Faith, your opening was so inviting and challenging - in that, don't let verbage or a church denomination be a chasm that divides us. I, too, am reformed and know the 5 Solas through my walk. To make it an emphasis in my study time is a fantastic idea. Thank you! The thing about knowing you are always being reformed, or sanctified, is that learning is such an essential part of our walk. Some think we're snobs, or stuffy, or all brains and no heart - nothing could be further from the truth. The more your mind understands, the more sensitive your heart and spirit become. God bless everyone on their walk with Christ!!

This is a wonderful idea. I am on the same page as you. You can learn from all denominations that you may not completely agree with their doctrine, but you respect them in their faith. In our family , we have different faiths. I am also in what you would call a reformed denomination. We will all one day be in heaven as born again Christians through Jesus. We need to put our differences aside and coexist in the love and faith of our Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for your ideas . God bless you and your family.

I’ve just been learning so much recently. Im so hungry for preaching and God’s Word. I used to watch TH-cam DIY’s and decor stuff, even tho I’ve been a Christian for a long time and done my Bible study for a long time. Now, well more recently I’m on TH-cam watching RC Sproul, John Macauthur, Paul Washer, Mike Winger, and the list goes on. But I ran across you recently and was sharing you with a friend. When I got up this morning around 5am I sent your link to the girl that i was telling about you. I wanted to watch a few more videos before I sent it just to be sure… girl, I’m so thankful I ran across you. Thank you for your obedience!!

Hi Faith! I am new to your channel and I'm loving it. My husband is a pastor and I totally agree and loved your video on what's wrong with women's ministry or Bible study. For the past few years I have been saying something so close to your video it was refreshing to hear you share it and I've shared it with my group. Early on with our church that approach was not received but I believe the Lord has recreated this group with women hungry for Him, His word, truth etc. My husband preaches very differently then what our denomination has in the past. God has spoken thru him in mighty ways and miracles are all around us. God is moving so clearly and His call is strong. We have studied the reformers. Amazing! The church in general has moved so far from that teaching and from the Lord. So...I don't know your background but I am enjoying your teaching. And girl....I could be your Momma! Lol

I can be really helpful, when one comes to a verse in Scripture that is open to different interpretations, to try to find out what the early Church taught. How the people who were taught by the Apostles understood these passages, or even a further step down, how the people who were taught by the people who were taught by the Apostles understood theses passages. Sometimes it can be a real eyeopener.

I started highlighting God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit in yellow, either when talking about or if they are speaking and it has really opened my eyes just from doing that! I will definitely have to use this idea of the 5 solas for another bible I have! ( also got the idea from Nicki Drake, wasn’t my own 😀) as always thanks faith!! Love watching and learning from you!

Great short message on denomination. I find it beautiful when you have Christians with different believes that how God calls us to show the love of Christ to each other. Without differences, we cannot practice unity and sanctification. Easy to love someone the same as you. God uses this to sanctify us.

I'd love to see, someday, maybe a mini series on how to study/approach the old testament. I STRUGGLE soooo much with it. For me it's not really a matter of "understanding"....it's just rough to get through. I have ended so many one year "plans" because of the old testament books and I eventually just go back to my.... chose your own book version of bible study. I could spend hours in the new testament and it keeps me excited and feeling engaged. However, I'd really like to be able to appreciate and enjoy reading the bible as a whole.

You know, you do have at least one Catholic viewer and subscriber too. ;) But yeah, even though I wouldn't do this _exact_ Bible study (the Catholic orientation is more integrative, "both-and," rather than the "either-or" of "solas"), I agree that the theological interpretation of Scripture is a really important way to study it. After all, even to call it "Holy Scripture" is itself to make a theological statement -- it's to say that the Bible is not _merely_ a collection of books brought together by humans, but has a coherence whose origin and goal is God himself, centered around the incarnate Christ, with whom we're united through the Spirit. But just as the one Jesus required 4 distinct Gospel accounts to do justice to him, so this one Bible requires many different methods and perspectives to do justice to its richness, and I appreciate your videos because you have a really keen sense of that.

I love your channel. This year I am reading through the Bible and looking for all the “Do not fear”, Do not be afraid” and those such passages. I just finished Jeremiah and so far have found 73 such statements. I had heard that there are 365 of the so I am on a hunt. I so this hunt when I read the Bible at bed time. I do have a study time else-where during the day where I dig deeper.

