It's the perfect launch for BM's Box camera line. They'll sell a ton of these to the people who can't wait, and then they'll bring out the Pro version with ND's, Tiltable Screen and another Audio Input-and sell a ton of these as well.
Perhaps. I'm not sure that'll happen anytime soon though. This body just came out and the new camera is too small for all of those things to be included in the current form factor. A more likely progression is the pocket line getting a full frame sensor or a redesign. The pocket and Ursa lines will probably be the only place we'll ever get an all in one camera from BM. The box line is meant to be modular. So inherently lacking in certain areas. Maybe ND's or a modular ND solution. we'll see. Fun times either way.
Wait for the pro version. It’ll cost $500-700 more though. They said the Pyixs is an introduction of a mid-tier line above the pocket line. I doubt the pocket line will ever not be plastic.
no, blackmagic had something else in mind. The Pyxis is targeting the shooter whos working in a controlled environment with a small crew, where as the Cinema 6K is aimed at the shooter whos doing more run and gun. Sister-cameras targeting different crowds. It's important we know which camera works best for our own specific needs.
Totally agree with these points! The 6K Pro is too handy for me and my workflow at the moment to give up. I can strip it down to the body only and still have every single function I have when its fully rigged (minus battery life)
The 6k Pro is such a work horse! I don't "hate" the form factor but gosh, if it were a box like the Pyxis it would be perfect. And if the Pyxis had the same Prores options it would be a bit more tempting than it is. Thanks for the feedback! 🙏🏼
@@GarrettWare I'm sure there will be an updated version eventually. The new FF 12k actually has my eye. Curious to see the actual DR results at 2/1 signal to noise.

One year of wait you think ?
@@NadirMessaïShorts Could be sooner, they are moving fast these days
I could certainly see a follow up model to the Pyxis very soon especially with the box form factor being well received!

Yeah I understand they use plastic to keep cost down which is much appreciated for us "every day" shooters!

ProRes is an update, I will wait
I hope so! That would make it VERY attractive
That thumbnail is on point man
Thank you!🙏🏼
Your thoughts mirror mine. I can’t leave my internal NDs and I need more frame rate options to be pulled away from my 6k pro.

Pienso lo mismo, es rara, pero buena.
Agreed!
