Had my TKX in my 71 Nova for 2 years. Also bought mine from SST. Best transmission from the best company in the 🇺🇸

I enjoyed your video, I feel less foolish, just had an A833 4-speed rebuilt for my Barracuda, and wished I had not… now I want the TKX 5-speed, been looking and trying to decide where to buy it. Silver Sport is one of the places I‘m considering.

The name of my company is Garys Gearbox and I am located near Allentown Pa. I have been in business since 1983 and I can promise you my rebuilds don't look anything like your Muncie. MIne look absolutely new both inside and out. With the new sealants there is no excuse for a leaking transmission. However the leaking from the front of your transmission could be from over filling or it could be from using synthetic fluid. If you over fill it by as little as a cup of fluid it will come out the front. When the muncie was designed it was designed with out a front seal. So to keep it from leaking out the front the engineers designed a form fitting gland nut that rides up close to the inside of the front bearing retainer. So what you do is the use the thickest front gasket in the the gasket kit and it leaves a 30 thousand gap between the gland nut and the front bearing retainer. Ninety weight gear oil will not pass through this 30 thousand gap.....................however synthetic fluids will pass through this gap. So this is the main reason to stay with GM engineers recomendations about your muncie lube. Sorry about your pr0blems. My turn around time to rebuild a muncie is one week unless you have a front case problem. Then if it has to be sent out it could take several weeks

The TKX is better in every way. It's like swapping a stout 6L90 in place of a T400. Transforms the vehicle in every way. Purists might hate it, but if you *DRIVE* the vehicle, it's worth it.

Given the state of @Driven2Compete Muncie I think he made a good choice; both mechanically and economically. I've mulled over getting an OD and each time I do I always come to a different solution.
First, my Muncie is perfect. I think with this scenario a Gear Vendors OD is a viable choice, if not better. At least for performance. Maybe not economically. The TKX isn't a 5-speed IMO. It's a 4 + 1 gear box. 1: 1 is still 4th gear in the TKX. The TKX adds OD, but I don't consider this a "speed" gear. My M22W is a wide ratio transmission; 2.56 to 1:1. The TKX is even wider; 2.87 to 1:1. This is my knock against the TKX. It's a really wide gear set. Again, my Muncie is in perfect condition. The GV OD would let me keep the closer ratio gear set and improve on it. It makes the Muncie a "6-speed" or a 5+1 gear box. Adding a GV OD vs swapping to a TKX is about the same dollars. Some of the cost of the TKX could be recouped by selling the Muncie. If I ever stop bench racing and pull the trigger on an OD, I'll probably go with a Gear Vendors OD. Well, assuming my Muncie isn't anything less than perfect.
BTW, my car is a '68 Firebird. I love the big chrome bumper. I added the '69 Trans Am hood. Cool beans.

I rebuild Muncie’s and you never use RTV anywhere. Use Permatex 2 on gaskets if the surface has some pitting. Smear some on gaskets for a leak proof case. SST has the best customer service.

I also ordered a complete TKX kit for my 69 camaro RS/SS. Should receive it in a couple of days. Overdrive gear will be great on highways!

Saving up to get a one for my 70’ Challenger. With my 391, it would be nice to actually drive somewhere and save miles on my motor.
