How do you like it after a year? And which one did you get? Im looking for something my 4yr old daughter can play, but ive got enough guitars already. I want to get her a uke so i can learn to play as well :D $35 seems like a good price for something that suits both of us
When I bought my Uke I had no idea what I was doing I just knew I wanted one lol although I’d say I got pretty lucky on picking one I bought a 50 dollar Concert Mitchelle. (Gotta say I’m impressed with the quality, it stays in tune & has a crisp sound) & I love it. Although I’m still a novice I have been very interested in getting a tenor uke.
I would recommend the Mitchel Tenor MUT70 or something or other. Granted, it goes for 170 bucks new, you get a full-sounding tenor ukulele with a solid spruce top. Solid wood ages and the instrument develops a voice all its own. Otherwise, the Luna Tattoo tenor ukulele is also a good option. Note that tenor ukes will tend to be pricier because are comprised of more wood. Good luck.
I appreciate that you played the same thing on each uke. So many times in reviews people will play something different on each one. The way you did it is much more helpful. Thank you!
Idk if I should get the concert or the soprano!!! edit 2 years later lol: i ended up getting the soprano! i am looking into getting a concert soon tho :)
Great explanation! This is clearly the best ukulele video guide i could find right now! So professional and entertaining. Everything wrapped up so well. I love how you keep up that beautiful smile the whole video. It doesnt even feel boring with you being so energetic and fun! Build up good vibes in me while watching this. Anyway, i never owned an ukulele before and considering to get one but still confused between the concert or the tenor one. i have long and slightly small fingers. i like the portability of the concert and how most of the beginners choose this but i kinda like the sound of tenor better. Heck, the more i think about it, the more confused i become. i feel like i should just buy all of them! Any replies from you would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your support! If you're able to buy multiple, it's definitely nice to have options. If you want to start out with only one, I'd suggest going for a concert ukulele. It's not the smallest and it's not the largest, so it's a great way to get a feel for the ukulele if you're a beginner. If you find that you absolutely love playing the ukulele and want to invest further, go with the tenor next since that's the one you loved the sound of most. As far as which concert to get, I always recommend the one I own simply because it's my favorite (linked in the description box.) However, if you want something under the $50 price point, check out the ukulele I just made a review about (posted today April 3rd, "giveaway" video.) It's an ADM concert ukulele and I'm really happy with it, especially considering the lower price point. Hope this helps!
I’m sure by now you have already decided, but if not, I would totally go for it. you do have to relearn the chords, but it is so worth it for the amazing sound. It also comes in handy if you want to play the guitar in the future.
I am anxiously awaiting my very first ukelele to arrive, and in the mean time I am watching every video I can find on the subject. This has been the most concise, and informative video, by far! Well done, and thank you!
I love all 4 of them 😭😩😂. I want to learn play a ukulele and then transition into a guitar, whilst still playing a ukulele. I’m planning on getting a Tenor, but I do hope to get all 4 eventually.
Ik this comment is a bit old but I thought it might not hurt to still add this in. If you are planning on going into guitar from Uke you definently want to get either a Tenor or Baritone but preferably Bari. A Baritone actually uses standard guitar tunning and would be perfect if your using Ukelele to transition into Guitar (but really practicing with any uke will probably help) not only will it help because you wont have to relearn the string setup on the guitar (which I struggled with going from guitar to Uke) but it will also get you used to moving along larger frets and a much longer fret board.
This has been so helpful! I now feel ready to buy my very first ukulele. You literally answered all the questions I had re: what ukulele would be best for me. Thank you Dylan Laine! 💜
3rd tine i watched a ukulele buying guide so far all of you are very educational and you have more effort explaining the characteristic of each ukulele
this helped me and my grand daughter ! were planning on buying one for her because she really wants to learn how to play them because she thinks it looks fun. we were thinking of buying a soprano but after seeing this video and the comments, i think a Concert would be better. Thank you ! this helped us alot !
Thanks so much! I am just starting to want to play ukulele, but I am doing research and waiting to make sure it isn't just a whim. This was a great introduction, thanks for sharing with a peppy personality!
I'm awaiting my first uke I git a concert by flight and I chose to get one with a pick up so I can plug in to my Roland street cube too but I thinking I'd enjoy a tenor too some day too
AMAZING VIDEO!!! Thank you times a MILLION!!! This was so helpful and informative, it has really helped me in picking out a ukulele. I haven't picked one yet, but this has assisted the process so much!!!
Awesome info! Thank you! Im so sorry abt you had trouble w saying “generally speaking” but your outtakes are hilarious! Thanks for the smile. I KNOW Id get tongue twisted all the time.
I ordered my first Uke today, a Ranch soprano ukulele. I am kind of nervous I didn’t get a concert since it seems much more common but I love the sound and size of the soprano more. Might get a concert one later ?? Who knows c:
This was Super helpful! I'm buying my first ukulele, and I really think I'm going to buy the soprano ukulele she talked about. It looks and sounds beautiful, and I have small hands. I have only ever had a toy ukulele and I really struggled with everything and thought it was my fault, but she was right about it always going out of tune. I still managed to play songs, but it didn't sound like I had wanted it to. So now when I can finally buy a real one, I am confident I have made the right choice, all thanks to this video!
