People forget wresting isn't just wrestling, it's *entertainment*. Jey has entertained people for years. Not just with his brother but he was wrestling weekly on Roman's behalf as his right hand man. He had arguably the best wrestling character arch of all time in the Bloodline! Of course people are going to be invested in him. And beyond the adult fans, he's a hero to any kid who grew up watching the Bloodline.
For me the thing with Jey is the inring moveset is missing something. I’d assume after years of tagging he hasn’t developed enough of a single wrestlers mindset or moveset. He always seems like he’s a move away from tagging in Jimmy.
I didn't really hear Jey criticism much until after WrestleMania, crowd loves him every single week & like it or not crowd loves the Yeet. I hope Jey gets a singles title run at some point soon YEET
The biggest and simplest reason that Jey is so over, is because he's clearly having fun. The crowd sees him having tons of fun and they have tons of fun with him.
Lmao why is it that people think its just about your work in the ring, honestly if you're a half decent worker but a killer promo and story teller you'll go much much further than being great in the ring. Its 50/50 in pro wrestling maybe even 40% wrestling 60% and Jey is amazing at the Promo and Story telling Uce has more charisma and charm in his pinkie than 99%of the AEW roster has.
Y'all ending a string of really good points like this with needless AEW shit-talk is just so sleazy & weird. Reeks of insecurity. Have a little more faith in yourself & what you have to say. Tearing down other peoples' thing severely undercuts your credibility.

Yes yes yes yesyesyesyesyes YES!!!! I would love to see Ethan Page reunite with Josh Alexander and reform The North and go on a dominant run as NXT Tag Team Champions
I like @Dylanlange3267 question because My older brother and I sorta have this debate regularly (I’m 48 years old). I would consider myself part of the IWC because I’m more plugged in to wrestling outside of what’s shown on TV. My brother who has been watching wrestling almost as long as me is more of a casual because is he knows very little outside of what is on TV and what I find is that we view wrestling very differently and I’m a bit more critical of things than he is. But conversely when new wrestlers pop up or he is not aware of certain wrestling history (like Danielson and Nigel’s match, he never watch ROH so he is like who cares and why are people so hype for this), either it takes him a while to have interest or he doesn’t have any at all. I think that is where the disconnect comes in.
Why do people love Jey Uso? He's half of one of the greatest tag teams of the modern era. New Day Vs The Usos was incredibly good. When people debate the best tag teams in the world currently, it is New Day, FTR, Young Bucks, and The Usos. The Usos are tag team Hall of Fame worthy. People want to cheer Jey cause they want to see how far he goes given the right story line.
"I defy you to find anybody in the history of televised professional wrestling with a greater character performance." *Hangman Page has entered the chat*
Believe it or not, I am a Cornette listener, mainly bc I like listening to his stories about 80's and 90's wrestling. But otherwise, the man is a lunatic.
That answer on Jey Uso makes sense. He really hasn’t been my cup of tea even though I have nothing to hate on him for. For me personally, the more ppl clamor for him and sing his praises it drives me further away. Almost like 2015-2019 Roman, at least for me.
I have a remix of the first take. The reason they're match at WrestleMania was terrible is because even though they are amazing tag wrestlers, Jimmy isn't a good singles, and Jey isn't a GREAT one.
@@kylegibbs108 I didn't say star, I said wrestler. Jey is absolutely a great singles star. And you're right about Jimmy. We don't know how well he would overall do. I'm specifically talking between the ropes.
I mean it does though like I get it story is very important but I don't want to watch khali Vs omos for 20 minutes and neither do you am I guessing it does matter, but it's not the best all and end all but most top guys (especially in WWE) are the complete package and Jey just isn't, I've never walked away from a singles match he's involved in blown away by Jey TBH and to me that hurts him when I see him in the ring when I see him in there with people I consider on a similar mic level, but miles above him in ting
@@Ryin-yc6zh my larger point is that these people are saying Jey doesn't deserve his push because he "can't wrestle." But like... Even if he can't (which he can), he's still, factually, one of the most over guys in the company in spite of it.
