  • The Outdoor Research Bug Bivy, is it the perfect summer shelter?

    What do you think of this? Better than a standard bivy for summer camps?

      @@Robert-cd5zr I've got the Lixada one, both the mesh and solid version and I get on with it OK, it is pretty tight though as you said! I've sold this one now as I just don't get on with clamshell designs.

    Thx for the good review … it is what it is…. A lightweight bug bivy . I appreciated you showing / providing the pack size …thx from the US

    This would be amazing as a lightweight setup. Just get a lightweight tarp and tie it to trees. As long as the tarp is close enough to the ground you won’t get wet at all so the sides don’t need to be high. This is genius

      I've since sold it, you can get them fairly cheap used. You tempted to get one?

    Great under a tarp but pack is nearly as big as a normal bivy Alpkit in mind not army !
    Another item worth having !!!
    Cheers

      I've got the Outdoor Research Helium Bivy arriving soon, will be interesting to compare that to it in weight and size. As you say, a normal bivy offers a lot more flexibility as you don't need a tarp. With this one you can skip the tarp if you know it is warm and dry... But here in the UK that's not a given!

    Extended the tie outs and peg it out to the pegs used for keeping the tarp up

      Nice. I've since sold this in favour of a roomier Bivy.

      If I was battling midges in Scotland I'd pack two of them based on some of the videos I've seen!

    Ideal for very lazy bee keepers !!! Or if you have a single skin tent with no bug mesh !!!

    If youre thinking of getting more into tarp camping, Have you seen the DD Superlight A frame mesh tent?

      @@TheWalkingKev Do u feel suffocated in it? I saw one negative reply that said u feel suffocated in it and need to open zipper

    • @TheWalkingKev
      @TheWalkingKev  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@tzenty I don't feel suffocated in this kind of thing, but I don't like the clamshell opening. I prefer this setup because zip opens the length of it, although I appreciate you need to have poles or trees to pitch it. th-cam.com/video/eXzuThYEDLA/w-d-xo.html