I'm probably really late, but thanks for the guide, Dylan! I'm getting a Rollins Electric-Acoustic Ukulele. It sounds very nice and is very good quality for the money. I got it for around $85 if anyone wanted to know. I'll be posting an unboxing and review soon!
Thank You for this video!! This is so clear😍 I'm your fan! The truth is, I started my own channel❤ and I also want to inspire others to play ukulele❤ muahh God Bless You more💛💛
I was wondering if my ukulele was a baritone or a tenor. I compared my ukulele's sound to both the baritone and the tenor. I realized that it was a tenor! Mine is pretty big, but it sounds like a tenor.
Great video, she’s even showing us which one was the biggest and the smallest, lol. Honestly I much appreciate your time showing me all this. I been looking to get one for ages and I don’t know nothing about. Lovely video
I left this message soon after I saw you first 2 minutes and I knew you was great video, but I was wrong you are super one of the best video on TH-cam ever. And you are so clever 🥰
As a novice lutherer ( a fancy way to say I build cigar box guitars) this helped me a ton I picked up a kohala Soprano for $3.00 while thrift storing with my daughter and granddaughter I think it would be a budget uke but it seems to stay in tune I tightened the machine heads so that might do it I am going to put in a piezo pickup so I can hook it up to my amp It might get sold in the late summer at my booth at a bluegrass festival Now if I can learn to play I might sell more
Thanks for the buying guide! I have been waiting for it since last month 😊 So you are using a concert ukulele for your tutorial aren't you? If I buy soprano, could I use your tutorial too? you are giving a concert ukulele tutorial, so I worry when I buy a soprano ukulele, I can't use your tutorial because it's different. please advise me! thankss
Hi Michelle! You're welcome! Yes, in all of my worship ukulele tutorials I am using a concert ukulele. In this video, I explain how a concert ukulele is tuned the exact same way as a soprano ukulele, as well as a tenor ukulele. This means that the way you play chords will be exactly the same on the soprano, concert, and tenor ukulele. That being said, yes, you can use all of my ukulele tutorials with either a soprano, concert, or tenor ukulele :-)
Thank you for your thorough review. I got curious with ukuelele purchased an inexpensive nice concert in 2018. I am so happy I can play again just for my own fun and for the kids in school. I'm actually looking at that same Oscar Schmidt or Enya by comparison, for an upgrade. Glad you like it too.
Thank you Dylan for this video. It looks like we will be going tomorrow or the next day to pick out a ukulele for me. Your words of wisdom were very helpful for me. I really appreciate the time you took to teach us about the different ukuleles and all the prices and such. Great job!
Thank you so much! This was so helpful! I’m getting one for myself today and this legit saved me!💚 Edit : I bought myself a Concert ukulele and I’m in love with it!
I really love the sound and look of a tenor uke, but I heard it's best to start off at a soprano or concert. Should I buy I tenor or should I just wait after I learn how to play a bit?
If you're experienced with the guitar you might be very comfortable with the baritone or tenor. Sopranos and concerts though are definitely great when you're starting out.
I’m really thinking about getting the Oscar Schmidt concert Ukulele that you showed in this video! I already heard about this Ukulele and everyone reviewing it is extremely satisfied with it and a lot of people say it’s their favorite. It would be my second Ukulele. My current one is a concert one (because I like the sound best) and costs 55€ wich is around 60$ I think. It’s okay quality but I noticed that I’m after months of playing still very very passionate about it and I want to invest in a better quality one. Anyways, this video helped A LOT! Thank you so much for explaining everything in such a nice way!
Im a beginner and I've been practicing on my little brothers soprano ukulele.I've learned a lot in these last couple of days. I want to get my own, a concert one, but i don't know if thats too much for a beginner. Should I get a suprano or a concert. Btw I'm 13 and 4'9. I don't know if that changes anything tho...
I'm also 13 and I'm gonna be getting one just don't get one from Aldi because I got one from there for 19.99 euro and it broke straight away and I was very good with it so it wasn't me
(I’m gonna leave my experience here for anyone reading this, since this comment was written half a year ago) I’m 14 and about 5’0 and I started with a concert one. I also have tiny baby hands and the size works perfect for me! I’m planning on getting a new Ukulele and I’m definitely going to buy another concert one. I like the sound best and the size is great for my fingers to switch chords!
Excellent tips, thank you so much. I wonder if you could make comment on the: Ukulele Concert Size Bundle From Lohanu that has sold 1,242 ukes. 91% gave it 5 stars.
This is the fourth video I have watched about buying an ukulele and it's the best one I've seen. I loved it when you started playing finger-picking style which happens to be my favorite style of playing guitar. I am going for the tenor. Thanks for the tips! By the way, and forgive me for correcting you: Córdoba is pronounced: Cord-dovah...
Hello, Dylan. Nice video, especially the outtakes. :) Might be your good influence, because I bought the same OU5 uke that you play, and it's arriving in a week.
Wow i just see one of your video and now became a fan! I want to start to play uke, i like the tenor one. Hey Deylan, i love sing too and in tenor range. Is that means that i have should buy the tenor uke too? Thank you so much in advance
My daughter is almost 12. She has been playing the piano for about 5 years. She wants to start a second instrument. Which ukulele would you suggest? She’s going to try to do it on her own with help from DVDs and TH-cam.
I'm planning to buy a Ukulele but I can't choose between a Tenor and a Concert. I can play the guitar so I think I'll go with the concert so it'll be easier for me to memorize the chords. Any suggestions guys? 🙋♀️🤓