It was all downhill for Solo when they changed him from dangerous enforcer to calculating villian who dresses like The Weekend. Maybe Jacob totally sabotaged that by being amazing in that role
Since they're not doing anything with AJ Styles, with his history with the brand in its prime; what about him taking over TNA and leading their roster against WWE? It would give him a gimmick to run with, only have to wrestle part time while being on TV fairly constantly, and would give the TNA workers an established legend to work off of. He could manage wrestlers, bring them in to challenge for titles, help build feuds, and occasionally work in main events, even if that doesn't necessarily lead to title wins. Also, furthering NXT/TNA stories by getting over young up and comers coming out of TNA , helping their credibility. Just an idea, but would love to hear your/peoples thoughts...
It may be too long to wait, but if they can properly build a TNA vs WWE war games have team TNA go over . I know people want the bloodline wargames, but it's falling flat
I think maybe the hate comes from the fact that bloodline Jey’s character work was SO good that people desperately want that from modern day Jey, and the YEET stuff just doesn’t deliver that. I see it as kind of similar to why Braun stopped being as over when he stopped flipping trucks and stuff. He lost the spark of what really made the character shine.
Hot take: I like Solo more now than with the OG Bloodline. In fact, I actually like the new BL better (Tonga Loa gotta get it together tho). The OG Bloodline minus Roman and Solo were a bunch of goofy misfits that had to be reeled in every now and then. Nothing wrong with that at all, it was actually entertaining as hell. Solo now is more of a tactical guy than the hired muscle, and obviously Jacob took his place but has more space to be a personality. G.O.D. are more ruthless than the Usos and in kayfabe are less likely to stumble on each other. I don't see them letting a Sami Zayn infiltrate their circle, tho I predict they might form an alliance with Orton.
Yeah, your rant on Jey did not sell him. The dude is garbage in the ring, and he has decent character work. But to put his work over taker? Character wise? Terrible take
See ok sure everything Jey did before the singles run was phenomenal. The character work, the acting, the promos, the matches, everything in that period was excellent. I absolutely adored Jey at that point. Then he had mid matches, stopped doing any interesting character work, stopped telling interesting stories, stopped cutting interesting promos with any substances, and became a catchphrase. The catchphrase is not why he’s over, but it has become all he is as a character. Plus I just haven’t been impressed by him as a singles wrestler when he’s not facing Roman (the priest match was fun). All time great tag guy in ring, a fine singles guy in ring. I’ve gone from thinking he could maybe be the guy to beat Roman to not wanting to watch what he’s doing on weekly TV. I still just don’t get it
Don't have a reddit account but have you noticed the lady screaming from top of her lungs in the NXT crowd? She's there almost every week and drives me crazy.
god forbid someone is bringing energy and charisma and SWAGGGG to pro wrestling. i think it’s the same criticism swerve gets sometimes, i think white fans are not used to representations of black culture and it makes them uncomfortable if i’m being honest.
I love Swerve he's absolutely the man but to me Jey just cringey Yeet died a death in like 2018 I really don't need to have it revived in 2024 honestly I think he's missing that singles experience in the ring and he just feels like such a mid card goof and then he beats the more serious people on the roster with potential and I'm just like but why did the he need to be the guy Jey beat
Not respecting Jey is a massive red flag. He is a better character than 90% of the wrestling world at large. He works well enough to be a top guy. His matches have more investment than most on the roster. Harping on work rate is so dumb. Go watch Rampage or Collision for all work, no story.
Maybe it's cause I'm such a big LA Knight fan but I notice every time you mention him you mention how old he is. Age doesn't matter in wrestling and he is really good. It's unfair how you always say he will never get to the world championship level. He can and I have faith that one day he will.
The age thing is a bit tongue in cheek tbh. He presents as not even gen x but boomer by saying things like Keister. It’s part of his appeal. I love LA Knight. But not everyone makes sense to carry the world title and you can kind of see how HHH approaches that scene and it just doesn’t feel like LA Knight fits there. Hope I’m wrong 🤷♂️
Great historian, great onscreen character. But any time he's had a management role in wrestling, business has gone up after he left. He's another Heyman, not a good business mind.
Nah I also don't get it the the whole "Push Jay Movement", regular wrestler, has one catch phrase, not physical impressive. He is the type of guy that if he'd ever get the belt, in the next week a Lesnar will come and F5 him out of it. Look at Cody, Roman, Walter, he will never have that type of aura, he does not look like a guy that inspires fear/respect.
