Jotego CPS-1 and CPS-2 cores were the best thing ever to happen to MiSTer.
Definitely what got me on board, and there is so much more.
Neo Geo is the core that sells the MiSTer.
@@NerdENerd everyone likely has their favourite core, and/or what brought them over to the MiSTer. For you it's Neo-Geo, for me it was CPS2, for others it could be anything else that's available.
Thank you for this interview, and thanks to Jotego for all of his great work!
Many thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Thank you, Jotego!
One of my favourite TH-camrs interviewing one of my favourite devs - chef’s kiss.
Another amazing guest, you are killing it Cherry!
Oh my goodness, you got the legend on!!
Now that you're here, there are multiple legends 😃
@@PixelCherryNinja 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
José, please take all the time you want to develop your arcade cores. Don’t ever allow anyone to make this stressful, lest you’ll burn out. Love your work! ❤🔥
The man, the myth, the legend
Thank you both for this interview! So from what I heard in terms of CPS3 we will probably have MARS version released first, because that team, as we heard from pram0d, are not that much concerned about cycle accuracy or decapping the chips for reverse engineering them. He said he does not think it is necessary, so they will probably just translate MAME/FBNeo code to verilog and that's it, we will have less accurate FPGA-Emulated version of this system. That's unfortunate.
That doesn’t sound too fun :( do you think that’s something that can be updated via firmware?
i was hoping Jotego would do the same for MiSTer as a kind of bandaid, so that CPS3 can be played in FPGA (albeit with inferior accuracy). the MAME interpretation is at least decent enough and has been played extensively in Fightcade tournaments and on rasp pi setups. i think this approach would be appreciated by most to at least get something in FPGA thats playable; while the remaining reverse engineered code is added piece-by-piece.
im sure its more complicated than that, but the likely timeline for a CPS3 core is years away.
at this point, getting a rasp pi 4/retroarch setup with 1 frame of runahead is as good as were gonna get until 2025 when we see a CPS3 core in FPGA
Thank you for this one, Cherry. Going forward I think you should ask your guests to record their audio locally and send it to you afterwards. It would be a valuable fallback in case of bad audio quality on the call...
We usually do that, and did in this case.
@@PixelCherryNinja OK. Shame about Jotegos choppy audio then. But thank you for doing this interview, naturally.
Thanks for the Interview! Always fascinating to hear from those making it possible 👍 Interesting that MARS was not brought up but do appreciate the inclusion of the Pocket.
Thanks for watching 👍
Good job @PixelCherryNinja ✔
And thank you @Jotego 🙏
Great insight into what is going on... Keep up the good work @Jotego!! 👍
Thanks Philai, I managed to get your question in.
Great interview so far! Could we have timestamps? I plan to listen to the whole thing. But it's very useful to have a reference point of where something especially interesting or important is mentioned.
Thanks for the feedback, timestamps are time consuming, and I don't have the time to do them. If you'd like to compile them, I can add them to the description, so it can be useful to others.
Finally was able to listen. Great interview 👍
Thanks, appreciate you listening and the feedback 👍

Thank you 🙏
The GOAT
Great interview
Many thanks
Great interview, shame there was no mention of his thoughts on the MarsFPGA project
Thanks
Yeah, that was surprising.
I think he means to say he's a genius not only an electrical engineer LOL
I wonder if Jotego would be interested in adapting the PSX Core for NAMCO SYSTEM 12 Arcade Hardware. Worth it for Tekken Tag Tournament and Soul Calibur on MiSTer. Would love to see a Game Gear 2P core too.
Love jotego 🥂 fpga goat
Didn’t really get an answer on PGM - seems that’s a great target that brings along several games in one shot. Similar to neogeo, cps1,2 etc
Jotego did say, he does not like to say dates, as it piles the pressure on, especially when unforeseen problems arise.
There's a lot in the pipeline, so things will happen in due time.
Do keep in mind that CPS3 won the Patreon pole against PGM. So likely it's still some time away.
It ain’t easy - I’m writing something I wanted to release a few weeks ago, best not to set any expectations cuz I’ve learned how the tiniest things can hold it up
@@ScandalUK remember to hook your bro with it, when you do have something 😜
i had a feeling JT was going to regret doing the neo geo pocket even analog is having trouble with it
Someone had to take it on. It was really only down to who was up for the challenge.
Damn… no words bout the IGS PGM 😂
Did he mention an ETA for Neo Geo Pocket?
He did speak about the core, yes.
Which game is that at around minute 36, the side scroll shooter that you collect keys? looks like contra
Midnight resistance 🥂
thank you!@@thegreatjonzini
Oh I see Midnight Resistance is only available in the mister cores and not the pocket ones, or I just can't find it
Any reason why you didn't ask about MARSFPGA?
Like I said in the beginning time was limited, so we couldn't get all the questions in.