Dylan Laine i just 10 minutes ago bought my first uke i cant wait for it to come yayyyyy
You really helped me because know i know what to buy and I know all the sizes :)
thanks for the video ! may I know what is the brand of baritone uku?
Dylan Laine hi I was wondering Are there any other differences between the concert and soprano ukuleles which is not size ?
Does the 12 and under beginner use go out of tune or are you talking about something else?
The way you compared the size of each uke with the rest of the family satisfied my OCD. My mental health thanks you 🙏🏾
oaathhhh
I was going to like your comment but then it would’ve had 31 likes and not 30 even...

I don’t know why but the description box made me happy beacuse everything is in there

I'm glad you posted this video I just ordered a concert ukelele for $35 and it looks like I made the right decision for a beginner.
That's awesome! Let us know how you end up liking it! :)

I find that the baritone uke sounds too much like a guitar. I prefer a concert size.
That's because it IS a guitar. The baritone is tuned like a guitar.
I haven’t had a concert but I like the soprano. To me it sounds like traditional uke sound
That’s what I was so nervous thinking about that I got the concert what did you end up with?
same omgg
yaa Idk wich one to get
sameeee.. but, my mind's telling me to get the soprano one tho ://
UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Me toooo! I can’t decide which one. I might just get concert.
Thank you so much, as a complete beginner i feel a lot better going in to buy one
I'm so happy to hear that! 😊
purplepiglover
You
I thought mine was a concert size ukelele till today .
But it's a tenor ukelele 😅
Thanks Dylan 😄😄
Hi Laura! Well, that's fun to be able to know for sure which type of ukulele you have! Tenor ukuleles have such a nice full sound :-)
Great explanation! This is clearly the best ukulele video guide i could find right now! So professional and entertaining. Everything wrapped up so well. Oh that Tenor finger-playing section got me right in the heart. It was so beautiful, I cried.
this video was so professional and accurate !
Oh good! I'm so happy to hear that, thank you! 😊
I decided on going with a Tenor electric ukulele from Godin as I one day want to use it on the Worship team and will need it to be amplified.
Great! Good luck!
I love all 4 of them 😭😩😂. I want to learn play a ukulele and then transition into a guitar, whilst still playing a ukulele. I’m planning on getting a Tenor, but I do hope to get all 4 eventually.

