Have you considered checking the price lists? All the prices are on the web pages as well and they are what you paid for. You were not cheated. Is it expensive? Well yes, but same as elsewhere.
We spoke to the campsite on the phone and price was different on the phone. Usually not enough signal to be cruising websites however it’s not the price itself we were bothered by, just why quote lower price on the phone…. Also the quality of the services were repulsive when you pay the price you should have adequate quality. Live and learn always read reviews
Yeah, been there riding on my motorcycle in the Triglav National Park more then once. Great area for riding. Slovenia is a great country and nice people.
Absolutely nice countryside in that area ( been coming there twice a year lately ) and sorry to hear about doubling the cost at the end, perhaps next time try to get a name of the person you negotiated to initially ( that might help ).Nice video and I love your comments.
The prices in camps in Slo take into account vehicles, so when you booked for 2 people they assumed it's one vehicle. They shouldnt have assumed, but you werent scammed, it was poor communication.
As I check kamp Špik prices for July and August time period, internet says, 15€ tent place and 20€ per person, plus turistic fee 2€ per person, plus 1,5€ check, so, you should pay 63€ according to price list. It was shurelly a "short" in communication.
Earlier this summer I went through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia. The road surfaces were brilliant. I honestly believe the U.K. has the crappiest maintained roads in the whole of Europe. Before I left the U.K. I had Mitas E07+ Enduro Trail tyres fitted, been brilliant on tarmac & Forrest roads. it's a shame because you didn't go 1 kilometer before the Predel pass to Mangartska sedlo, where it's only 15 km to the top and it's the highest and most beautiful paved road in Slovenia at 2050m.

Ask local people where to go. You missed road to Mangart.. this is highest road in Slovenia.. after you cross big Predel bridge. You come in 2050m in 15 min.. But i can feel you were annoyed because of everything.. Prefer talk about money and weather, like an old grandma. 😅@@ontheroadadventure
Wow !! What stunning scenery to be riding through, really makes me want to do a big road trip. It takes me ages to watch these videos because every time you pass a sign with a town name i have to pause it and go to Google maps to track the route 🤣. I'm definitely with you on parachuting mate, i would really struggle with chucking myself out of a perfectly good plane but i'm sure i would love it once i knew i was safe 🤣🤣.

I absolutely loved Slovenia when I went in 2016! As someone else has already said... beautiful country and lovely people. I was in the car when I went, but that didn't spoil the fun. I stayed just down the road from the Triglav National Park and drove a few of those roads in your video. The advantage of the car is you can do some proper hiking in that stunning countryside... and visit some of the fascinating WW1 sites. If I go back, it'll be on the bike though! Can't wait to see where you guys end up next! 😊👍
Oncoming cars flashing the lights could also be a warning of radar controlled speed checks! Slovenia used to be cheaper before the Euro currency was introduced in that country. Prices have been raised significantly since then.
13:00 I doubt these were parachuters, most probably they were paragliders. Paragliding is a very common sport in Slovenia. They climb a hill or a mountain and jump from there.
@@ontheroadadventure Most be, as I know quite a few paragliders and they enjoy it very much. However, there is much less adrenaline involved, as there is no freefall: the sport is about staying in the air for as long as possible, often many hours, covering as much distance, sometimes even 100s of kilometres, finding up-draughts to regain lost altitude and simply enjoying the scenery.
The scenery is mind blowing what a beautiful place! As for parachuting , it’s a fantastic thing to do. I used to climb out on the wing of a Cessna then push myself off ! Just brilliant!! Keep these videos coming! 👍
Manual work in summer: well, we go on the fields in the 4:30 till 10:00, then we move inside for some inside work. Especially if you have an AC. :) We don't come out till 18:00. It's just too hot. Kind of like siesta in Spain. ;) Also... closing all the shutters in daytime and open all the windows over the night.
Its great that your giving us all the news re costs etc . I stayed at a site only 10 days ago and they charged us 50 euro + 5 euro for electric hook up so that i could charge phones etc . Then 2 euro for a shower . 3 euro to leave our rubbish in the bins so we used the public bins outside the site . This was in France at a site near the west coast. The worst thing was that we had to unload the bike and then move it from the site and to the main car park . Some people had to park cars outside the site on the public road. Crap is not the word.
