I'm Molly, a typical sushi, makeup, and fashion loving millennial girl who just so happens to be blind! I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa at just 4 years old and began public speaking at age 5. I started just doing motivational speaking, but now I make videos and even model! Even though I can’t see, I know that there are bright spots in everything we face. Let’s find them together. 💕

Getting rid of the clothes I don’t wear or that don’t fit feels SO good, especially knowing they can go to someone who will love them. Sometimes getting rid of things can be hard, we have weird emotional attachments to having “things” but once it’s gone, I promise you won’t miss it! How often do you clean out your closet?

Hey Molly I HOPE YOU SEE THIS!!!!!!!!! IF you got the energy and/or time PLEASE consider selling your unwanted clothes instead of donating them! You can donate the money you get fromit instead, only 10-20% of clothes donated to shelters in the US are used the rest end up in landfileds!!!!!!!!! So if you want your cloaths to get a longer life and be used longer consiider that option! It´s better for the shelters who need funds, better for the women who can get more help and resources and better for the planetsince the cloths will be loved by someone else for years to come :).

I don't really ever clean out my entire closet. Every once in a while, I'll notice I don't wear something and don't really want it anymore, so I'll either sell it or donate it! Even if you aren't cleaning out a bunch of stuff - I would say its pretty normal to gain or lose weight and need to do a clean out of stuff that simply does not fit. Also stuff gets torn or stained or things like tights get holes. I live in a small apartment - I need to get rid of anything that doesn't fit or is damaged because there's no space to keep extra stuff. Obviously Molly's cleanout is a lot bigger but that's because of her job - I still think it's pretty normal to go through your stuff every so often and get rid of things you can't or don't wear.

I reorganise and clean out my closet at least once per year. My style is been shifting lately, as I get older, so the clean outs are getting bigger as I slowly get rid of ok’d clothes I don’t wear anymore.
I went from a more vintage style (including some rockabilly, which I never wear at all anymore) to now a more historical style. I’m also slowly removing all garments with polyester, as I replace them with natural fibres garments that I’ve sewn myself. The goal is to have a closet that is at least 90% garments I’ve seen myself, all from natural fibres.
    It’s a slow process, but it’s going.

Hi Molly! I just wanted to say a big big thank you for learning us so much about how it is to be blind. I love to watch you because of your personality and to be honest I never thought I’ll have the opportunity to help a blind person. But guess what? I live in Poland, In Cracow, I was on my way home when I saw a blind girl struggling with crossing the road at central station in Cracow. She had a cane, and I think it is hard to get a guide dog in Poland (but I’m not sure - never seen a polish person with guide dog tho). Thanks to you I was educated enough to know that sometimes it can be scary when blind persons don’t see someone who touches them or that you can get confused if someone is actually talking to you. I decided to start with asking her if she needed help, and while I already was talking I gently touched her just for a second so she knew I was talking to her. She aksed if I could help her to get to buss „130”. I asked her if she wants to grab my elbow or if she prefer something else, and she said that she wants me just to tell her and desrcibe by words how she should go and she asked me to go by her side - so did I. What it later turned out she is a blind polish paralymic athlete (in sprinting), she is called „Joanna Mazur”. Such amazing woman! She also won dancing with the stars in Poland!
So once again I would like to say big thank you for educating sighted people about how blind people feel in different situations! If you can, let me know if you read this - would be so happy to know that you know that you educated me! (Also sorry for my english) 😂

I really only clean my closet when I move or during a major season change (summer to winter and vice versa). I'm a college student, so beginning of the school year, I pack what I actually think I will wear along with cold weather clothes in case I dont make it home before the cold weather sets in. I live on a farm, so I do have to keep a lot of not nice clothes for chore clothes, but I don't take most with me because I don't really need them at school. And then when I come home for winter break, I bring pretty much everything back with me, pack away the most summery stuff since spring break is early enough that I can pick them back up before it gets that hot. And during winter break, I do an actual clean out of my closet and get rid of any clothes that really don't fit or that I probably won't ever wear again. And then early summer, I just pack away what I won't need for months (winter clothes) and then do whatever I need for the summer. Like this summer, I took an internship on a ranch, so I brought a lot of chore clothes and a handful of nicer things for when I'm not working

Over the last few years with moving to a new place with different weather, plus getting a better paying job, I've cleaned out my closet quite a few times. I've slowly rebuilt my wardrobe with better quality items, items that fit my new taste, and things that fit me better. Most of my wardrobe was leftover from high school 10 years ago, so suffice to say it was time to start getting new things and tossing the old. My first clean out saw me donate several bags, sell several more, and toss quite a bit that was worn to shreds.

Growing up I did a clean out when I switched out my summer and winter clothes. This last year, now being in my 30s, I've gone more of a minimalist route and all my clothes, summer and winter, fit in my dresser/closet without switching things out so I haven't been doing regular clean outs. Just when I realize I don't wear something I pull it out.
Live your best life now. Period. If it doesn't fit now don't keep it. Love who you are now.
The style change happened when I turned 31, this last year. Total shift.

When I get like this (which is very often), I try to keep a trash bag in my closet so hubby and I can start putting things in it as we are trying to find clothes and realize we just don't wear it for some reason. Also, anytime we get a few tops or bottoms (or new socks/undies) we go through and get rid of a couple of similar items within that first week of buying them or right before we go shopping. This helps it to be less overwhelming or exhausting. I'm lazy but love the feeling of purging. Once it becomes a habit, it is an amazing feeling to encounter almost solely loved/used/needed items all over the house.
Once we have a bag filled, we put it out in a bag or box for our neighbors/passerbys to get first dibs. We've had sooooo many thank us the next time they run into us...which adds motivation to continue to do so. However, if they aren't picked up within a week, we donate. I have only had to once since using this method tho!

I do a closet clear out maybe once a year, or once every couple of years (I have a small wardrobe from Ikea and one under-bed drawer, so not a lot of space), and I would love to clear out even more stuff that I don't wear or doesn't fit but I keep thinking, oh, I'm working out again and eating well, I'll be able to fit into this in a couple of months - but then something goes wrong and I gain the weight back (or gain way more like I did over the winter). Going through my closet and trying on clothes that are too small or just don't look good on my body shape now is just depressing. I donate all my unwanted items so someone else can have the joy of wearing it! I only have this season's clothes out the rest gets packed away. This system works very well for me.
