  • Trying out the Perma-Sharp Super Blades for the first time. I saw Nick Shaves do a review on them on his TH-cam channel so I thought I'd try them out. Great price, $9.00 for 80 blades with free shipping. They are made in Russia by proctor and gamble. Also using the Anne Bonny shave soap from Dr. Jon's, and the Brut Attitude aftershave.
    Pre-shave - Proraso
    Razor - Merkur 34C
    Blade - Perma Sharp Super
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Shave soap - Anne Bonny
    Aftershave - Brut Attitude.

    *It is so AWESOME to see wet shaving, making a comeback throughout society.*
    *In a time where everything is as non-traditional & modern as possible, it's so good to see this "hobby" making a comeback.*
    *The Permasharp Supers are my FAVORITE blades.*

    Perma-Sharp originally was manufactured in Turkey, by Permatik Celik Sanayi. Gillette bought the company and later moved production to the Astra factory in the Czech Republic and then sold the Astra factory (now Czech Blades) and consolidated production of Astra and Perma-Sharp blades to the Petersburg Products International factory in St. Petersburg.

    Thank you for the video Ken, you have a very calm and peaceful nature to your videos :) The Merkur 34C has become my new and lifetime daily razor, I love this razor! The more I look at the detail and design of it, as well as the more I shave with it, the more I begin to appreciate it. It truly is the workhorse of the industry haha. Thank you so much :)

    You made that look easy. I'm new to wet shaving and I tried one Perma Sharp so far. Parts of my face resembled cube steak afterward. I'll try again later to get the technique down pat but first I have to work up the nerve to do it.

    I also tried the Perma-Sharp blades on the recommendation of Nick Shaves and they've become one of my go to blades along with Astra SPs. Very sharp, very smooth and very good.

      Thanks for watching Keith, I have had good luck with the Perma-Sharps too. I just tried the Supermax Super Platinums and they were fantastic too.👍👍👍

    Never seen packs of 80 blades, very interesting. As I understand it, these blades are made in the same factory as my favorite Astra Platinum in green packaging. Merker 34c a great gift, I think this is the best mild razor for everyday use.

    • @kensurfs
      @kensurfs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually bought several packs that totaled 80.

And Oakland Athletics ! Can't wait till they come to Anaheim! Carney Lansford! Rickey Henderson! Jason Giambi! Hometown boy from West Covina! We're some of my favorites.. To badbbaseball isn't what it used to be.. Man do i miss Lee Smith, Bobby Thigpen, Mike Scott and Nolan Ryan

    I'm planning on ordering a Dr. Jon's shave soap and was wondering which you prefer between Hex and Anne Bonny. And thanks for mentioning the Rams situation. I can't believe you guys might go from having no NFL team for the last 20 years to having 2 teams right off the bat!

    • @kensurfs
      @kensurfs  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both are good, but I prefer the Anne Bonny. I saw them working on the new stadium when I went to that concert last month. It going to take up all of the old Hollywood Park Racetrack

    Hey Ken. I just recently started using the Perma-Sharp per Nick's recommendation. I also got it on Ebay and it took a few weeks. Good blade as far as I can tell. Q: Have you ever used the Rapira Super Stainless blade? I love those blades (very smooth) but nobody seems to mention them on TH-cam. Happy Birthday belated. Chris in N.H. (Go Patriots!!)

      Thanks Chris. I have not tried those other blades yet. I should give them a try. The Perma Sharp really worked good though.

    Unfortunately there was no discussion in the video. The title says "opinion" but I thought the opinion would be something more than just a "yeah, they're good"

    • @kensurfs
      @kensurfs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I get through a shave without cutting myself I consider the blades to be good. I’ve butchered myself with certain blades. Good point though, I’ll try to improve

      I've been surfing through a lot for these blades lately. One other channel, nick shaves, did a video on this. Compared with another similarly sharp blade series, it really gained an edge since it didn't nick him at all. The other one was pretty awful, you could watch the blood coming to the skin surface through all the lather. It really was a shame.

    Great review. I love Perma sharp blades. This might be a stupid question but if you have a good slick shave soap why do you need a pre-shave.
    Thanks

    • @kensurfs
      @kensurfs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BennyCFD I use them to make the Shave last a little longer and if my skin is extra dry. Plus I don't always shave after a shower so my face is really not that wet👍👍💈

    I really like your reviews. I'm new to wet shaving, and have the merkur 38c razor. It works well for me. If I decide to buy a second razor, should I choose one similar, or different? What is the advantage in having a second razor? What do you think of adjustable razors?

    • @1964CJW
      @1964CJW 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      34c, not 38

    • @kensurfs
      @kensurfs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Clifton West The 34C is one of my favorites. The Merkur Futur adjustable does not work well for me. You could buy a Gillette slim adjustable in the $15-$30 range on eBay from 1960-1973 and get a great razor. That way you can try multiple blades and adjust to your face👍👍💈💈

    • @kensurfs

      It's got a really nice bay rum scent. It's really a nice strong scent. Once you lather it up the smell gets really distinct. 👍