Been there Eva. 40° up through central spain. You are dehydrated if you feel that way and you have also lost body salts and you need to eat ready salted crisps and avoid coffee. Should be drinking every sips from a camel pack every 15 mins or more. Re uk roads, wef 2030 want us off the road and pay per mile next year. No private vehicle ownership by 2050 or sooner
Thank you for showing us our country from your perspective. Please send the video to camps as well, so they will educate to ask better questions, so to better serve next guests. I seek pricelist, ask them to email me the offer and try to pay in advance if I can, so no problems later. We have phones now it is easyer. Also I have 20W solar charger always hanged out somewhere, that slowly charges battery pack and than I have spare energy in case as yours. I do not visit camps in Slovenian as guest, but I asume some of them are just "fenced yards" without much effort to come close to guest. It is forbidden to camp in the wild, so now many try to live out from renting the land for camping. I would try to find "kmečki turizem" locations which are tourist farms which offers all the same and more. Are much more reliable and can help you as they actually live there and have all what one need. Good luck, come again, safe travel. 10x for effort with video.
Just rode back from Blagaj in Bosnia, we were heading for Turkey but when the mercury was hitting mid 40s we turned and headed for Austria for some sightseeing. Slovenia was nice and friendly people. Bosnia was another level lovely people nothing was too much trouble.
I think you two should say that you two have two vehicles. I think they understood one vehicle and two people when you arrived. And the two of you came with two vehicles, and that's how they charged you.
Not sure, I think it was definitely a communication problem no problem really, campsites are so pot luck we just had the grump as it was expensive and dirty and no power.
@@ontheroadadventure Yes, for sure. I'm camping myself, and I have to say that even cleanliness is relative. Even some camp users are real pigs. It is impractical for the cleaning lady to wash up after everyone. It also happened to me that I went to the toilet just after the lady cleaned the floor with a wet cloth. The floor was completely dirty behind me. A lot of people don't clean the toilet bowl after themselves because they paid and it's none of their business. It's just a matter of when and where you come across. The truth is that the further east you go, the cheaper the campsites will be. As far as electricity is concerned, I would comment like this... If there were thirty motorcyclists in the camp, they would need at least thirty sockets. Therefore, for a few euros more, you have your own, and you can still cook something on induction. Have a good time.
Wow beautiful! Well done for keeping going in that heat, never much fun when it's that hot on the bike. Watch out for getting dehydrated and heat exhaustion, can really affect your reactions and mental agility
I'm having to sit in my cubicle and enjoy these videos when my idiot boss isn't creeping around, but we'll be hitting the road on some tour scouting trips later this month. Enjoy the tour and stay safe. If you're ever coming through Germany on the A3 between Regensburg and Nuremberg, hit us up, there's lots of great backroad riding in the Oberpfalz and Bavarian National forest region that no tourists ever really visit. Jack and Steffi
Thank you for a fantastic insight of this amazing area. I have been thinking about doing this journey and this confirms that i will go here. No camping for me though. Great to see a couple really enjoying each others company too.
Just a thought when you travel bring a summer light weight armoured jacket with you. They pack down small you can bungee your main jacket to the back of the bike when not in use. I find a modular helmet helps I have it open when at lower speeds every opportunity riding through villages and anywhere at slow speed I open it at the first instance makes a real difference . Ride safe and enjoy all the best Michael AKA the Captain
I don't understand your continuous charging issues. Why can't you charge all your gear during the day on your bike? I can, I installed 4 usb charging points on my bike, two behind the ignition switch and two directly on the battery. I also have a couple of 1 to 4 charging cables so i can charge 10 things at the same time. I rode 6000 km through 9 countries last year in 4 weeks and never needed external power.
We have so much more due to youtube than the average moto camper, we are also powering Laptops etc for editing each night. To keep the show on the road we must have power and wifi
It's all about humidity...a lot of south Europe is under the influence from a South African wind, this gives stable weather but also hot temperatures with a lot of humidity. In Italy locals basically told me, it is 35 degrees, but with the humidity it feels like 45. As for campsites, try to plan, do your research via google, check out the reviews and choose accordingly. I did about 14 nights on different campsites and never went wrong. Enjoy the ride ✌
The way we travel means we can't plan very much in advance, we take each day as it comes, some days it is just better than others I guess. Mesh gear needed for our next Sumer tour I think!
