    There are several variations of Cha Kroeung and they are all delicious. Some people use beef instead of chicken, others use innards. A traditional way is using prahok (Cambodian fermented mudfish) and holy basil, which is also delicious. However, I understand that not everyone has access to these ingredients. In this video, I share with you another variation of this dish that I've learned from a Cambodian friend. Thank you for watching 🙏

      Don’t use soy sauce or oyster sauce tho. The flavor of the two sauces don’t match the flavors of kreung.

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BigRiceEnergy There are many variations of making Cha Kroeung. I always encourage people to adjust the flavors and make it their own. @@michelle_tsai_drums Yes It needs to be seasoned from time to time. But I haven't seasoned it recently. I'm not sure the brand name, I bought it from an Asian grocery store in MA many years ago. There's no logo imprinted on the wok either.

    Hello. I'm attempting to make above recipe and could not locate in my area 2 ingredients. Kaffiir and Galangal I could not find.
    Could you suggest a substitute for the two? Please help...

    • @ThunThunChannel
      @ThunThunChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sharon, thank you for watching! You can use Lime zest for Kaffir Lime Leaves substitute. Lime zest is more sour than the leaves so you'll only be using this substitute for the fragrance. As for galangal, you can leave it out. There are no substitutes for galangal that would work in this dish. It has an earthy, pine forest fragrance and taste. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you for watching!

      I typically use a mortar and pestle but my friend got me this immersion blender which works better than a traditional blender. It blends quite smooth and no need to add water. Look it up
