Lucky Penny Thoughts: I was looking forward to using this set. I did get a little concerned seeing all of the parts and mixes. I had to take my time and do each section prior to making the first drink. They should have put that drink last! I'm glad I made every drink option that they showed in the instructions. I had this set when I was a kid, probably about 7 years old. The complexity gave it that actual potions class feel, which really made it that much more fun for me. I wish they still made this!

Before we even get into watching this video. I remember making this as a kid and it was horrible. Polyjuice potion is supposed to taste nasty.

I owned one of these as a kid. Got it for Christmas when I was 10 years old. I remember the taste being similar to peaches (whatever concoction I made).
Man, this mix was so involved! I had the first potion set, with the self-stirring "magical" mixing spoon. That one was involved, too if memory serves. The "leeches" were in that one, too

I LOVE HARRY POTTER! In fact I am taking a class in college where we are going to study Harry Potter through gender and religion and then we get to go to London for 10 days and explore all the Harry Potter things in London. XD
That is so cool! I don't think we are going to Harry Potter world sadly though. But we are going to have Harry Potter Tour at Oxford. And other things that my professor hasn't told me about yet. I am so excited though. I have never been out of the USA.

Omg, this set is so involved...I think it would have been cool (but very extra) if this kit had come with little bottles/jars for you to put your little mixes in so you could really immerse yourself in the wizarding world.
Can you use other drink mixes and sugars plus ingredients? I hate that once you use all the included powders you're left with nothing but a set piece. I like to get the maximum amount out of the sets I get.

I still remember watching the commercials for this toy, back when I was five. When I was either unable to find or afford it, the next best thing I could do was mix dirt and water inside a film canister with a stick, which (at least, I cannot recall doing otherwise) I never drank either. Plus, the book said it resembles mud and smells awful anyway, so there. :)