When she started plucking the ukuleles I was like OMG THATS SO GOOOOOOD
3rd tine i watched a ukulele buying guide so far all of you are very educational and you have more effort explaining the characteristic of each ukulele
You do a very good job describing different sizes and prices, thanks! And I love the bloopers you showed, very cute!
Thank you!!!! I'm contemplating on buying a solid mango wood tenor but i have baby hands. I saw you play fingerstyle in tenor and it gave me hope :)
this helped me and my grand daughter ! were planning on buying one for her because she really wants to learn how to play them because she thinks it looks fun. we were thinking of buying a soprano but after seeing this video and the comments, i think a Concert would be better. Thank you ! this helped us alot !
This was incredibly informative, you basically answered all my questions in one single video!
Thanks so much! I am just starting to want to play ukulele, but I am doing research and waiting to make sure it isn't just a whim. This was a great introduction, thanks for sharing with a peppy personality!
I'm awaiting my first uke I git a concert by flight and I chose to get one with a pick up so I can plug in to my Roland street cube too but I thinking I'd enjoy a tenor too some day too
Thank You! It's funny because I've been thinking of buying one and not sure which one who buy! So thanks 😁
AMAZING VIDEO!!! Thank you times a MILLION!!! This was so helpful and informative, it has really helped me in picking out a ukulele. I haven't picked one yet, but this has assisted the process so much!!!
Wow your video was so informational and so useful! Thanks, ive been thinking a lot about getting my own ukulele

Banana Man get whatever you want lol just like she said time and practice you can play anything!
I'm a beginner and I just bought a tenor ukulele! Thanks for this guide!
Awesome info! Thank you! Im so sorry abt you had trouble w saying “generally speaking” but your outtakes are hilarious! Thanks for the smile. I KNOW Id get tongue twisted all the time.
I wanna learn how to finger pick like you do!! 😍
Very informative ukelele video. We settled on the concert Luna for our daughter.
I ordered my first Uke today, a Ranch soprano ukulele. I am kind of nervous I didn’t get a concert since it seems much more common but I love the sound and size of the soprano more. Might get a concert one later ?? Who knows c:
gazelle k same i ordered one too is it good?
I’m still Ded, I got it November 1st and I love it. After ab 3 weeks of tuning, it stays tuned. I couldn’t be happier with it :)