You are dead right. I only ever watched the bloodline angle when zayn and the usos were the ones! They made it interesting, now the bloodline version 2.0 (oops sorry Matt hardy) is bland and there is no real character, it's just jacob fatu destroys everyone while everyone focuses on cody and roman as solo is boring as a bargain hunt show.
@@Notben10-s3pThat has nothing to do with his comment. Also Tony’s doing the same mistakes Eric did. Nigel Vs Danielson on free tv? No build. That’s horrible.
Jey delivered a great character performance but that Jey and current Jey aren’t the same guy that’s why I’m not over into Yeet Jey at the moment. Once he starts working and actual character again that’s beyond Yeet man I’ll probably hop back on the “Main Event” train.
I think Jey Uso is so popular because of the theme song and, more importantly, because this is the closest that nerds will ever feel being on-beat to music. But I really like your explanation too.
Cornette has never been successful in a management position, he's an incredible historian and a brilliant character, but he was never a great booker. Smokey mountain went out of business When he was on the WWF and WCW creative teams it was two of the worst periods from a business sense. He ran fans away from ROH OVW was the closest he got to success, but even then the people they trained all had to be repackaged on the main roster.
Id argue sami was a better character than jey. You said every jey arc was great but Him vs jimmy made no sense at all, and produced a stinker of a match at mania.
I liked jey in the bloodline ... i dont like main event jey. He's a one note mid card clown crowd pleaser. Literally taking a page out of Koko B.Ware to the point that he owes him royalties. All he's missing is a parrot.
Jey is a tricky one. He has personality and can talk, but he's been stuck with this awful gimmick and catchphrases for a while. When he's serious he's good. He's also still so sloppy and awkward in ring.
@AliSubhi-xs4rn If he can't throw a punch and still managed to get the tag team belts 15 something times and be as over as he is then... I guess he doesn't need to learn does he?
@@wrequiem1727 nobody said he needed to. He's over because he has a personality and people have been invested in the bloodline storyline for three years or whatever
Jey Uso is not a main eventer. Guys like Jey, Kofi, Gable, Ziggler, etc. are good wrestlers that the crowd latches onto because they appreciate how long they've been around, but also because they just want to see things shaken up and be less predictable. Kofi's title reign was bad, but he's great in a team. Jey is better in a team or faction as well. He's hot at the moment, but he's not a guy whose name makes people buy tickets. They're happy to see him, but he's just not that great. His current popularity is like a slightly elevated Virgil or Damien Sandow coming out from under an abusive situation, but he has more caché due to his tenure. If people think there's nowhere to go with Cody's title run, where would a Jey Uso win go other than right back into another Bloodline angle?

The company is great and Tony is clearly a fan of professional wrestling obviously but yeah, he’s definitely out of touch when it comes to booking which I don’t get because some of the stuff is really great but others it’s like what the hell are you doing?! Anyway yeah the match itself I’m so excited for just because of all the reasons you said the fact that Nigel actually got to come back! In the back of my mind, I always wondered where they actually building to the match because of the way that he does commentary against Brian, but I put it out of my head because I didn’t think he would ever be able to be cleared again so it’s an awesome thing to see it actually happening!
The kids and teenagers loves the Yeet but the adults loves the serious Jay
I agree about Jey's story and acting but he REALLY needs more moves.
I love Jey Uso... as a tag team wrestler. His solo run just ain't yeetin' it for me.
Because he isn't good to be a solo wrestler
People forget wresting isn't just wrestling, it's *entertainment*. Jey has entertained people for years. Not just with his brother but he was wrestling weekly on Roman's behalf as his right hand man. He had arguably the best wrestling character arch of all time in the Bloodline! Of course people are going to be invested in him. And beyond the adult fans, he's a hero to any kid who grew up watching the Bloodline.
best thumbnail ever
For me the thing with Jey is the inring moveset is missing something. I’d assume after years of tagging he hasn’t developed enough of a single wrestlers mindset or moveset. He always seems like he’s a move away from tagging in Jimmy.
I didn't really hear Jey criticism much until after WrestleMania, crowd loves him every single week & like it or not crowd loves the Yeet. I hope Jey gets a singles title run at some point soon YEET
These newer fans just don’t understand how much of a machine Akira towza was in the cruiserweight classic 🔥
Joe Hendry beating Oba Femi for the north american title would blow the roof off full sail
Tearing down other peoples' thing severely undercuts your credibility.
thank you for defending Jey. my gf started watching wrestling because of me. that was during the bloodline storyline SHE wants to watch raw on her own just for Jey now. on Mondays when I'm not home she still tunes in just for Jey. she is LOVING Jhea.