@@ontheroadadventure I travelled exactly the same way and didn't plan or book anything in advance🤣 just take a coffee at 15.00 and take your time to search for a decent campsite, that's what I mean with planning. Safe journey's ✌🏻
Maybe a good idea to try to organise charging devices while riding. I have installed on my elderly bike two 12v sockets. With a double USB adapter in each I can run the sat nav charge my phone, charge my blue tooth helmet unit etc. Of course, you have cameras and things that I don't, but with a bit of ingenuity I would think it is possible to cover most of your requirements.
We charge a large power bank that we carry to do the basics but yes we require allot of power to do the videos, laptops, drone, cameras, audio equipment etc
Hi! I am from Slovenia. About prices of sleeping (freestyle rider here). Just came from Nordkapp (went through whole Scandinavia), did 9.518 kilometers in 11 days and 15 hours and i did not pay a cent for sleepover. When i did full Alps tour year ago, 4 countries/3.500 kilometers in 5 days, again i did not spent a cent on sleeping accommodations. When i think better, i only payed few times in last 28 years and even now felling that comes back to my mind is very very bad, does feel like being a traitor to my own believes :-) All in all, just stay free, sleep where ever you want to sleep, do not make noise, pick up your trash when going further the next day and that is it (also do use nature friendly hygiene products when going free style). Why i am writing this? By doing free style you simply avoid the stress. That is probably the most stressful situations, making sleeping arrangements, etc. Money is not the problem. But the felling of being chocked by all this tourist shit, having to deal with people who rent nature for money, well, this simply produces to much stress on a rider. Stay safe on the road and have a great trip! Cheers!
I like your way of thinking and agree with all you say. Our problem is we need electricity in order to charge all our gadgets for filming TH-cam. When you wild camp how do you choose your locations, will you put your tent on a farmers field for example?
@@ontheroadadventure Hi! All the gas stations in Europe, where they have bar area, have electricity sockets so you can charge your technical devices there for free (i also use power bank to avoid frequent stopping and time waist). And regarding the sleeping. Why sleep on someones else land if there is so much wilderness around you? I usually ride from 07:00-07:30 to lets say 19:00-19:30 (only at this trip through Scandinavia i was on bike from 16 to 18 hours a day). Than i start to look for a location to set my tent for a night. Usually somewhere near the water, so i can do my morning routine - hygiene, wash my clothes, towels, etc. - i dry them by having them on rear seat, they dry in no time :-) ) I do respect yours decision to use camps etc., but do try freestyle sometimes. Believe me, it feels like you are the pioneer of motor-traveling and the feeling is awesome, quite addictive if i may ad :-) Stay save on the road and have a great journey! Cheers!
Swings and roundabouts, team. Haven't camped for years, but maybe ask them to send a confirmation email of the price quoted on the phone. Can't argue with black and white. I have always found Slovenia to be really good value. But I do book in advance. Great that you show Warts and all. Ride safe. The sun's shining you're on bikes. Work is a million miles away. Life's good! 👍
Keeping it real Eva! There’s days when on tour when you’re just not feeling it!! Nevertheless constant touring is bloody tough so kudos to you both for your enthusiasm and determination.
Thanks so much, we have to remind ourselves of exactly this some days, weeks on end in the tent touring, filming and editing is hard work and it’s important to allow and recognise down days and know when to take a break. We have one planned in the near future for some R & R
Years ago I went to a wedding in Barcelona from midlands on my 2nd hand vfr800fi 1999 model. Did all my checks, fastest route there and back due to work /time off. Tyres were good brand but almost zero tread from New in the centre with deep side cuts. On the way back I felt the back moving around. Stopped and looked at tyres all the same view as before. Got home and went 10 miles to bike tryre shop. To my horror the steel belt was faintly showing in the centre. I was cruising at high speeds for hundreds of miles. Since then I timed the mileage of tyres and change. The tyres came with the bike and sides were perfect and zero tread in dead centre. I only buy good tyres bikes and cars, something I wont compromise on. With dehydration it’s about absorption of the fluid not consumption. My grandad who was in Burma in the war said to eat some sea salt granules before water and it allows the cells to absorb the fluids
Well, we are all getting high temperatures in all this region, this year, May and September would be the best time for moto traveling ( less expensive, less crowded and more pleasant temperature ).
