  • My first day out with my U2 160 glider. Freezing and windy January day with a few pilots on the hill. Two hours of flying with climbs up to 700' above take off. Went to the Truleigh Hill. After a longer floght i did a short one just to familiarise myself with my new glider.
Soundtrack made by myself in Ableton Live.

Why do you get out of the harness so early on? Nice top landings.

Thanks Bari. I get my legs off the harness early mainly to avoid unpleasant surprise just at the touch down and to focus on the glider control when most needed.

@@maciejwolaniecki I understand the legs but totally forgot to include why on uprights so soon :) I reckon it's the same explanation? I stay on my base bar all the way into ground effect and then go to the uprights.

@@BariFPV perhaps I have to delay turning upright. Prone position gives you better control and upright position better flare authority. On few occasions I landed in a strong wind gradient with virtually no wind close to the ground. The best option then is to flare immediately. If you can.

@@maciejwolaniecki absolutely. I like fairly fast landings so I can fly through gradients. Being on the uprights takes away that vital airspeed in my opinion.

So which wing do you usually fly?

I used to fly Wills Wing Sport 2.155. I fly U2 160 since January
