There are hundreds of technical inaccuracies, but, the characters are great and the paths they follow, makes for some of the best TV going. I just watched it through for the third time and yeah, desoldering the BIOS, there's no chance IBM would have done that, U33 has always been socketed in the 5150's I've seen. But, hey, makes for a complicated, convoluted story to build characters and stops the scene from being boring.

How do you know it was for the sake of politics? Did you talk to the creators of the show? I guess we should go back to the days when there were no depictions of gay people on TV, people of color were typecast as servants or had bit roles and heterosexual couples slept in separate beds.
This took place literally in a decade where gays were dying by the hundreds of thousands to HIV and being made fun of for it; it makes total sense why even a fairly amoral man would hate that.

Perfect casting, cinematography, dialogue, lead characters, and nailing the period theme. Then HACF comes along. Lighting strikes again. An interesting time period (the 80s), and the computer race. They absolutely nailed it. Joe, equal to Tony Soprano and Don Draper. Then somewhere in the second season Joe becomes marginalized, and the character loses what makes him special. What made Dallas, Sopranos and Mad Men great is they never changed who JR, Tony or Don was. HACF was the perfect show and they screwed it up.