It is possible its a language barrier thing or miscommunication but its happened twice in a row in Slovenia, Not the end of the world. We make these points to educate and advise more than anything, We were wrong in our belief that Slovenia would be a affordable place to camp, £50 for Glastonbury camping with two toilets the whole site, and no Power is not what we expected. Its pot luck with camping though, Sites don't need travellers to be happy, customers are replaced every 24 hours anyway in these popular areas...
I love your channel, nothing seems to faze either of you. You just take everything in your stride. I'd love to do what you are doing but at 73 I think I may be a tad old now. Never mind I can enjoy watching you two. Cheers.
I agree with you about the charging more than quoted on the phone it would leave a bad taste in the mouth for me as well. Why can’t people be upfront and honest. Really enjoying your videos especially Slovenia. Great work!
I'm surprised it hasn't happened to you earlier! Accommodation in this region is always charged per person! Imagine my American friends' surprise, pre internet days of course, when they found out that their 'bargain' hotel room in Ljubljana town center was not 60 euros per night! It was 60 euros *per person* per night! When booking over the phone, in particular with a non-native speaker, it's always best to be very clear: "there are two of us travelling with our motorbikes, and we share one tent together. How much do we have to pay per night? What about electricity? ..." Slovenes are pretty honest, and I very much doubt if these guys were trying to cheat you.
Another top quality video, with stunning scenery although Ewa doesn't look too healthy at the tyre place. We are being promised 3 days of high temps in the majority of England (Sat/Sun/Mon) so I've already washed the NC & the ZZR ready for a couple of day trips....
@@ontheroadadventure Hi guys, serious question: I am currently looking to part-ex the ZZR and have got the Africa Twin on my shortlist. Any thoughts welcomed about it. The ones I'm looking at are both 2021, one a geared bike, the other a DCT. Regards, Bib Boulder.
It hasn't been 15€ per tent in a long while... 10+ years probably. The fact that you think 15€ would be reasonable makes me wonder where in the developped parts of Europe one (well, two) can?
You’d be amazed how much camping varies, Portugal for example we were in the most amazing site, palm trees and parrots, pool etc and it was 12 Euro a night. At the opposite end is this one for example at £50. We have paid close to this at other locations in Europe too but usually they are clean and numbers limited.
@@ontheroadadventure there's no excuse for having dirty premises, but apart from that, 30€ per night for a tent of two is unfortunatelly actually on the cheap side for Slovenia, at least where I've stayed in the past. By the time they've charged you for the car, dog, electricity, whatever else they can think of, you're way above, and even the night itself is never under 30€ in my experience... The sudden influx of tourists over the past 10 years has pretty much ruined it for many of the locals who might not have the same budget as the wealthier travelers who come from abroad... so now not only can they not afford to go abroad themselves, many of them can't even afford to stay locally 😅💀 Poor kids of today, I cannot imagine growing up in a middle class family and in a surrounding that is so overpriced and tourism driven as Slovenia has become over past years...
That seems to happen Everywhere, Even in the uk, its cheaper to take a budget flight and Holiday to Spain or Portugal than it is to go to the coast for a week
Glad you found a good garage. Very friendly just what you need. Have good time. Eva I think maybe you should rest at midday for quite a few hours and drive when it's cooler. Take care. Once jumping out of plane is ok, but then you know what to expect so you don't do it again?
Shame about the camping charges. I have come across something similar in the UK, where a listed price is suddenly higher when you come to book on line. Supply and demand I guess. I would not be happy in that heat, but those mountains..... wow!
Its funny (and kinda sad) that foreign tourists appreciate our natural beauty sights, but we care only "far away lands". even with tiny country like Slovenia, we still dont know much about local culture, food and customs. sad, so so sad. glad to see at least foreigner enjoy our beautiful country.

