My nephew saw a mountain lion in northern MO in the 90s. Because he was 12, officials said he saw a large yellow dog. The paw prints were *feline.* No canine has retractable claws!!! Officials lie so people won't panic...or be wary. The newscaster gave good advice. Keep eye contact with a feline or canine predator, but don't glare aggressively. You want to convey that you aren't afraid and aren't starting a fight. Arms out to look big. Move slowly and never turn your back. Unless you seem like prey or danger, most will see an adult human as another predator and leave be. Keep children close because they look and act like prey. Scream and run is the worst response.
Stay away until this is dealt with. Mountain lions near people may have been dumped by an owner. Their fangs have been interfered with and their claws removed. They can't hunt their normal prey and may attack people because they are starving. There is no excuse for the authorities not checking this out.
Mo has a very large population of deer...Thus...it was only a matter of time that the mountain lion would...from time to time...matriculate from the mountain and western states...
Apparently, the 1st thing is obviously take a picture so that you can prove a mountain lion attacked you and not a bobcat.

Camera man never dies I guess he didn’t know
I had a deer killed in my office parking lot down in the west bottoms several years ago. All signs pointed to a Mountain Lion
