Idea: How virtual machine files (e.g: (VirtualBox) .vdi .vmk) work. What can we change?
But I think FlyTech does stuff about modifying Windows files.
vmdk/vhd/vdi files are essentially just a "hard disk" in a file. It's like changing data on your main hard disk
.vdi files are disk image files. They aren't very interesting... You can even mount them in GNU/Linux
But... editing the memory space of a running VM may be interesting...

@@FlyTechVideos did you know you can create a vhd file that doesn't store contents but instead it points to a physical device on your computer? You can boot Linux that you have on disk while being in Windows on the same disk

The second question is something i can probably contribute to. There is a trojan, called "Vortlink", the first LNK trojan ever that used to open itself as "12345678.lnk" recursively. I don't know much but it seems to not work in recent versions of Windows. It may actually be something worth knowing.

Here's a tip: you can quickly open a file's properties by Alt-clicking it.

Windows 3.1 introduced Alt-Enter as the keyboard shortcut for Properties inside Program Manager. For whatever reason they didn’t implement it yet in version 3.0.

Here's another tip: When searching for something in the start-menu: Holding Ctrl + Shift and hitting enter will open the highlighted item as Administrator.

Windows breaking idea:
Replacing Windows registries. Like replace Windows XP and Windows 10's registry. The main thing is to try it with all combinations (NT kernel Systems), but make it short in the video.

Can we all appreciate this fly for how much he understands about the windows kernel and it’s built in applications, unfixable bugs or odd ones that need to be patched, showing examples of exploits tbh some of the more comedic content can still be useful information depending on how you see it.

I am a bit surprised this many people thought they were .ink files, I figured this out ages ago. I know it's confusing, but I didn't know it is THAT confusing :-)

I look forward to Part 2! Maybe you'll cover this, but one of the most annoying things about Windows shortcuts is the idiotic 255 character limit on the path (including command line parameters) when using the Explorer GUI. It's straightforward to get around, but still.

I’m curious what Microsoft Office does to make its weird shortcuts unmodifiable in some versions (2003, for instance.)
On a somewhat related note, I unveiled methods to force shortcuts to executables in the Documents menu in a couple vids if anyone still runs older Windows versions.

FlyTech Videos thanks! I’ve been trying to work around a weird issue that won’t let me mount my network drives in wsl (either version). I was hoping there would be a secret type of link that would magically trick Windows. I think it has something to do with the non-standard enterprise management software that I am stuck under.

Where Do you find the binary file Format Dokumentations? Ok, the link file ive found myself, but. Txt or. Jpg for example i haven't find it.

A question: Why am I not able to name a folder the same name of a file that has no file extension? Not sure if this can be answered but I was curious.
dont know much about this but my guess is that folders count as files on some very basic level, so they both take up the same namespace?? dont take my word for it.

@@FlyTechVideos no, there's some "special" shortcuts that don't have a standard path in the target. I think they instead internally reference a GUID.

Idea: the DOS command "type" works with every file, but folders. if you type in the command line:
C:\ type Windows
the command line returns:
access denied.
so, could you technically see how a folder is coded by gaining access to it via the type command?
A folder is an entry in the file table. Simply put, every file must have a folder as parent, and every folder must have a parent except the root. Folders are not really files but rather just references in the file table. (I really hope I didn't tell any nonsense)

Imagine the files organized like a tree. Root is first, and you have children which are either files or folders etc. and these folders aren't files, they're just for the tree so you can organize your tree nicely. The file nodes in the tree tell you where the actual data is. That's why you can move files on the disk without delay, because it just changes the position in the tree but the data is not moved on the disk

video idea: what if we have a user profile on a work group computer, but their account is on a different workgroup computer in a LAN. I got this working between two XP machines back in 2014 but it was very slow and is really designed to be used with a domain controller (this is called roaming profile) but I got it working between two local workgroup computers. Maybe you can do this between two win10/7 workgroup computers and it will be faster nowadays. you would need to set the profile path as \
emotePCname\documenets and settings\MyremoteUser