10000%
Why do people love Jey Uso? He's half of one of the greatest tag teams of the modern era. New Day Vs The Usos was incredibly good. When people debate the best tag teams in the world currently, it is New Day, FTR, Young Bucks, and The Usos. The Usos are tag team Hall of Fame worthy. People want to cheer Jey cause they want to see how far he goes given the right story line.
"I defy you to find anybody in the history of televised professional wrestling with a greater character performance."
*Hangman Page has entered the chat*
We’re lucky to have lived during this era of character.
?????? Page f****** sucks.
@@JACKXK Save the hot takes for Steve
@@TacomaStreetcarDisasterits not a hot take. The only good thing he's done is that phenomenal hangman n omega story
@@deathmauler181 Crazy take. His arc during this Swerve feud has been a master class.
Believe it or not, I am a Cornette listener, mainly bc I like listening to his stories about 80's and 90's wrestling. But otherwise, the man is a lunatic.
Hahaahah
That answer on Jey Uso makes sense. He really hasn’t been my cup of tea even though I have nothing to hate on him for. For me personally, the more ppl clamor for him and sing his praises it drives me further away. Almost like 2015-2019 Roman, at least for me.
Nobody was clamouring for or praising 2015-19 roman at all.
@@StarLeo_ the driving me away part I mean
@@dshotcha187 Seems like you looking for a reason to stop watching
I have a remix of the first take. The reason they're match at WrestleMania was terrible is because even though they are amazing tag wrestlers, Jimmy isn't a good singles, and Jey isn't a GREAT one.
How can you possibly say that Jimmy isn’t a good singles star when he hasn’t really gotten a chance to be one.
@@kylegibbs108 I didn't say star, I said wrestler. Jey is absolutely a great singles star. And you're right about Jimmy. We don't know how well he would overall do. I'm specifically talking between the ropes.
It truly baffles me that in 2024 people are still acting as if work rate matters.
I mean it does though like I get it story is very important but I don't want to watch khali Vs omos for 20 minutes and neither do you am I guessing it does matter, but it's not the best all and end all but most top guys (especially in WWE) are the complete package and Jey just isn't, I've never walked away from a singles match he's involved in blown away by Jey TBH and to me that hurts him when I see him in the ring when I see him in there with people I consider on a similar mic level, but miles above him in ting
rather watch a match with no story than no work rate. without work rate you just have a sitcom.
I KNOW Steve named someone after that “unless”🤣🤣🤣
Terrible take
Hahahah did you use undertaker as your example? Dude had two facial expressions🤣🤣🤣🤣🥴
@@WrestleJuiceCan’t beat the aura of the Undertaker. Didn’t need to say anything
I still just don’t get it
I haven’t seen anything about people not liking Akira Tozawa
The Jey Uso hate is stupid, Jey has had some of the MOST character development in the past 4 years of WWE along with Roman, Cody, Drew and Sami.
This is the prove that the marks don't know what wrestling is, if Jey is over has he is it means that he is a great worker
I don't listen to most of the old wrestling guys opinions like Meltzer, Cornette, Russo, Konnan, etc.
I think I'm better off not listening to them.
Styles Clash, absolutely no way.
Pray for Jimmy 🙏🏻
As far as character work over a long period of time. Hangman....Adam....Page. Jeys a close 2nd.
Don't have a reddit account but have you noticed the lady screaming from top of her lungs in the NXT crowd? She's there almost every week and drives me crazy.
Alright Emmy worthy? Steve Relax, Jey aint no Bryan Cranston
Love me some Sun Damaged John Cena content!
god forbid someone is bringing energy and charisma and SWAGGGG to pro wrestling. i think it’s the same criticism swerve gets sometimes, i think white fans are not used to representations of black culture and it makes them uncomfortable if i’m being honest.
Stop GLAZING like..... THOSE OTHER GUYSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I enjoy Cornette when it comes to old-school content but I wonder if AEW didn't exist if & how he would still be relevant.
Tbh, Hangman has done much better character work over the past few years than Jey Uso
If you’re just starting to watch now and didn’t see the beginning of the Bloodline story I can see why you don’t like Jey.
