  • Today I show how I mixed the LoFi Beat for my last video using the FL Studio Akai Fire controller. This is to give a flavour of some simple mixing techniques that can be used to give a Lofi vibe.
This was mixed on the fly while producing the beat and in this video I talk about why I did certain things and also how it could have been improved.

Thanks for touching on how the low end is often sucked out a bit in lofi. I've been making some lofi tracks and it is a very easy hole to fall into wwhen you have a hip hop drum pattern to let the low end ride super hard. Saturate it and dial it back so it sits in line and 'gels' with everything else.

Top Tip for anybody who uses high pass on all their instruments:
Instead of putting your eq on every individual track, create a pre-master bus with a high pass preset on it and link all your sounds to that so it hits that before the master. You’ll probably notice it sounds a little better as you don’t have lots of plugins creating artefacts and doesn’t use as much cpu