(22:48) cheesy, It's a rule here in the USA) Florida anyway, 1 bathroom stall to 25 people, also a handy-cap private bathroom, and a baby station for diapers
If it was me and they quoted me the cost and then on arrival doubled the cost, I’d of 1 argued the point and two would have left and found somewhere else. In instances like this you should name and shame the sites and the people that you spoke to on the phone.

Wow, yes we tend to travel slow, we have no interest in being on the motorway, Everything is much closer here in Europe, your never more than 10 miles from a campsite of some sort
For instance, in Florida. There are a lot of state parks. But most of them don’t have camping. Here in Florida there are only I believe six KOA campgrounds within an 850 mile range and the majority of the back roads here are 55 to 60 miles an hour. I don’t like much going over 6263. I just never enjoyed riding fast.

Yes I think that is the case, we were just shocked as £50 for a campsite is expensive elsewhere but when you add on no electricity and dirty insufficient facilities you definitely feel robbed! No drama though these things are soon forgotten as soon as your back in the bike and moving on 👍
????? Almost everybody in Slovenia speak English. I'm almost 70 and I have no problem speaking English. I don't know where you are but stop talking about Slovenia in such negative way, please. If you have such bad attitude for your home country is better to be silent.
I had a feeling that weirdo hippy campsite would rip you off. I try to do what you do, pay for the first night up front and get a receipt. Never been a problem camping in Spain or France, except one rip Spanish campsite I arrived at late just north of Pamplona before heading over the Pyrenees into France. The next morning I EVENTUALLY got the price down they wanted from me as it was silly money. It was basically an RV site, but it was pretty late and the site full of screaming Spanish kids and barking dogs. But these Eastern countries it looks like you really have to be on your wits. Apart from the Croatian coast, the Balkans don't really interest me. Kotor further down the coast is spectacular and the Vrsic Pass back up in the Julian Alps in Slovenia has great views but the views you have already scene still beat it. Do you plan to ride the Grossglockner in Austria? This is another spectacular mountain road. The roads around Lake Garda are spectacular as well. Would be great if you could find another chapel with an organ to play. A man of many talents. You both need to get your nutrition sorted out ;@).
You’re not wrong! Eating on the road can be a challenge to get right, it’s fine for a few days but after weeks it starts to take it toll. Our plan is to change direction, we can’t take the amazing heat here and further south in peak summer
It’s not about the money it’s about value for money, such a poor overcrowded, unclean site should not command premium prices. The beauty of moto camping though is if you don’t like a place you just move on 👍

13:00 I doubt these were parachuters, most probably they were paragliders. Paragliding is a very common sport in Slovenia. They climb a hill or a mountain and jump from there.
They are braver than me! Must be an amazing feeling though
It does sound like a nice time once up and relaxed into it
The scenery is mind blowing what a beautiful place!
This explains why the streets are all so quiet when we rode through
Its great that your giving us all the news re costs etc .
That is outrageous! How do they get away with it?!
I'd rather just pay for a cheap hotel.
We have stopped and are stocking up on the vitamins, a rest and we should be good to go again
One of the very few channels with good music, as well as great video.
Thanks Alan, we think the music is as important as the image
Thanks for joining us on the road 🫡
Just rode back from Blagaj in Bosnia, we were heading for Turkey but when the mercury was hitting mid 40s we turned and headed for Austria for some sightseeing.
Slovenia was nice and friendly people.
Bosnia was another level lovely people nothing was too much trouble.
We have also changed direction at 40c, it’s just unbearable in bike kit
@ontheroadadventure even with full mesh gear still very uncomfortable.
We also stopped at that Spar on the roundabout for lunch.
Your not wrong there, some people appear to be animals when using facilities
Another awesome video, the scenery it just gets better ll the time! 👍👍
Slovenias views have not disappointed
Wow beautiful! Well done for keeping going in that heat, never much fun when it's that hot on the bike. Watch out for getting dehydrated and heat exhaustion, can really affect your reactions and mental agility
Thanks we have stopped off for some electrolytes etc to help us on our way
I'm having to sit in my cubicle and enjoy these videos when my idiot boss isn't creeping around, but we'll be hitting the road on some tour scouting trips later this month. Enjoy the tour and stay safe. If you're ever coming through Germany on the A3 between Regensburg and Nuremberg, hit us up, there's lots of great backroad riding in the Oberpfalz and Bavarian National forest region that no tourists ever really visit. The view at 21:19 as you entered the campsite is truly staggering.