I’m thinking of playing ukulele, I play the clarinet in my schools band already, hmm lol.
I really want to start the ukulele and u helped so u earned a sub
I was wondering if my ukulele was a baritone or a tenor. I compared my ukulele's sound to both the baritone and the tenor. I realized that it was a tenor! Mine is pretty big, but it sounds like a tenor.
Awesome!
thru you we knows now that different sizes of ukulele. Thanks for thar info
I definitely want a tenor, 5:24 sounds gorgeous
Great video, she’s even showing us which one was the biggest and the smallest, lol. Honestly I much appreciate your time showing me all this. I been looking to get one for ages and I don’t know nothing about. Lovely video
I left this message soon after I saw you first 2 minutes and I knew you was great video, but I was wrong you are super one of the best video on TH-cam ever. And you are so clever 🥰
I love how thorough this video is. I appreciate you
Aw thank you so much, Brianna! That means a lot! :)
Dylan Laine you’re so welcome ❤️ and thank YOU!!! You helped me make my decision on what ukulele to buy
As a novice lutherer ( a fancy way to say I build cigar box guitars) this helped me a ton
I picked up a kohala Soprano for $3.00 while thrift storing with my daughter and granddaughter
I think it would be a budget uke but it seems to stay in tune
I tightened the machine heads so that might do it
I am going to put in a piezo pickup so I can hook it up to my amp
It might get sold in the late summer at my booth at a bluegrass festival
Now if I can learn to play I might sell more
This was incredibly helpful! Thank you so much!
THANK YOU! You helpe me out so much, and I have been saving up, and I will be buying a ukulele! Thanks. :)
Started my journey today. And by far the best informative video I came across. Thanks a lot!
So glad it helped!
the best of all videos I've seen. 1 video have it all and in detail... thanks 😍😍😍🤟🤟🤟
Really helpful video I'm thinking of going with Kala soprano ukulele you earned yourself a new sub
Hi Pam! You're welcome! Good luck picking out the perfect ukulele, I'm glad this video helped in making a decision 😊
Thank you so much! This was so helpful! I’m getting one for myself today and this legit saved me!💚
Edit : I bought myself a Concert ukulele and I’m in love with it!
I really love the sound and look of a tenor uke, but I heard it's best to start off at a soprano or concert. Should I buy I tenor or should I just wait after I learn how to play a bit?
If you love the sound and look of a tenor uke, then I'd say go for it!!
If you're experienced with the guitar you might be very comfortable with the baritone or tenor. Sopranos and concerts though are definitely great when you're starting out.
I like the baritone that ones mtly favorite because it's good perfect size and I love the sound
The Sister Corner same!
I think I want to learn how to play a ukulele now, thanks!
This is such a big help for choosing the best string instrument. Thank you so much 💙
I’m really thinking about getting the Oscar Schmidt concert Ukulele that you showed in this video!
You're so welcome!! Best of luck with your decision!! :)
What type of suprano is the best quality to buy ?
Instant Subscribe!!! Exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you so much!
You're so welcome!! :)
I was SHOOK when she said rosewood. -A
she really explained every little thing. thank you
thank you for all the great info !
Nice review! Which one would you buy near 100 euros? Lag tiki uku, Cordoba 15cm, Ortega Rfu 11s. The last two are mahogany
I hope it's not to late but my first ukulele was a Luna concert uke and it was amazing (I'm 13 too)
HeyitsMaia I think you should get a concert
I'm also 13 and I'm gonna be getting one just don't get one from Aldi because I got one from there for 19.99 euro and it broke straight away and I was very good with it so it wasn't me

my first uke was a baritone, so I’d go for the concert!
Hi this was really helpful for me and my friends
I think i'm using the suprano or the concert one! I don't really know! 😂😅
They both sound awesome so youre good!
Haha, that's okay! Maybe you could look up the model name and number to help figure out whether it's a concert or soprano, if you'd like! :-)
Check the number of frets. Concert ukuleles have from 15-20 frets. Sopranos have less frets.
I like the soprano because of the brighter sound
Excellent tips, thank you so much. I wonder if you could make comment on the: Ukulele Concert Size Bundle From Lohanu that has sold 1,242 ukes. 91% gave it 5 stars.
I loved this vid so much I subscribed! 😂💞 Good job, and God bless!
I love your voice and attitude you make me feel at home
Thank you!
you are the informational video i was looking for 😭
Hello, Dylan. Nice video, especially the outtakes. :) Might be your good influence, because I bought the same OU5 uke that you play, and it's arriving in a week.
Hahah I'm glad you liked the outtakes! I hope you enjoy the ukulele! :)
This was a huge help. Thank you!
I'm so glad! You're welcome!
Thanks for spreading the light. 💕
Thanks so much, I think the concert is right for me!
I don't often love the sound of a soprano, but the one shown here sounds very nice...at least in this video.
Idk why but I really like your voice

Could you teach how to do the picking your doing in this video?
My daughter is almost 12. She has been playing the piano for about 5 years. She wants to start a second instrument. Which ukulele would you suggest? She’s going to try to do it on her own with help from DVDs and TH-cam.
Great job!
this was REALLYYYYYYYY helpful, thank you :)

Thanx so much fer sharing kiddo.. Loving my OU5 as well...... but thinking about buying soprano (Luna ) just for fun...
I bought an Ortega earth series ukulele. What do you guys think about it?
I'm planning to buy a Ukulele but I can't choose between a Tenor and a Concert. I can play the guitar so I think I'll go with the concert so it'll be easier for me to memorize the chords. Any suggestions guys? 🙋♀️🤓
This video is excellent quality. God bless you so much!
I have quite big hands, can i play the concert ukulele??
