    Thank you for posting this. It's very nice to hear the Mexican Anthem alongside the American Anthem, like the stations in Buffalo and Detroit do with the American and Canadian Anthems together.

    So this is what XETV's current sign-on looks like in context--they jump straight into it after a quick news promo as part of a station break. The sign-on itself is very nicely done with the Mexican and U.S. flags proudly waving to their respective national anthems. One of the best such sign-ons I've ever seen. Too bad you don't see them on our side of the border anymore. :(

      Actually KTLA and KCBS in Los Angeles do the sign-on national anthem at 3 minutes before 4am weekdays.

    @newstarcadefan Yes it is. It's "super required" by Mexican federal law, under the Law on the National Coat of Arms, Flag and Anthem. Every radio and TV station in Mexico must play the national anthem at sign-on and sign-off, traditionally 6AM and midnight. That same law also requires XETV to air the US anthem immediately afterward (interesting) because of its "foreign" audience. Airing the US anthem within the states has always been voluntary, never required by law (also interesting).

    If this is a U.S. station, why does it have a license from Mexico's government?

      It's actually a Mexican station that transmits from Tijuana. Hence the X in XETV. In the US, we claim the radio signals K and W. (Ex: KGET WIFL)

    @richartrod Yes that is true...though in Mexico, the national anthem there is super required on all tv stations in Mexico.

      But if they broadcast to a neighboring country, they should be required to play the neighboring country’s anthem as well. They never were required to play it.

      morris m Actually the transmittor is located in Tijuana. If they don't broadcast the anthem from Mexico, they could have had their Mexican license to broadcast revoked.

    • @joshdznyc
      @joshdznyc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@erensalyer9705 They actually became traitors to their American audience in San Diego by eventually ceasing to play the American Anthem following the Mexican anthem during the late CW years. Why did they stop playing the American Anthem. If you are serving San Diego and Tijuana, you play both anthems regardless of license city.