Thank you for a fantastic insight of this amazing area. I have been thinking about doing this journey and this confirms that i will go here. No camping for me though. Great to see a couple really enjoying each others company too.
I think its a place you should visit for sure, the people were nice, even if some a little Different!
We will need to invest in a mesh jacket each soon I think you are right there 👍
I don't understand your continuous charging issues.
Ah yes that’s our level of planning! 👍
Cheers!
We do like the idea, im sure we will try one day...
Those roads look awesome 👍
They are! Lovely ☺️ place to ride
It’s only here it’s been a problem, I think tourism in these areas has boomed in recently years and they are taking full advantage of it
In Kobarid you passed the camp Lazar near the Soča river. We paid 35€ per night. 2 adults and a 5 years old kid. Up in Bovec is too expensive.
Knowledge is everything
Keeping it real Eva! There’s days when on tour when you’re just not feeling it!! Nevertheless constant touring is bloody tough so kudos to you both for your enthusiasm and determination.
Thanks so much, we have to remind ourselves of exactly this some days, weeks on end in the tent touring, filming and editing is hard work and it’s important to allow and recognise down days and know when to take a break. We have one planned in the near future for some R & R
Think I might head that way late Sept, what was the name of that place you got the tyres fitted? thanks.
Love the channel by the way.
It’s great here, nice people and good roads but expect camping costs to be more than you would think
Seasalt is a good one, not too much of it available on the road though but perhaps we should get some and make a small baggy of it 👍
Love watching you guys. We are in Slovenia on our KTM 990, it is hot!
Amazing, enjoy your trip guys. The 990 is a bit of a legend too!
That look like some gorgeous roads. I didn’t think Slovenia was a warm country i thought it would be cold 🥶
It is hot hot hot! 🥵
Well, we are all getting high temperatures in all this region, this year, May and September would be the best time for moto traveling ( less expensive, less crowded and more pleasant temperature ).
We have always been lucky touring in September 👍
Is this not just a miscommunication? The website tariff says €15 for pitch and then €20 per person so not trying to hide anything?
Cheers.
You’re never too old, go for it. Travel at a pace and with a level of comfort that suits you. You’ll never regret going on a trip
I agree with you about the charging more than quoted on the phone it would leave a bad taste in the mouth for me as well. Why can’t people be upfront and honest. Really enjoying your videos especially Slovenia.
Great work!
Thanks Brian, the dishonesty seems to be a theme when calling campsites here but other than that the scenery in Slovenia is amazing
. Two same mistakes in two different campsites tell you are the problem, not they.
I tell you what bud, the heat is brutal in the bikes, we are so not used to it or prepared for it
@@ontheroadadventure Hi guys, serious question: I am currently looking to part-ex the ZZR and have got the Africa Twin on my shortlist.
Yes the garage were excellent 👌 We are struggling with the heat and plan to change our course so it doesn’t get worse

Shame about the camping charges. I have come across something similar in the UK, where a listed price is suddenly higher when you come to book on line. Supply and demand I guess. I would not be happy in that heat, but those mountains..... wow!
The heat is mega at times, we changed our direction at 40c and are heading back up!

Seems to have got out of hand the last few years, like most other things
always seems like your rides are 150klm, but no more than 200 klm a day. You would not be able to do that here. (I say in KOA campgrounds) , But then again. I don't do highways. the routes I follow, I have to do on average, 300+ miles each day to get to the next KOA. (In some spots) up to 500 a day)..
How come camping is so scarce there? Is it not popular?

Great video! shame about the dishonesty as it happened twice it must be Slovenian trait to watch out for.
It does seem that way… shame because the scenery and sandwiches are spectacular!
If you want for free, you should stay at home.
It’s not about the money it’s about value for money, such a poor overcrowded, unclean site should not command premium prices. The beauty of moto camping though is if you don’t like a place you just move on 👍
Here's the solution: if they try to charge you double, pay only the half!
A good plan
