We are not needing an ethnic and cultural govt we don't have all of this nonsense overseas. We need economical growth and investment which will not happen under mk and eff. What does that even mean? People always like to use words that sound nice but do not really mean anything.
Independent to whom? To the government? To the opposition? He has to come from a political party and thus he will never be independent ´.
What you really want is a speaker whom you can TRUST. Trust to do the right thing in his capacity as a speaker. A person who will not be absolute loyal to his party but rather to the constitution.
Who cares if that person comes from the ANC. I am definitely not a fan of the ANC but they do have some very good ethical people. That being said these people have been sidelined. Taking somebody from the DA will cause all kinds of unjustified havoc. Sadly DA will have to back down from the blackmail.
I have no idea how many good people IFP has but think the best solution would be a person from this party. I would even like to see them in a minority government with the ANC. The DA should support this government.

In my opinion, the ANC's proposal for a GNU is basically a stalling tactic - it's a way for them to buy some extra time while they figure out which way they actually want to go. Because they know very well that a true government of national unity in South Africa is literally impossible. One side will inevitably end up being the opposition of the whole arrangement.

Hi Sizwe from your number1 fan! Now dont laugh because remember I am learning directly from you lol. The DA mentioning the title deed implementation, I was listening to an interview sorry cannot remember which one wherein it was stated that there has been a huge failiure regarding basically 90% of the RDP houses our people are living in but have never been given their title deed to their property. Do you maybe think the DA wants this sorted out asap for those people? I also saw a video clip on the DA facebook page where some sweet beautiful people had the biggest smiles on their faces as their original title deed was handed to them (which should have been done the day they were presented with their home!). The land issue I hear Gayton from PA vehemently opposed to land without compensation as he says the country would collapse not foreign investment businesses will leave etc etc etc. He states YES there are enormous amounts of land farmers do not utilise so he said that land should be taken and the owner must be compensated at market value. I also believe (in my limited knowledge) that buildings in the city centres that are not maintained and possibly owners have not paid rates in 20 years or have just left he country should be legally attached renovated by government and pass over ownership to our people who desperately need homes.I am rambling on here but even here in Durban so many in the hundreds of buildings are just standing empty why can govt not take possession of those for flats for young married couples single moms or even our sweet gogos. Wonderful podcast again and thanks for reading my two cents worth I hope I am not completely daft and hope I brought a smile to your face. Off now to by my hoodie 🙂

It's completely different to '94. Yes the criteria was 10% then, but all of the top 3 agreed on constitutional democracy as the form of government.
Now with the advent of anti-constitutionalism one of the criteria is that the parties involved support and defend the constitution. Obviously that is a big deal, the conflict that arises when a party or parties are opposed to the constitution is essentially unresolvable. Still there is the invitation for parties to compromise and join the GNU. It's a choice, it's not enforced isolation as you imply.
IT IS a GNU, because it represents the people who are for the constitution. You're simply providing a definition that suits you, then applying that in an attempt to discredit it. Admittedly your fabrication of these definitions are very articulate, but they remain fabrications.
You're math is wrong. If the ANC brings 40% of the national vote into a GNU with the other parties that achieved 10%+ then they will have 52% of cabinet. Obviously you would want the EFF to be included there but they didn't get 10% and as you say, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
The ANC is it's own party and doesn't need the anyone to tell it what to do. Thanks though. The ANC's role has been to open the door and set the terms of how other parties can work with it. It is obviously going to work with parties that can provide enough votes to make it work, it is not required bend over backwards for sub 10% parties.
You are right about this being a big political opportunity for the EFF and it was very astute for them to announce early against the GNU. It gives them credibility in the event of failure and allows to shirk the responsibility of nation building. I feel they are well suited to the role of disrupter and dissenter, so they are playing to their strengths. Kudos.
Your proposal for multi-sphere coalitions is untenable. It exchanges stability for a seat at the table for the EFF. It makes sense only to the EFF. You are right, no one in their right mind would table such a proposition.
Constituted parliament has nothing to do with this election or any other. Parliament was constituted with the Electoral Act. It was constituted to contain 400 members. This never has to happen again but if it is ever revised it must be done with a revision and must be constituted with between 350 and 400 members.

Unfortunately, many people are waiting for someone to come and rescue them from their troubles, without taking action to help themselves. They are hoping for handouts without valid reasons to be recipients.
Sure, we need to help the disadvantaged, but a significant proportion of people also need jobs and must learn to be less materialistic and have more realistic financial aspirations. When will people wake up? Nothing in life is free; there's always a cost. I choose to maintain my dignity.

The Multi-Party Coalition has a better chance of some success than the EFF has in Limpopo and the MK in Kwa-Zulu Natal as the latter two are incapable of running any government without stealing all the money. The few bad apples within the ANC can now leave and maybe the ANC can get rid of all it's bad apples as there are a few good guys that can make a positive contribution.

The ANC and DA have more than 60% of the vote alone they have a majority they dont need EFF, the EFF declined did not even make 10% , a small party wanting to be the loudest in the room.