I mean I was watching at the start of Bloodline I can see the appeal of Jey but to me he just as a solo guy has come off as really cringe
Sure, the people love Jey, but he’s still not a main event level guy just like Solo. I love Jey Uso, but how many times does he lost on a PPV/PLE?
I’d take Cornette over a Scott d’more, but not over Dave meltzer
Not respecting Jey is a massive red flag. He is a better character than 90% of the wrestling world at large. He works well enough to be a top guy. His matches have more investment than most on the roster. Harping on work rate is so dumb. Go watch Rampage or Collision for all work, no story.
Jimmy started yeet not jey
What? Chants >> Yeet Chants
When did liking someone become glazing smh the things these big dummies come up with today
Friendo
Cornette is a great historian but it's so hard to enjoy him since he's so hateful.
We all know why he edited out the end of the stinkface answer 😂
Can I Get A Little Bit of YEEEEEEEEEEET
You are dead right. I only ever watched the bloodline angle when zayn and the usos were the ones!
They made it interesting, now the bloodline version 2.0 (oops sorry Matt hardy) is bland and there is no real character, it's just jacob fatu destroys everyone while everyone focuses on cody and roman as solo is boring as a bargain hunt show.
14:51 my dream finisher is the ever dangerous Burning Hammer 🔥🔥🔥
Nigel vs Danielson is only a dream match for 35 year olds who watched ROH when they were were 20. For the majority of fans, it means nothing.
Eric bischoff pfp, same dude that ran warrior and hogan back😭
@@Notben10-s3pwhat does that have to do with anything tho 😅

@@Notben10-s3pThat has nothing to do with his comment.
Also Tony’s doing the same mistakes Eric did. Nigel Vs Danielson on free tv? No build. That’s horrible.
As someone who didn’t watch ROH and has never seen a McGuiness/Danielson match, I’d consider it a dream match due to the mythos surrounding it
TNA win, Moose vs Oba Femi
WE all want to see Jey beat Bron for the belt?
Haha I think not
Jim Cornette is a meanspirited crank. Meltzer at least pretends to be professional.
Single greatest character performance in wrestling history? Jey USO!? Really😑
YEET.
Jey and Jimmy were better 10 years ago
Jey delivered a great character performance but that Jey and current Jey aren’t the same guy that’s why I’m not over into Yeet Jey at the moment. Once he starts working and actual character again that’s beyond Yeet man I’ll probably hop back on the “Main Event” train.
Listen to Beck’s Midnight Vultures and listen to Beck’s Sea Change. That’s the two Jeys. Same guy different place in life.

I think Jey Uso is so popular because of the theme song and, more importantly, because this is the closest that nerds will ever feel being on-beat to music.
But I really like your explanation too.
Cornette has never been successful in a management position, he's an incredible historian and a brilliant character, but he was never a great booker.
Smokey mountain went out of business
When he was on the WWF and WCW creative teams it was two of the worst periods from a business sense.
He ran fans away from ROH
OVW was the closest he got to success, but even then the people they trained all had to be repackaged on the main roster.
Id argue sami was a better character than jey.
You said every jey arc was great but Him vs jimmy made no sense at all, and produced a stinker of a match at mania.
I cringe every time I see someone take an Alabama Slam.
Wrestling fans gotta stop using words they don't understand.
His gimmick isn't bad and his in ring work is great
@@kinnikuboneman he can't throw a punch dude
@AliSubhi-xs4rn If he can't throw a punch and still managed to get the tag team belts 15 something times and be as over as he is then... I guess he doesn't need to learn does he?
@@wrequiem1727 nobody said he needed to. He's over because he has a personality and people have been invested in the bloodline storyline for three years or whatever
People love his gimmick its only people online bitching about it, it doesn't have to be some major character to be over as fuck
He's cringe
Dave Meltzer is nothing but a leech on the wrestling business. The fact that you don't understand that half of what Jim says is him just riffing and having fun says more about you than it does Jim.
🙄
I don't like Dave, like...at all.
But Steve not enjoying something " its not him its you!"
Dude Jim is very abrasive and isn't for everyone.
" you have to like him or you're the problem." Esk logic.
Steve pretty much said " I like orange juice ,he's selling apple juice " but the cult around
Jim cannot fathom that he's too angry for some.
Also his constant dives into politics and the shit he's said on that is psychotic. Which