I love that you have "project" Bibles! I have my main "study"/"journaling" Bible but also have the "Gospel Project" Bible to write my children's ministry notes (that's our kids curriculum) and another one for a transcription project since I knew I would have project specific notes. I thought "project Bibles" wasn't a thing!

Awesome idea. I am Not reformed even though my wife threatens to send me to reform school. Lol seriously though cool idea. I use a basic system black pigma for general words and my notes, green pigma for cross reference, and blue pigma for underlining the theme verse and notes on that verse. I'm a Baptist pastor and this is a fresh idea. Like I said not reformed but I read mostly Puritans "dead mentors". Great video 👍

I'm reformed Baptist, but still have some questions that it very hard to understand. Maby someday God will give me understanding. Do we have free will or Not? That's the biggest thing I just cant get around. But other then that I love the rich theology of Reformed baptists.

    • @homemakingwisdom
      @homemakingwisdom ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ok, ok I have been seeking God to understand why we can have free will and why at times we dont. Threw out the bible, we were given free will, free choice we make threw out our lives. You can see clear, everytime it, maybe not says "free will" i dose clearly shows that we have free will to choose what choice we make. The consequence of our choices we are responsible for. This explains everything. From Abraham chosen to obey. The story of Moses. Our consequences of bad choices and where it where is would led you. The kings. God said this is what would happen if you chose to have a king, and it did God threw out the OT gave his people countless opportunities to choose to repent and come back to God. At times they did, but they always turned away from God. Then Jesus came, now this is where we dont have free will. We cannot save our selves and even if we were given a choice we wouldn't choose Jesus. History proves that, time and time again. We cannot choose who is saved and who is not. God choose. This I why the why the gospel is a gift. We cannot follow the law so God give us someone Jesus who could and threw Him we are save. God gave us the power of the Holy Spirit to live every with the us with the gospel and giving us the power to live out law as best we can. We still have free will God didn't take that away. But now with the gospel we could have the power to choose good, make better choices. Before we were slave to sin, but with the power, knowing Gods love now we are slave to God, because now are hearts are changed and the Holy Spirit stamped on us in our hearts to want to obey God, to want to do good works. Yes we still have the choice to make the wrong choice the temptation of sin. But we have the power to not be overcome by sin, it's still a choice.
Not in a legalistic way but out of Love for Christ. Free will is
about the choices we make but you dont have free will when it comes to our salvation. I have been studying this for awhile and just the other day it just clicked. You know when God gave that promise to Abraham, God didn't say He was going to save everyone, but the the line of Abraham God promised He would raise up His people and a son will be born for the salvation of HIs people. Just read John 3:16 but keep reading. The elect are His people. Just like God appointed Israel to be his people but the other nations were not. If you think about it the bible is a history of our ancestors Israel. Yes it dose talk about other nations but it realy is about Gods chosen people. Jesus is born to save His people. Who did God give the law too? His chosen people. That's the same in the new testament but now God has open up salvation to everyone but it's still about Gods people. The teaching of the gospel we directed at his people, including His people that are Gentles.

@@homemakingwisdom Thank you for this wonderful comment! When it comes to free will, I always turn to a quote from R.C. Sproul.
"The Reformed faith teaches that human freedom is real but limited by God’s sovereignty. We cannot overrule the sovereign decisions of God with our freedom, because God’s freedom is greater than ours, for our freedom is not autonomous."

But Christ has covered your sin and you're welcome home!"

I'm not saying denominations don't matter, but I don't care if we're part of different denominations. As long as a person has repented and accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, we're all children of God.

Thank you for not sharing your denomination. I feel like we can learn so much more about God when we step outside of our own safe church walls. Absolutely, church is beautiful and totally something we need in our faith. But there comes so much judgement with 'this is what my church says'. I love your videos and I appreciate that I do not know what denomination you are currently in. (Although of course I listen to what you say and pick up a few things that point to a certain 'side' ;)) I do feel that you step over church walls and truly look at what the bible says and Jesus teaches, Instead of looking through church-glasses!! Thank you. Praise God !!

Is it reforming or transforming? I try to stay away from the word "reformed" because of Calvinism. No such thing as limited atonement. Jesus had to break the curse law. He died for the world; it's up to us if we want Him.
