thank you for taking the time to educate me. i don't know anything about my hyundai car , and my engine light came on today ,so I apprecticate your know how approach ,you are a born teacher .
Dropping the spark plugs into the tube may damage the gap on the spark plug. Best to use a neadle nose plier and lightly place them in the threaded hole directly
Hello ! I use the Würth company spray, which is designed to prevent moisture in electrical connections. It works quite well. I sprayed the ends of the ignition wires both inside and outside, shake off the excess liquid and connect to the car. I also sprayed the ignition coil from the outside with the same spray. In 1997, I made my Opel Ascona 1.6 carburetor such a test, I sprayed all the ignition wires and the distributor cover inside and out with the same spray. Then I washed the car engine with pressure from the water hose. After washing the engine, I took off the distributor cover, shook it clean with a lot of water, put it in its place and started the engine, the engine started well as before washing the engine .Würth makes a good moisture control spray!
Hello Gerard my 2006 Hyundai Sonata 2.4 L have a misfire on cylinder 3 I swap the spark plug with ignition coil did the test drive and the check engine light came back with same cylinder 3 misfire do you think I have a Faulty fuel injection ? Or the cylinder low on compression ?
Cheers Johnny, Ya I miss doing bodywork at times as well, there is a lot of job satisfaction in it after completion. Maybe when I buy my own house over here I will invest in some painting equipment for projects, that would be fun. Saying that, there is many many things I don't miss as well 😂😂😂 Like painting 3 stage paint - Soul Red - given the incorrect colour match, ended up finishing work at 2am before going home, then coming in at 7am the following morning and essentially starting the job all over again 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Oh ya and I had to drive a 2.5 hr round trip to get the correct match because the Standox system that was used could not get it close enough FFS
My cylinder 2&4 are misfiring. My car isn’t starting up and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s locked. Would me changing them start it back up or am I done for
YOu swapped both the coil and the plug. When teh code came back on cylinder 3, how did you know it was the coil and not the spark plug? Skipped steps in the video?
My car is Sonata 2009, American import, engine 24. It has a malfunction. When the rpm reaches 1500 revolutions, the engine shakes, whether it is moving or standing, and results in a weak engine torque.. I went to the technician more than once and he connected it to a fault detector, but to no avail without any result. .. so what is the solution?
I think my sonata is having a misfire bc my engine light is on and then took it to 2 shops already 1st one couldnt find anything and the 2nd one told me that there is a problem but its not telling them what it is he thinks its a misfire but didnt do anything bc he didnt wanna mess something up
Hi nice vid i drive a 2017 Hyundai ionic hybrid as an Uber driver and i put in about 190K mileage after 3 yrs of driving rideshare and noticed same code on my scanner P300 301 302 & 303…is it fair and reasonable to replace them at my mileage and is it normal? Cuz I don’t see it part of manual maintenance on the handbook at all about coil maintenance…I’m experiencing the common symptoms now of choking misfire etc…I intend to DIY or myself…great vid and helpful
Were you able to fix this issue? I had to replace first ignition coil at 60k miles, but I usually get one code. I am just about 190k miles now and now I have codes p300, 302,303,304
@@roman75236 yes …what I should have done when I replaced my spark plugs is also changed my ignition coils at the same time…it’s more efficient this way and saves time and effort…keep in mind these two worns out after 100K miles
Hey Gerard, another good video! To hark back to the ABS sensor, when I purchased one, I was asked was it grey or black. I wasn't sure, so went with black replacement. it was actually grey after (the one in the car), and when i plugged in the sensor, the dash lit up again immediately after resetting the fault codes. Any idea why this would happen? The black sensor was actually a 'compatible' part, but didn't work. Any idea why? Thanks!
This is where correct part and correct pin data give you the information you need. Knowing the type of sensor it is and exactly how it functions is fundamental in diagnosis. Unfortunately I do not offer an online diagnostic service as I simply don't have enough time in my day as it is. I work full time and with family, working on TH-cam and continuing up skilling with training modules I am maxed out. There are some good ones out there if you are stuck. Consider reaching out to a trusted technician in your area for a diagnostic. Having wiring diagrams and a information is as important at times as the knowledge to repair. All the best with it and all your future fixes 👍👌👌👌 thanks for watching. I appreciate it 🙏
Gerard Burke thanks Gerard! I totally get it! The problem is resolved now, after I got a grey replacement, but it was a strange one! I have a young family as well and only get a minute after 9pm when they’re in bed! I think you’ve done more than enough to help tons of people already! Cheers!
My car has started misfiring (vibrating) after I put it into neutral or parking mode. It started after I serviced it from an authorised service centre from the car vendor itself. What is the possibility that whatever the car mechanic did has caused this? Thanks
I have a 2019 hyundai kona with the 1.6 turbo the check engine light came on at 5,000 miles my scanner showed multiple cylinder missfire toik it to the dealer and they replaced the coil. about 30 min later engine light came on again its been in the shop 4 times it shakes when first started then settles down they never can figure it out🤣
lol this was the best hyundai ignition coil/p0300 random misfire diagnostic video so far. kudos mate.
Cheers Chris, thanks for the nice words

Absolute nonsense
I am having a similar problem with my accent, and this was an easy step by step DIY vid. I am confident of working on it myself, thanks.
Thanks 🙏🙏
Good luck on the repairs 🤞💪
Fabtastic job, I really enjoyed this one and the tips were great. Thank you

Find out something new ? ( luck ) !
17 Elantra misfired in 1; swapped the coil to 4 and it went to 4. These newer Hyundai coils suck
Did you get the misfired fix ?
@@scottvan1898 yeah. Replacing all spark plugs and cylinders 1 and 2 coils did the trick
Yes
Thank you.

Good job
Thanks Ian
So long video to just show a basic blown coil test and replacement lol it wasn’t rocket science mate
