someone like sneaky is all of a sudden not fit to be coach? Because he has gotten to the point where his mechanics don't hold up? What about faker? Two years from now it's not likely that he will compete with someone like chovy. Is he not fit to coach chovy? Of course he is. Ls is making the point about qualified coaches being people who are good enough to have been in challenger at one point or another. Umm no, most coaches that would be fit to coach would be challenger/master players that did not get the gig to go pro. That is at least 100 per region at any given time. Add all of the retired players/old challenger players and you can definitely get a decent population per region. Your ability to click the mouse fast and accurately has no say in how much game knowledge you have. You can have great game knowledge but not be able to compete with prime faker or chovy. This does not mean you don't know better than them. In fact, low mechanical players (typically older players) often have better macro considering they can't rely on winning games with their mechanics. If you honestly believe that ls is saying that he can play better than faker or chovy in game than you are mistaken. He has repeatedly discussed this topic and is simply saying coaches should be at the level of players to be able to teach them something (which is true). A plat player will learn nothing from a bronze player in this kind of a game. In case you didn't know, ls is constantly laning against kr challenger players to test out different matchups. He's always rooming with them and he's even demolished pro players in lane in the past (crown rumble). He's definitely not better than them but he's definitely a mid diamond to masters kr solo q level despite not playing as often as most solo q players. The amount of challenger players he has played with is proof enough that he can hang. If you want to hate the guy then find something else to hate him for. There's a lot of stuff out there that you can pick. Idc about him personally and dislike his analysis for being too vague, scattered, and hard- headed. But he knows his stuff even if he's always blinded by "perfect league of legends"
Does LS think that pro sports coaches must be better at the actual tasks than the players? CEOs of manufacturing companies MUST be better at specific tasks than entry-level employees? Weird mentality, if you look up the leadership vs skills diagrams for any organization, the top leaders should not be the best at a "bench" skill, they need to be the best at the leadership skill.
But coaches in sports actually know their shit. Coaches in league are coinflips if they aren't ex players. Having a deep knowledge of the topic matter goes a long way in coaching compared to surface level trivia when instructing and coaching people. If it was just for moral support just hire a sports psychiatrist

Coaching is an entirely different skill set then playing and if you dont understand that then you haven't listened to many good coaches talk about how they work. Watch Last Chance U for some examples of how to be a great coach and leader.

Everyone keeps hyping up TL, but they haven't won a split without Doublelift (yes I know he was on the team in Spring last year, but he wasn't mentally there). They keep talking clutch factor, but I really think Doublelift provided that clutch factor, especially if you watch the series where they're getting shit on by TSM in finals Spring 2019, and Doublelift asks for kill potential botlane so he can carry the game. It'll be interesting to see who wins this year, when there's no Doublelift to guarantee a win.

CLG is ok though. Some analysts unironically think they are better than some playoff teams.
CLG is ok, they have great early games but they randomly feed late game, which is easier to fix than learning how to gain leads early.

Why does no one eer talk about the weird fact that WEstern leagues only have like 10 teams when LPL and LCK have 17 I think and makes for a much more diverse league and better competition. I wish the LCS had 18 teams like in Football.
LCK only has 10 teams. The LPL does have 17. I don’t know how much more teams will help with competition b/c you end up diluting the talent into more teams. Even in the lpl there’s a bunch of teams that don’t really win that often. A bigger issue might be that they play more games in LPL and LCK due to the fact that it’s best of 3. Whereas in the west it’s best of 1. I think corejj brought this up in an interview.
Yes. In LEC you might argue for 12 teams but at a certain point there is just not enough competitive player material. A bo3 could possibly be more useful BUT it would hurt the western viewership. Like who wants to see a full bo3 between AST vs VIT or in LCS GGS vs CLG. Thats why the west isnt doing bo3 anymore.

There is a difference between mechanics and macro. Mechanics worsen as you age and if you don't practice consistently. You can have better game knowledge than chovy but you will never beat him because he will straight up dominate you in lane with mechanics. Do you think someone like sneaky is all of a sudden not fit to be coach? Because he has gotten to the point where his mechanics don't hold up? What about faker? Two years from now it's not likely that he will compete with someone like chovy. Is he not fit to coach chovy? Of course he is.
Ls is making the point about qualified coaches being people who are good enough to have been in challenger at one point or another. He does this to directly critizise coaches who have never been high elo and will never understand macro aspects of the game because of it. He's said this many times.

10 people? Umm no, most coaches that would be fit to coach would be challenger/master players that did not get the gig to go pro. That is at least 100 per region at any given time. Add all of the retired players/old challenger players and you can definitely get a decent population per region. Your ability to click the mouse fast and accurately has no say in how much game knowledge you have. You can have great game knowledge but not be able to compete with prime faker or chovy. This does not mean you don't know better than them. In fact, low mechanical players (typically older players) often have better macro considering they can't rely on winning games with their mechanics.
If you honestly believe that ls is saying that he can play better than faker or chovy in game than you are mistaken. He has repeatedly discussed this topic and is simply saying coaches should be at the level of players to be able to teach them something (which is true). A plat player will learn nothing from a bronze player in this kind of a game. In case you didn't know, ls is constantly laning against kr challenger players to test out different matchups. He's always rooming with them and he's even demolished pro players in lane in the past (crown rumble). He's definitely not better than them but he's definitely a mid diamond to masters kr solo q level despite not playing as often as most solo q players. The amount of challenger players he has played with is proof enough that he can hang.
If you want to hate the guy then find something else to hate him for. There's a lot of stuff out there that you can pick. Idc about him personally and dislike his analysis for being too vague, scattered, and hard- headed. But he knows his stuff even if he's always blinded by "perfect league of legends"
Does LS think that pro sports coaches must be better at the actual tasks than the players? CEOs of manufacturing companies MUST be better at specific tasks than entry-level employees? Weird mentality, if you look up the leadership vs skills diagrams for any organization, the top leaders should not be the best at a "bench" skill, they need to be the best at the leadership skill.
But coaches in sports actually know their shit. Coaches in league are coinflips if they aren't ex players. Having a deep knowledge of the topic matter goes a long way in coaching compared to surface level trivia when instructing and coaching people.

That actually has nothing to do with motivation or coaching a team. I ran a 5 million dollar annual budget shipping and receiving department for a dental laboratory. I couldn't pack boxes faster or enter new product orders faster/more accurately than my best team members but I was damn good at getting them motivated and working together as a team. Coaching is an entirely different skill set then playing and if you dont understand that then you haven't listened to many good coaches talk about how they work. Watch Last Chance U for some examples of how to be a great coach and leader.

Everyone keeps hyping up TL, but they haven't won a split without Doublelift (yes I know he was on the team in Spring last year, but he wasn't mentally there). They keep talking clutch factor, but I really think Doublelift provided that clutch factor, especially if you watch the series where they're getting shit on by TSM in finals Spring 2019, and Doublelift asks for kill potential botlane so he can carry the game. It'll be interesting to see who wins this year, when there's no Doublelift to guarantee a win.
