    I own both, swap them amongst a few 2H guitars I have. Throbaks are a bit smoother and they compress in a very nice way. Duncans are not as bright, but are a bit more raw and aggressive. Throbak neck has a bit more sizzle to it, not as dark as the Duncan. I've played a few PAF loaded vintage Gibsons, the Throbak is closer to the real deal, but the Duncan is no slouch.

    Would love to hear the Ants vs the KX 115 PAFs.

    Using Bowers & Wilkins DM602S3 monitors and both sounds great, both do sound different so if you like the Throbaks at double the price then go for it. I have both (DT102 and Ants) and I prefer the Ants.

    The Throbaks sound closer to the Shaws in my Heritage 80-Elite...

    I put a set of Antiquities in my L/P without reservations . I put the $$ saved by not buying the Throbaks toward a brown Princeton ....

    区别很明显啊,sle的音头更圆润,而Antiqutity的边缘毛刺更多更火辣。我更喜欢Antiqutity...性价比没得说~~

    In one mediocre guitarist’s very humble opinion, I would say they’re different. I wouldn’t necessarily say that one was better than the other and I’m of the opinion that speaks volumes toward whether the ThroBaks are worth the cost. At very least in your hands sir the Duncans sound every bit as good (in some cases better) than the ThroBaks.

      Thank you for the kind words. They are both very good. It is also up to the guitar how good a set can or can’t be. And also, if you have good gear from beginning to end of the chain, then just one piece of said gear... like pickups, pedal, etc... makes less of an impact. “It all matters” but the more things you fill in intentionally, i find the less weight they all carry! Thanks for watching! Hope you subscribe! I have a lot of these shootouts! CheerS!

      A agree completely, but they barely know what a guitar is. It's hard to tell the difference when you are drunk and talking.

      I don’t tweak guitar for the audience. I
      Enjoy hearing the difference and when I feel like my efforts have resulted in being dialed inc I play better and more inspired. The audience may or may not hear that difference, but it keeps me interested in my musical adventures.

    Both sound great! I am listening on JBL monitors and relative to each other the Throbak's sound slightly, just slightly sterile compared to the Antiquities.. But that could possibly be a youtube/recording anomaly.

      After further listening, the slight difference (sterility of the Throbaks) I hear may be mitigated by simply adjusting the pickup height of the Throbaks. However, I would not be surprised if in the same room, the difference may not be apparent.

    • @VisualGuy
      @VisualGuy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can adjust a lots of the pickups to taste. I left the height close to the same and adjust poles to my liking at that time, but relatively the same. These are different magnets, with similar winds. The throbaks compress naturally more and want transition into harmonic feedback with less gain/volume. Lots to listen for.
