Good points and advice. Best thing about ukulele vs other instruments is that a quality instrument doesn’t have to set you back a ton of money. And once you’ve been playing a bit, you kinda get a better idea of what you want out of your instrument...(I like sopranos and tenors for different reasons and they are different enough tonally to justify both). And as y’all mentioned, best advice that can be given to any new player is to buy from a reputable dealer who will ensure the instrument is set up....especially for new player.
my sister got a guitar, and i play the viola. i checked out the guitar, and played it longer than my sister practiced. but i obviously don't want to copy or do the same things as my sister, since i did it already too many times (since she's my rolemodel) so i wanted a ukulele! considering my small size, i think i'll like it. thanks ^^
Wow! How helpful. I’m in the market to upgrade and I want to make sure I get the right uke for me. This is the kind of expertise I need to help me do that. Thanks so much!
Superb! I'm considering a third ukulele on my squad and you have really cleared up a lot of the question marks. Thanks so much for such a great video! You have definitely added to my uke knowledge.
Thank you Mike and the owner of the channel for giving these valuable advice and tips before buying a ukulele.. I am about to buy one. Actually my elder brother has a guitar. Whenever I try to play some music my finger couldn't reach to appropriate cords that's why I was wondering if there is any instrument which is handy for me and walla! I found out about ukulele. So I don't want to waste my money to buy a fake ukulele that's why I was searching for some tips online and this video help me what I wanted to know. I wrote alot of thing. I hope it didn't bother anyone. Wish you all the best and I hope in a month or twice I'll be able to play amazingly beautiful tune like Mike did. I am Zarif from Bangladesh 🇧🇩. Peace out ✌️

Hi! I'm in the present December 2020. I know it's super late but thank you for the idea. I know the details how to choose a ukelele that suits my personality.😊 Merry Christmas everyone ❣️
This is my first time getting a ukelele and im getting it from amazon would you recommended a good ukelele to get from amazon? Also this video was helpful!
This is a great starter uke that I owned and played for a few years: amzn.to/2gBepiS. And here is our review on it: rockclass101.com/makala-mk-s-ukulele-review-demo/
Laminate is a Makala MK-S Soprano and the Kanile'a K-1 (Solid) is a concert. Those are 2 ukes I have personally owned. Unfortunately, I never owned a laminate concert, which I agree, would have been a more direct comparison.
Hello sir I hope you can answer my question. I have a soprano ukulele and im having difficulty singing with it. Does the size of ukelele depends on your voice tone? Like i have a low voice should i get the bigger size? Thanks and Godbless
Changing the key of the song would make the biggest difference towards fitting your vocal range, although you may prefer the tone of a larger uke, like a baritone, as it's much deeper than the soprano.
I would like to start out on the ukulele so which type of ukulele is best for beginners? Can I progress and explore different levels like reach intermediate on any ukulele?
I really like this one and it's only $60: amzn.to/2gBepiS Here's our review on it: rockclass101.com/makala-mk-s-ukulele-review-demo/ And you can def play advanced songs on it! Here's a clip of me playing Johnny B. Goode on it: th-cam.com/video/OtotWnWUiAA/w-d-xo.html
What do you think of a Luna guitars uke bamboo soprano?? Like is the sound good the neck is mahagony and is the neck width good like for the small hands, I am a bit scared to go to the store so I thought of ordering and doing a pick up
Here's what I'd recommend: amzn.to/31Vd1kx - It's the Baby Taylor. It's 3/4 size of a regular acoustic. A lot of my students had them. They sound and play great!
@@nmtoolsandgadgets4963 Yes, the neck is larger which means the fret spacings are larger. So stretch chords or licks will be harder to do - unless you have huge hands.
1:23 Yeah, but from the other side of things - wouldn't there be a point where if a ukulele is too small, it just wouldn't be worth-while for a manufacturer to build it to begin with? I am just playing devil's advocate here...

I am currently renovating a baritone Giannini from the 1970s. Liking it a lot so far.

I think that was the most informative video I've found so far!
I totally ignored the part about laminated, solid top, all solid.
Good job!

@@RockClass101OH, wow...
I thought you were going to say that you would now recommend ordering a ukulele from Amazon!
the two ukes you compared (laminate and all solid), were they different sizes? not a very fair comparison!!!
Looked like a soprano vs a tenor or concert
Laminate is a Makala MK-S Soprano and the Kanile'a K-1 (Solid) is a concert. Those are 2 ukes I have personally owned. Unfortunately, I never owned a laminate concert, which I agree, would have been a more direct comparison.
not only different sizes but sounded like some effects were added ie. reverb for the $1000 one.

I'm not a fan of Luna. From my experience, they have a lot of quality control issues. For guitars, I'd recommend Martin or Taylor.
Here's what I'd recommend: amzn.to/31Vd1kx - It's the Baby Taylor. It's 3/4 size of a regular acoustic. A lot of my students had them. They sound and play great!
Any soprano ukelele recommendation?
Yes! This one: rockclass101.com/makala-mk-s-ukulele-review-demo/
do you think it’s not advisable to buy online?🥺
Buy from a mom and pop, like Uke Republic: www.ukerepublic.com/
i wanna learn how to play a ukelele or gituar but i dont wanna spend to mutch. cuz im kinda young yk.
Here's an affordable ($50) soprano that I recommend: rockclass101.com/makala-mk-s-ukulele-review-demo/

Hi can you please help me choose between concert with soild top and bone or tenor but laminate wood? I prefer fingerstyle playing
I'd go solid top, it's worth the extra $ b/c of the tone improvement :)
@@RockClass101 is the much of a difference between tenor and concert? Besides it being loud

why is there no strap buttons on most ukuleles ?
Not everyone uses a strap, so the manufacturer gives you the option to or not too.
