Yay! As a total newb who doesn't intend on putting more weight on the bar ever, these 2 cues are the only way I've been able to increase my confidence under the bar. Thank you!
Don't follow any of this video's advice. There are safer and better ways to shoulder press a barbell. The sad thing is that this influencer will keep doing this and get more and more confident with this dangerous and stupid technique.
Greta stuff, especially for the "Weightlifting Nerds" like me who enjoy the technical analysis of a particular movement. I use no-foot regularly but as a relative newbie (1 year of real Weightlifting) I am still getting accustomed to hook (without tape or wrist wraps) and rarely use straps, except for pulls or complexes (via Gregg Everett). What I would really like to see is a comparison of weightlifters who "release" the hook in the turnover / finish of the snatch VS. those who KEEP the hook all the way to the end. (and what are the advantages / benefits of each)
Max Lang from GER doesn't release the hook during snatch. I had a forearm issue once where I couldn't go overhead even with an empty barbell. However, when I tried holding onto the hook I had zero pain. Taught myself how to snatch and jerk with the hook. The pain eventually went away. Other than THAT super individually weird situation, I have no clue what the advantages would be to hold on, personally.
Loving the content Zack. Each video approaches the techniques from a different angle, extremely helpful to us. Contrary to what an earlier troll stated, I didn't actually put on real muscle until I started doing these lifts 👍👍.
Thanks for info! Been learning the snatch and clean and I’ll definitely give this a try. Your ques and message is clear and concise so it’s very easy to understand unlike a lot of other coaches I’ve watched
My primary work on snatch comes from doing CrossFit, but I'm not in love with the cues CF adopts of jumping with the idea that hip contact shouldn't be much at all. I'd love to see a video sometime about your take on hip contact and driving upwards as a person who isn't anti CrossFit but also is proficient in oly lifting. Love the videos, thanks man.
Love it. Having a hars time finding a coach in Georgia. All these places just want "group classes" and teach modified versions. I live near Quest in Duluth if anybody reading this might know someone that will teach snatch and clean and jerk.
Late here, but jump onto USA Weightlifting and plug your zip code into their Coach directory. I found like 20 . The only challenge will be finding one that actually has been successfully coaching for a good while: being certified is like having a private pilot’s license: You are qualified to go out and advance your flying skills on your own. A WL cert doesn’t make you into a Jim Schmitz by passing a course and having less than 3 years of successfully coaching limited numbers of neophytes. Do your due diligence and research these folks’ backgrounds before blindly investing in them.
My favourite is the no foot no hook no bar no plate no pain no death no fear no hate no time no now no suffering no touch no loss no hand no sense no wound no waste no lust no fear no mind no greed no suffering no thought no hurt no hands to reach no knife no words no lie no cure no need no hate no will no speech no dream no sleep no suffering snatch.
Id rather just see olympic lifting. Arm wrestling is cool but we dont need videos of it. Unless you are actively arm wrestling why would you watch a video of it?? Boring. Zac please keep up the olympic videos, thats is much more important and will actually help people in there athletic endevors❤🙏
Hey Zack, I've been watching your videos for a while now and have to say that a lot of the content you create really inspires me to do better not only in training, but also in general. You just seem so genuinely nice and passionate about your work and sport. I do not have any background in oly lifting, but would love to get into it (mostly because of people like you). Do you have any advice for somoene like me? (I go to the gym regularly and also play rugby and do some rock climbing, so I'm a pretty active person)
I have unintentionally been doing no foot snatches for awhile now I guess from my years of powerlifting and thinking of keeping my feet glued to the ground for squat and DL.
How would you recommend working on catching in the bottom position? I have a descent bottom position but when I catch it seems like I can only power, pause, then basically just do an overhead squat. It’s almost like my legs have a mental block to receive weight in the bottoms position.
I find that when this happens to me I 1.) Put my feet wider apart, chill out and stay in a full squat while I play around with knee position and where my toes are pointing, until it feels secure 2.) Put knee wraps on /& tighten them if I am already wearing them, even if slightly uncomfortable they make my knees feel wayyy more secure in the bottom.
Def just doing no foot and slowing the barbell down as much as possible helped me. As the weight gets heavier and you realize you gotta generate more power, your feet will move, especially if it's narrower width
@@DARKEST_VANTAIVE done that for 3 years of hard powerlifting. Got my numbers to 462, 270, 500 pounds. I recently wanted to clean my programing do something new. I sent this video to my wife after she had our third kid. It didn't have the desired result, but she can outlift me now.
Quality comment
This man has me watching videos about exercises I’ll never do. Keep it up Zach!

@@theaccordian9377whats the problem with the technique. Be specific now.

Game changer for me. First time I really felt the pull under was with no feet

These videos are the best. I love this stuff. Gonna try this next snatch session.

Thanks my dude!
Fun fact : Giorgi Asanidze snatched 180kg no hook as a -85kg lifter…
French Olympian Cedric Plancon did a 140kg no hook power snatch too

Wow I was literally coming onto TH-cam to watch a telly snatch video before I snatch today and WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT!!
That is an awesome shirt!
I finally recovered from a spider bite and I'm about to go to the gym again I'm so exited
Good shit bud!!
I have unintentionally been doing no foot snatches for awhile now I guess from my years of powerlifting and thinking of keeping my feet glued to the ground for squat and DL.

could you make a video about olympic weight lifting with people who are have injuries?
great video!

Use tall snatches in your warm ups aswell, that’ll help teach you to pull yourself into the bottom

Was not expecting the Deus Ex reference. Excellent
Great vid
I've been doing a no foot clean just to make sure I get a thorough "2nd pull." But at times I still feel like I'm doing a pop and drop...
Hey thx for the tips! I've heard Lu got popped for EPO use is that true? (Sources : ITA)
Ay my man said it be shmellin guuuud
No footsies taught me more how to maximize even foot pressure more than any drill

Ngl, based on the title I was expecting Kegels and bridges 😮
beat me to it
Besides Olympic weight lifting, is there a point in doing a snatch compared to a clean and press?
Almost spit my coffee with the Deus Ex music hahaha
I got to get back at the snatch. I use to be able to OHSQ 225 for reps, felt more of a big dog doing that then sqauiting 4x4 45s for reps
What’s the most a 200 pounder can Power Snatch (snatch minus the squat portion)?
I started doing the no foot when friends would say I keep jumping backwards and that I shouldn’t be doing that… so I stopped jumping entirely.
I do no foot snatches even when I'm trying to do foot snatches, is that a problem?
My man if you haven’t already make a vid of you trying jiu jitsu
any specific advice on how to drop lower? I feel myself drop and I think it's below parallel but look at the video and it's only right at 90° :/
I've never snatched in my life but I'm watching, wish I had someone to teach me this shit IRL
No, keep your balls & stick to squats, deads, bench & pull ups. Done.
