    So I have found my hammock from what I have seen. I saw this in other videos and have been watching each. No question this is what I want in a hammock. I actually thought of trying to make a design like this years ago but never gave myself enough credit to try and start making them. Good on you for knocking it out of the park.

    Ive been preparing for today for several weeks, we ordered our tents just last Friday, and I got mine on the next Tuesday (which is today), But I have been watching all of the Haven Tent videos I can find and so when my package got here today I was worse than a kid at Christmas and seeing that I'm a 51 yr old female that must have been a sight, Rob is still waiting for his XL Tent, it was on backorder, sorry for him (nanner nanner) I have my Haven set up literally in my living room (don't ask how) But I have watched so many videos set up was super FAST and I sat down then laid back and just said over and over, oh honey, oh my gosh, ohhhh this is WOW !!!! I am elated beyond description because this year I can enjoy our annual trip and here is why... we have a yearly mountain lake fishing family camping trip that we all backpack a few miles into and last year I was just wounded !! A relative had a hammock and I started thinking after waking up both mornings feeling like I had been beaten with baseball bats at my shoulders and my hips that maybe a hammock is what I needed but I'm a tummy sleeper so the standard string and sheet hammock was not guna work for me and I knew that so I started my search and I found two top contenders the Haven won out over the A1 for two reasons, 1. two available sizes, I'm smaller but my other half is quite a bit taller and broad shouldered, and 2. Price. The Bonus is that we Support the "Shop Locally" movement and Derek has the BEST customer service. He reached out to us almost immediately when we placed our order to ask if we wanted both the tents to ship at the same time or if we wanted to receive mine right away ? Obviously the kid in me opted to get mine ASAP and I am so very HAPPY !!! Thank You Derek we will send you some pics from our Mid July trip when we get back. I am so appreciative because I know I will WANT to continue to make these trips every year now knowing I have a way to be comfortable, warm, and safe and most of all I will ENJOY this trip, You gave that to me, Thank You so very much !!!

    This honestly looks like one of the greatest shelter/sleep set ups I’ve ever seen. I absolutely love the comfort of hammock camping but sometimes there’s no real suitable trees around to hang or the weather is so bad and windy that you’d honestly feel a bit safer in a tent so to see that not only is the material durable and reinforced as all Hell (looked at some reviews) but that you have the option to convert it to a tent or bivy with either trekking poles or a couple of beefy sticks/branches, I’m hooked. I can’t wait to pick one of these up once I get back to work. I hope you all are staying healthy and safe during these trying times. What an awesome product and customer service!

    I LOVE this idea! I'll meet definitely be getting one, once I'm back to work! I have slept in a hammock outside and in, for the last 7+ years and love it. It's the most comfortable rest I could ask for. Now you come along with the Haven and I may just be as happy as I was when I found hammocks! Thank You for the Haven, I'm greatly looking forward to having one of my own soon!

    A really cool option would be a truck bed set up accessory that either worked in the holes of the truck bed (set up 2) or that could be attached to the hitch with extender that went out to support tent. Be better than a over priced rooftop tent.

    Better than other Bridge hammocks, because it hangs OFF the ridgeline and so it's more stable. Other bridge hammocks end up being easy to tip over, just like an overly tight gathered-end hammock.
    I wish it was sold without the Rain Fly, because it can not be effectively used in porch mode (too narrow, at least one side needed to be at twice as long). To provide a comfortable storm shelter, and most people end up buying a separate tarp.
    At 400€ for a hammock, pad, mosquito net and rain fly it isn't outrageous for a US-made product, but it is unfortunately WAY above most people's budget here in Europe, at least excluding the top countries like switzerland, Luxembourg, etc. We're spending 200€ max with decathlon stuff. I'd need to work a whole month to pay for a Haven, and that's before expenses ;-;

    Another recommendation, a drip line on each of the carabiners so that any water that runs down the tree straps will drip to the ground and not continue into the hammock. It can be something as easy as a bit of cord (I use a short piece of zing it braided rope on the drip rings on my hammock).

    • @HavenTents
      @HavenTents  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Richard, in testing we have seen that the integrated dripline (running onto the rainfly) works well in most situations. For serious rain we'd still recommend a dripline before the carabiners. Thanks for the comment!

    it seems to be a great idea sleeping off the ground and lay flat. Only thing I feel a little bit lacking is the width size: 23 inches only. I wish it could be at least 25 inches because your arms might get pressured or slightly claustrophobic while you are moving left/right.

    Snacks do not belong in your sleeping quarters if you are a wilderness enthusiast. I spent a career in trails and wilderness management in MT and WY and never wanted my digs to become a bear snack bar, or even a pack rat snack bar. Thank you Derek! I used mine for the first time last week and I loved it. I made a few mistakes picking trees because I took a friend that was using a tent so we had to choose a good spot for HIM. I am not going to miss having to break out a level and a broom and do an engineering survey to find a good spot for a tent. Any way is was great. I already made some changes for people that want to pack light. I left the bug net, and stuff sacks at home. I bought a pair of light weight carabiners and a roll of lighter guy lines. I knocked a pound out of the set up for $25. I am 6' 1" and 240 pounds and had no issues. First time in 15 years, I slept on my back all night without pain.

    I recieved mine this morning, within the delay indicated on the website.
    I didn't want to stuff the spreader bars and the stakes with the rest of the hammock and risk damaging the fabric during transport ;
    the problem solved itself by using the large green bag the optional whoopie sling came with.
    I put the poles, carabeeners and loops all together in this bag. It adds a bit of volume, but there is no more metal rubbing against the fabric while I'm carrying the hammock.

    Anyone who lives somewhere with mosquitoes will not appreciate the fact that they didn't do double zippers on the mosquito net. There is only one zipper on either side of the nets so you have to open it all the way up. I spent the first night in mine last night, and I had to grab something off the ground underneath my hammock. I had to open half the bug screen up just to get to what I needed and I let in about 30 mosquitoes in the meantime. On any of my Hennessy style hammocks, they are double zippered which allows you to unzip a small portion to reach out and get anything off the ground or outside the hammock. Serious failure right off to get go. It seems like their only concern was the ability to remove the bug screen. Also, with a bit of movement flipping back and forth from your stomach or side, the bug screen zipper will start to work its way down opening a gap. Gnats, no-see ums, and mosquitoes became a problem from that as well. There is a good chance that my brand new hammock will be sold shortly. I waited a long time to buy one of these, very disappointing.

    Snacks in bear country should not be in your hammock!!
    As an aside, I spent many nights in mosquito and black fly territory. My rule of thumb is in bed 1/2 hour before sunset and getting up 1/2 hour after sunrise. I avoided ever getting malaria in this way while travelling in the Amazon jungle . No malaria here but it sure beats the bites of the mites.

    • @HavenTents

      Hello, 3000hh is on the higher end for backpacking rainflys and tents. I have only heard of 10,000 hh being used for tent floors on non-backpacking tents. With the Haven being primarily used above ground we didn't feel the need to use a heavier material for the floor.
      As we grow our company and product line we hope to develop a canvas 'glamping' hammock. With weight not being an issue, the canvas would have a higher HH rating.

    This video is absolutely useless. Those are the most basic concepts. How about some actual detail. Do the spreader bars go above the triangle pieces of cloth or below the triangle pieces of cloth? How do you deflate the air mattress if it’s got a deflation stop involved is there a strategy to this? What’s this flag for? Is it extra? Is it important? It really would have been nice to have any amount of instruction coming with this $400 product. Useless.
