You have to learn to be at peace with yourself and grateful for what you have. Find a few pieces you absolutely love snd hold onto those and treat them with care. Learn mindfulness and slow down. Living a fast live always doing things can lead to impulsivity. Get outside

I’m sharing my personal journey of how I overcame my shopping habits, along with practical tips to help you break the cycle of compulsive buying. I'd say timing is perfect? 😅

Okay, first... that outfit is so perfect for you and you look SO pretty!! And second, thank you for this video. I'm also an influencer. My niche is alternative fashion and mermaid tails, and both are so expensive and take up way too much space. And it's true, you think "well, I'll write it off," and then you're stuck with an army of clothing and tails that are custom made to your body and you can't get rid of them. 😮‍💨 I love my job, but I feel like I'm drowning in stuff and I HATE that feeling. Thank you for the inspiration. 🖤

I started creating a closet inventory that I update as I go to see and bring down the cost per wear and to appreciate and use what I already have. Seeing the amount I spent on stuff apart from the space it's taking up is very sobering and enough to make me stop shopping for luxuries/non-necessities for a very long time.
Thank you for this video. Great content.

I am a compulsive shopper (in recovery!). To add to the excellent points you made, I also put my wardrobe on an app, and instead of scrolling on shopping apps, I scrolled my wardrobe and put outfits together. Also, when tempted to buy something, I check on the app to see do I already have something similar, it helps curb the impulse.

I stopped shopping because the quality of clothing is soooo bad now. I prefer thrifting about 3-4 time's a year for quality clothing.

Same here. I just kept getting disappointment after disappointment so I started looking for good quality clothes on eBay and have found some gems.

Agree! The quality of clothing is so disappointing generally now. Thrifting is a great alternative. Love that approach!

I went though this what they now call 'no buy challenge' years ago, during my high school years, because I noticed I was spending and spending but the joy disappeated quickly every time.
After recognizing this pattern, I said to myself I won't be buying anything for three years.
When I achieved this goal, I was 19.
And so, right after that, because I didn't know what clothes suited me - and what clothes to buy - I went straight to gain knowledge about it from an image consultant, who explained to me what suited my body type and the colors and all of that.
I took that as my basis and I started carefully purchasing again taking into account my lifestyle.
Gradually I understood what garments would complement me the best and now I have a healthy relationship with shopping.
I concede myself something every now and then, which we call statement pieces, but since I know myself inside out I can take a leap of faith and having a shopping adventure without it turning dysfuncional.

I love how you turned a no-buy challenge into a deeper understanding of what works for you and developed a mindful approach to shopping. It’s amazing how transformative this process can be. Thank you for sharing-it’s such a great example of balance and self-awareness!

This is definitely a turn around for you. I remember a few style videos you did in the past. One was you having a style consultation done and the other was you defending fast fashion. I too have a problem with buying too much of a lot of things. With clothes I still have clothes with tags on them. Recently I donated those that don't fit to a homeless shelter or Thredup. Thanks for sharing your process!

Hi Tia. I've been following you since you came in Italy (on and off). I'm not a person of fashion or clothes at all but in your video i've noticed some mechanism that in the past worked inside of me too. We are what we are, we are not the cheap (or expensive) garbage that we buy

I love the advice not to shop for an emotion and deal it according ur space. Digitalizing the whole closet makes sense to see what you own and avoid impulsive purchase. Very useful video, thx a lot!

I used to buy a lot of unnecessary low cost make up when I was a student. It was a rough time for me and even just going out to buy cheap stuff made me feel better for few hours. It was also around 2014/2016 and makeup used to be more structured, you felt you need more products. But one day I realized I had lot of bad quality stuff I never used, and all together the cost was important for a student with low income like I was. So I decided to throw everything away and I set myself some rules: 1 item per type of product, no doubles, no palettes but only single eyeshadows I choose (so I realized that I actually need no more then 8 shades), never buy new stuff unless the old one is finished or expired, buy only things that you like to use, even in makeup don't follow trends you don't like or are not made for your skin type (I never liked to countour, glass skin looks bad on me).
This way I can invest in fewer better products and I am having fun again with makeup. I keep buying regularly because I do finish what I have and I change what I don't every 2 years or so because they expire, but I don't feel guilty anymore because I feel very conscious of what I do. I think now I spend around 100€/year which I think It's pretty fair for a fullface with good products.

Your story really resonates! It's incredible how setting those rules helped you regain control and find joy in your passion again. I love your approach of quality over quantity-it’s empowering. Thank you for sharing your journey-it’s relatable and inspiring!

If you want shop for an item, just look at something you have already that is similar that you used or not used yet and there is your shopping.
Continue this process as though you closet or storage is a shop.
If you want to get rid of something that is not so worn out and that is still usable put it in away for future shopping.
That way you are try spending less money and you can later wean yourself off of the real outside shopping.

I would recommend to track your spending for one year and calculate how much money is in your closet . Sometimes a shock can heal you. 😂 it helped me to spend less than half of the amount this year.

You know better than others than Marketing just induces that toxic habit intentionally and specifically to the younger population groups.
It's very hard to break free from that at a young age though, so congrats.

@@misstiataylor_ I truly hope that, because we have to trigger that change now especially for the good of younger generations like yours. We tried but we've been crushed by previous generations' excesses and abuses, you have to help us, because now we've been getting old. 😅

yeah. The aggressive marketing to look younger and always put together is so real. This culture hates aging for some reason when it's a beautiful thing and will happen to you eventually. Live a little

Grazie.
